Well guys and gals, I got the box carpeted ( not finished with looks ) and installed the amp temporary mounted to a spot in the trunk. My box worked out to be 3.6 after all bracing, double baffle, port and sub displacement, tuned at 33.9HZ. My amp is a MTX Thunder Elite 1501D , 1663 watts 1ohm at 14.4 volts. My first inital response was wow this thing sucks! Then I quickly realized that I forgot to turn the subwoofer control on the head unit up. DUH! This thing puts my two alpine type x 12's to bed. I haven't even broke her in yet and she is impressive already. Superb sounding, very clear all thru the frequency range. A little lit on the upper ranges but that c… -

Has anyone tried a xcon in a 4th order? I have 1 10 right now on a saz1500@ .5 in a 1.75^3ft tuned to 31hz with 31" port area. It's in a 18 wheeler and am having trouble getting it as loud as I'm sure it's capable of. I previously tried a 1.25 sealed and enclosures didn't make much of a difference. This vehicle previously had a difficult time due to cancellation. The space I have to work with is 13.5h, 37w, 23d. I was gonna try using a smaller enclosure and less port, maybe down to 13" per cube. I'm about to order a second 10 and another 1500 to get the cone area and power up. But I wanted to eliminate the canceling of the cone/port and try a 4th order with the port firin… -

Mark, This is in reference to THIS TOPIC.... I looked in the store but I cannot "order" or "add to cart" the 15 inch Xcon. Just curious about the shipping method since I need to ship to a P.O. box. Please let me know what we can do. Message me or respond here if possible. Thanks, Danny Also this: Just to make sure, enclosure recommendations is 4 cubes ported.... Inner dimensions I came up with are as follows: H: 16in W: 25in D: 18.5in is that right??? -

Hello, I want to tell you my feeling after changing my sub enclosure. Some people are afraid of going sealed with the Xcons, and want advices. I had a 3.5 ft3 sub box, tuned to 32 Hz. Design was made by Fisher Customs (need the new ones JBL Camry, please). My car is a hatchback car, and I had the sub and port facing up. I loved it, but I could not put a bottle of water (or whatever) in the trunk, and the amps were not breathing right : no room at all. I made a friend (he has an Xcon 15" too) build a sealed box for me : dim are (70 x 40 x 40 cm), so 27.6" x 15.7" x 15.7 ". I think they fit in the ones provided by ssa. I have a lot more room in the trunk and I like that !… -

orion says sealed enclosures are louder to ear than ported ones. my goals are good sq but with the ability to get loud too. so it thats true that sealed is perceived louder than ported i might go with it. whats your experience there? -

I was asking a question on "that other forum" about some different setups and this was one of the replies that I got: So the 10" Dcon isn't a good sub, and the enclosure built to optimal specs isn't efficient? -

After a few years of collaborative effort, passive crossovers are here for the Evil component system. Thank you Aaron, Julian, Vladd, Parker and Sean. This was definitely a team effort. When Aaron approached me with this idea a few years ago I was excited to design a set of passive crossovers that were based on performance first and not price or size. These really do sound great, I am proud of the design and the rest of the team knocked out a great PC board and enclosure. I don't think you can find anything better at this price point. Also, as SSA is a staunch supporter of DIY, standby for more resources to build these yourselves... SSA Evil Passive Cr… -

Decided to go above recommended and build with a touch more air space. Here's the specs... Intenal Volume: 3.16ft^3 Tuning Freq: 31hz Port Area: 60.75in^2 So far I think this is by far the best sounding set up that has been in the Hyundai. Very nice and flat response at this tuning. I really want more power on it soon though. I'm running a SAZ-1500D @ 2 ohms Probably Gonna get a SAZ-3000d in there when they come in stock. Anyways...on to the pics. -

So to get things going I used to run 2 sa12 on a bc2000 in my 04 cavalier.. Sold car with subs went about 5 years without any subwoofer. Got into bikes mostly other week was browsing craigslist for some cheap setup to throw in the focus well ended up coming across the post about ssa opening up in norwood he'll that's 5 min from me so I headed on down. That's where I met the man Mark Lafountain and shit just fell into place I foolishly bought a dcon and sealed kaotic 10 box from him only to want more a couple days later. At this point I was using loc tapped into the front speakers ., WASTE OF TIME stock unit eq out the bass.. Mark said when he heard it something does… -

Hows it going fellas. Let me preface; I've been running my 2) 12" GCONS in the DC-Creations 1.35 ft^3 Sealed Enclosure @600W RMS Each (Kicker ZX1000.1) for quite some time now with absolutely no issues. I love these speakers and the DC enclosure is dynamite; not a single problem whatsoever. Like my previous review stated, they're loud, clear and rugged as hell. I had previously ran a couple of sets of 10" and 12" Type-Rs with this same amp and they just couldn't hang; ended up burning up multiple subs over the years. The GCONS have always stayed cool even after countless 5-10+ hour road trips. Anyway, I've always wondered how they would sound and how loud they'd b… -

Well i have been looking for some great subs for a while now and i think i have found them. I listen to a lot of rock and metal (avendged sevenfold, as i lay dying, bullet for my valentine) which has double bass in it. And i was wondering if perhaps the size of the driver would make the double bass or just bass petal kick in general sound better or worse? Also since i am lookin for the tight crisp bass i believe it would be best to go with a sealed box? Any input is greatly apreciated. -
