If this is in the wrong section, mods please move it. Otherwise, I wanted to comment on the customer service at SSA. I recently ordered a Sundown SAX-100.4 and a Sundown SAZ-2000D. I was quickly notified that there will be a wait on the 100.4 Then a couple days later I asked about the SAZ as I figured I should have had a tracking # by now and was affraid it was going to be backordered as well (such is my luck) and I got an immdediate response back that they'd check on it. To top it all off I got the response from the check practically seconds later that I should have the tracking # tonight. WOW!! is all I can say, that is some quick service. I wish customer service…

  3. Jonecon2001 had a great idea the other day and suggested we did a thread with all SSA type backgrounds. I'll make a few of our product photos and if you guys want more post up what it is and i'll get to them when I can. As I add downloadable backgrounds, they will be to the this first post, so check back often. Here's mine.. Dual screens FTW! 1.) 2.) 3.) 4.)

  4. Just curious to hear all of your responses. We know why people say not to buy it and 99 percent of the time, cost comes into the picture. The only other potential negative I've ever noticed was in terms of how some of the lower lines used to be packaged that caused a little paint damage on the basket during shipping. So assume you're around a bunch of people who've never heard of nor actually heard SSA subs. What do you say that convinces them it's a solid purchase over the competition? Asking for purely informational purposes and keep in mind I have an ICON myself on order.

  5. Just thought it was worth posting them up here from npdang's review recently. Very few companies are lucky enough to have Kippel results, especially one our size. Great quote from said review: Looks like 1-way xmag of ~19mm, close enough to rated specs. Very nicely centered curve, with good symmetry. Not as extended of a plateau as you might see with the best designs, but a terrific example of a textbook overhung motor. Typical Le curve for a motor without a faraday ring/sleeve, with inductance increasing in the rearward stroke. Appears as if suspension was perfectly mated to the capabilities of the motor. All in all, good results. I didn't observe any excess mechanical …

  6. Here's a sneak peak at whats to come. Our goals with this sub is to have a great sounded sub that can handle gobbs of power. I have a fresh Sundown 1500D waiting for this sub and a brand new text box, 2.5ft^3 @ 32hz w/43in^2 of port. Hopefully I get some time to take a short vid of the crazy amount of xmax this thing has. Denim can fill in the rest if he so chooses too, anyways, on to the pics.

Finally arrived today! Testing will begin shortly. And before anyone asks, no pricing is not set, we do not have a release date and the T/S parameters are not finalized. So with that out of the way, here are a few pictures of the prototype. There is a few possible changes that could still occur. So here are a few shots of the real one, (the teaser pictures were mostly the concept driver prior to this prototype), the silver basket 12 is the first Icon prototype I use daily in my car, and the other 8" driver placed for scale is the leader of the segment, SS RL-i 8, and a 1st run Icon 10 for fun too. No, that dust cap will not go to production, it is a blank one for te…

  11. We are getting closer and closer to the new GCON 750W RMS Series Driver. We have been referring to this driver up until now as the FCON as we were unsure what to call it officially. We are going with GCON, becuase it's hits the "spot". Here is a sneak peak at the motor. Sorry for the crappy cell phone shot, but this is all we are releasing at this time. Please don't ask for more, they will come when we can get the professional photos done.

  14. First off, let me say this is a huge announcement for our little website/forum/shop. Mark and I have dreamed of having our own line of speakers for a long time. The biggest issue was the sheer cost to start one. Recently we came across an unreal offer we had to jump on, which we are dearly greatful for. My first and foremost desire was to make a great Sound Quality subwoofer that the masses could afford. Also, I wanted to make a durable daily driver subwoofer that could handle some power with out breaking a sweat. The other wish was to have a subwoofer with the ablity to get loud in the right enclosure, not record breaking loud, but respectable if someone wanted to …

So I am going to a sound competition on sunday/may 2nd, and I am planning on entering into the street beat sb4 category, I know its just for consumers, but everyones gotta start somewhere, plus my car needs better electrical and a better amp to do anything more challenging. So does anyone have any tips for me. I have read the USACi rules already, but i'd like some tips from the more experienced. I have a ssa 15" xcon hooked up to a hifonics 1610d amp. let me know

My 15" xcon died yesterday, i was playing some music and then it died for a second came back then died again and was gone. I checked it out today the amp works fine, and the sub will hit bass when pushed and held in. I took it out of the box and when i moved it up and down there was a crunching sound along where the wires go through the spider, plus when i moved the spider the sound came for a second back. So I'm sure the wires burnt. So what do I need to do to fix this??? is there a way when I fix this to make the part more heavy duty. My last subwoofer could take twice the beating of this xcon and it never cared for the 4 years I owned it and it was powered with this sa…

  17. A few years late, but we are finally getting a very nice tweeter going that is worthy of being a part of the SSA line. The pictures below show the prototypes, they are really attractive in person and will, in production form, bare the SSA logo. See the attached files for the 4 and 8 ohm versions. They are quite smooth to my ear (aka not super bright like some metal dome tweets can be) and blend well with the Evil6.5's (vital to the design). These are not a PA style, 'screamy' tweet, these are meant for sound quality first and foremost. Possible future home audio plans. Pricing is not set just yet. These will be sold as a pair. Some quick points of info:…

Well, I was changing the subs to their new box when I noticed one of my Xcon's has a cracked magnet all the way around. I have no idea how it happened or what may have caused it. I haven't noticed any performance issues from it though. Here is the other sub which is fine here is the sub that is cracked

  20. A brief introduction to the all new SSA Demon, but first a farewell to its predecessor. Our very long running SSA Dcon has ridden off into the sunset, or at least taking a breather. The SSA Dcon was our second subwoofer model we ever launched. At the very beginning, we had the Icon and as it gained traction we saw there was a need for a pure SQ sub of more modest power rating than that the Icon. So in early 2008, the first SSA Dcon was launched. (The Xcon followed shortly after). That being said, the Dcon was almost an immediate hit, with a long 2" copper coil (rarity to have one made in the USA) triple stack motor, rear vent. The Dcon was very affordabl…

  21. Area for box max is like 27x25x21 middle might get 26 but already should be plenty big assume little under will work, will use 4 or 5 4" ports guess depends on effects of more port area on sub from what I estimated if right somewhere between 50-62 for port area, tuning preferred for all around sound and output. Not sure how the speaker will react with a little more box assume it should be ok and went with Zcon just because power is little over Xcons RMS and box from site little bigger. Hoping it helps low end, but any suggestions not sure if the Torres Tuning Calculator is correct and unlike when I lived in N California, there not real shops unless I drive 2 hours round…

hi there, i'm getting a pair of 15inch xcon pretty soon and i'm working on my box design. They'll go in an 2004 elantra gt, so hatchback. subs up, port on one side (a 10inch sonotube) with enough clearance to breath. amp is an mtx te4001d, so around 4k watt to the pair. -what's the subs displacement? -cutout -is one 10inch sono enough (box is 7.2 before all displacement, so pretty on the small size) gives around 12f -how do you think they'll react in like like 3.2-3.5 feet each? (3.5 if single baffle, otherwise 3.2) -i had tc sound's tc-9 prior, anyone know how does compare? -anything i should know about these beside that? thanks for the help in advance

One thing I have noticed about my xcon is that it hits a certain frequency range with a much greater intensity than the rest. It lacks any kind of upper bass. but the lows rock with it. So I want to know from all the people who own a xcon what songs hit the best on your xcon. I'm not asking for a general bass tester for any sub. I want to know what songs are great with a 15" xcon. What songs hit so hard that they make your doors push outward and your windshield flex. So far I have found that 1:12 into tick tock by banana inc is really loud, and bass i love you isn't half bad. But I wan't more ideas
