if you had the choice what would you take 2 12" ssd's getting 600 watts each or a 15" Q getting 1200 watts. Both would be in optimum enclosures tuned around 32HZ. I want it to be loud and be able to hit the lows and sound good while doing it.

Right now someone figured out my box was 3.8 cubes at 31hz after disp. With that, a 15" BTL with no options and a Hifonics BXi2006D I hit a 141.7. That was my best score. I am trying to hit a 150 with this one sub. I am getting alot of different inputs on box sizes to use...and I know hitting a certain score has MANY varibles...but I figured to start off..a better box could help a good bit. It is in an extended cab truck, port up and sub up. I want pretty much SPL, but it is my DD. With a new box, I am still going to be listening to music. So I figured who better to come to for box advice then the people who make the sub.

  4. I rarely see anyone running sealed on this forum. Since the Q is the only sub to run sealed, anyone with some more insight? Currently, i have a 12" kicker CVX in a 2.3cf @29hz box and I find it tuned too low for most of the music I listen to. I found someone to buy my sub/box for $200 so I'm gonna pickup a 15" Q and run it sealed. Space is a concern to me as well. I'm planning on making a box around 2.5cf after displacement and running it off my viper 1200.1 .. so 1200w @ 1 ohm. How does the Q sound sealed? I'm hoping for a slight output bump up as well as a much flatter response curve. I'm excited to go back sealed!

  6. hey guys. I've got a 2000 firebird trans am that is in need of some extra bump. I currently have 1 Resonant Engineering SX 15" in a 5.5 cu ft box at 33hz in my Yukon and it sounds amazing on music and tones. I'm wanting to do the 2 10" stealth enclosures that fit into the rear pockets of the firebird. Here's what I mean... http://www.subthump.com/acamarostealth.htm I was wondering about the SSD 10's. Do you think they would be nice for this enclosure? I know the minimum sealed enclosure is actually 0.6 cu ft. With displacenemt, I'm assuming the final volume of the box will be around 0.4-0.5 cu ft. Is this too small for this driver? What other 10" woofer would you recommen…

I currently have 2 SSD 15s (with copper coils) in my jeep wrangler. I have them in a ported box but they just arn't loud enough for me. They're on a sundown 1500d and i have another sundown sitting around waiting to be used. I'm wondering if 4 SSD 15s in a sealed box would be louder than 2 in a ported box. I don't think i have enough space to put 4 in a ported box. Would 6 SSD 15s be noticeably louder than 4? With 2 i can give them more power than they can handle. With 4 they'll probably get about 750 rms each. With 6 they'll probably get about 500 rms each. Is the increase in cone area worth the decrease in power per woofer? I'm planning to make a fiberglass box so i thi…

Well im not sure what to choose SPL or Daily on a BTL. I want to find a sub that i can Use for Daily and SPL. Does the SPL setting sound like complete ass on music or is it not to bad? Is the daily still pretty good for competing? My woofer is great for daily but not good for competing unless i buy another since its dual 6 ohm. and im a single set up guy. Anyone compete with the daily setting? Anyone listen to music with the SPL setting? thanks

In my search for some subs I've been pointed to this forum. I'm looking to replace a set of 12'' Type-R's. The Type-R's were a decent SPL sub but I'm looking more for SQ. I'm hoping to achieve the SQ and SPL same as, or close to a W7. I listen to 50/50 rap/rock. As of now my plan is...... 2 12" Q Series 2ohm Box & Amp: 2 Alpine MRD-M1005's (each 1000x1 at 2ohm) Sealed rectangular Box 1.3 cuft per sub 1999 4 door Tahoe. behind the second row, subs facing downwards Also... I have no idea what the BP does. Whats recommended RMS with that option. Thanks for the help Alex

I was thinking.... Right now I have a 15" BL with an RF T10001BD amp, its loud, very loud. I want a more sensible setup but attempt to keep the same sub output, I don't think its possible. I want small box, small amp, and still be able to do 140s. I know thats not possible. I just want to reclaim my trunk space back and my spare tire and jack!!! With that huge box in my tC there is no more trunk space!!!! Now I am getting kinda tired of hauling around a 100lbs box... Ok I'm done ranting....you may return to your regularly schedule program.

I decided to sell my old 12's and go with a single 12 inch install. Im looking at the 12" SSD dual 2 ohm. IM looking to build a single ported box to replace my dual 12 ported box in my civic. I have a memphis mono 1000D for an amp. I decided to not go with a man stream name like i have in the past and try something new and have heard nothing but good things about FI. So any help on this subject would be aprreciated. I mainly listen to rap and metal. Also i was wondering if my 1000D memphis would be a good match for this sub and also i was curious about about how much does a 12 inch SSD weigh? total or magnet weight? Thanks

I am having a problem fitting my 15" Q in my trunk, I have built a box and there is just no way to make it happen...is there any chance I can switch and get the 12" Q? I know its a lot to ask, but I have the 15" Q, its never been run, and I still have the packaging so I can ship it back to you. Let me know what you can do.

Hey guys, i need help with a box design and unfortunately im strapped on time. If someone could help me out with some plans with these specs i would be greatly in debt. Box is for 2 12's ( .15 displacement per) tuned to 32hz - slot port centered on box double baffle 3.6 cubic ft total 36w x 16h x ??d I need the width and height to stay at 36 and 16. I tried using subwoofertools.com but the program wouldn't give me 36x16x?? but rather 32.5 x 16 x 23.5 or something. Once again if someone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Just to give you guys an idea of a score these can put up... 142.5 outlaw on a Hifonic BXI1206d, stock electric, 4 gauge wire. Done in a 1988 Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon. Box was 3.75ft^3. 46Hz. Burp done at 48 Hz. Being it was my first even I got nervouse on the sweep and screwed that, so had no peak freq yet. So Being as my peak was 46 in my old Subaru wagon with a different box I figured it could be round abouts there. At 140ish Dbs my CD player started to skip, so I was stuck rolling the volume and capped at 142.5. Only imagine if I knew my peak and the CD player didnt skip . Just thought I would post the score. Remember, 3.75 cubes, 15" SSD, stock electric probably getti…

I finally was able to order the 10" Q I wanted. It's been about a year and a half since I've had any kind of a decent system so I am very happy. It will be going in a 91 MR2 turbo which is a 2 seater so I had to go with a small sealed box. With how small the cabin is it will still get loud regardless and from what I hear about the Q it will sound damn good too. I've already got the rest of my system installed so all I'll have to do when the Q comes is drop it right in. Here are some pics Alpine head unit: http://www.carpron.com/multisite/d/119467-1/threegauge3.jpg Directed amp powering some CDT comps and a Hifonics amp rated at 1500rmw for the Q.
