I have a 12" BTL with pole chamfer and my Memphis MCD2500 amp is coming in soon. I want to get everything ready so when the amp arrives I can install it right away. This is my mustang 2004 stock electrical: 130-amp. heavy-duty alternator 540 CCA heavy-duty battery Battery amp hours (58Ah) Battery-rundown protection I will be doing the big 3 wire upgrade with 1/0 gauge wire from batt to alt to ground. Besides that, what else should I invest in? I'm trying to keep it as budget as possible. Thanks. PS> This is my daily driver.

I don't compete and would like a SQ/LOUD SOUND QUALITY setup and am having the hardest time designing a box to use. Obviously Fi recommends a sealed enclosure and that's what I was going to do originally until I started playing around in WinISD. Now I'm completely unsure so I figured I'd ask you guys. How do you guys think a 12" Fi Q would sound in a 2.3 cu ft enclosure tuned to 24-25hz as opposed to a 1.3 cu ft sealed enclosure? I can't upload the WinISD output on my current connection but I will after midnight when I get home.

I just received my fully loaded 12" Q with high qts option. Was wondering if anyone has been trying or testing sealed enclosures and has some recommendations/tips? I love lows. Had an 18" Q tuned to 28hz for a while but the box is just far too large and heavy for me. Im thinking of building it 1.5-1.75cuft while empty and putting some poly fill against the inner walls... not sure how the box size is affecting the woofer's output exactly.

Does any1 have a 12" Q in a sealed around 1 cubic feet? I want to know if the q will get loud in a sealed. Im thinking of replacing my 2 JL 10W7 with 1 12" Q or maybe I should just power 1 JL 10w7. The 2 w7s take up my whole trunk and i just want to get some of my trunk back. I have enough to put a Q in a sealed enclosure but have around 1.5-1.7 cubic feet for ported. My amp does around 800-900 watts at 4 ohms or 1600watts at 1 ohms so dual 2 ohms it is. Should I just keep 1 of my jl 10w7 and port it? Will that sound close to a 12 Q sealed?

I recently purchased a 12" Q series sub. I am installing it in a ported enclosure and I am curious to the size and tuning. After purchasing the sub I found a deal too good to pass up on an amp that is a little underpowered for the Q. It is a kicker zx750.1. It puts out between 800-900 watts rms. I see on the pinned topic at the top the recommended ported enclosure is 1.8-2.5@ 28-33hz. With 12-16 square inches of port volume. My question is should I change the box size or port area since the speaker will not be driven at full rms power? I want to get as much out of the speaker as I can with the power I have available. I thought I would ask on here instead of calling seeing…

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the car audio world, being that I'm only 16. But I have worked all summer and have finally saved up enough for my first system. I want to get a 12" Q and I want to build my own box but I want to get it all planned out before I start ordering everything. I have designed up a ported box that is 25"x20.25"x14.625" and is tuned to 32 Hz and has a net internal volume of 2.2 cubic feet. My question is how much bracing do I need to use and I know that it will reduce the volume, but what will that do to the frequency of the box?

I just got rid of my suv and bought a car and I plan on putting my Q in my car but don't want to use the same box because it's just too big. Right now it's in 2.5 cubes at 32. I was thinking about going sealed for SQ but then again I want it to be loud enough for the sound to come from the trunk into the cabin of the car. I'm a low end feind, so I definitely want the lows. For a mixture of SQ and SPL while retaining some trunk space I was thinking 1.8cuft (FI recommended minimum) tuned low to like 28-30. How would this work compared to going sealed in 1.5 cubes?

What size ports are you guys using for your Q's? I'm building a custom fiberglass enclosure for my standard cab and i need some info on what people saw was the best result. I will be using round ports. To sum it up, what size diameter, length port do i need to not have port noise and have excellent sound. I was going to build it exactly to 2.5 cuft with displacement and port. Should i make the enclosure smaller? what are peoples views on this-Thanks

Ok, well Im trying all I can do to get some cf out of the box that im making to go under my back seat of my truck... I have figured out I can get about .74 cf out of my box but i might be able to get another .1-.2 cf out of it.... If it stays at the .74 cf, what would that do to the sound? I can use polly fill in it also, would that help? And if i can manage to get it up to .8-.9 before displacement, how much better would that be because it will be a decent ammount of work to get those extra few tenths of a cf...

Hey guys. Im about to pull the trigger on a 12" SSD. My question before I do is can I reverse mount the sub? The space is kind of tight for the setup im trying to achieve and this would be my best option. Also I have a Diamond Audio amp already on hand. It can push 800rms @ 2 ohm and 1200rms @ 1ohm. Which would be my best option.? I was thinking of getting the 12" Q if it is a better option but was hoping to go with the SSD. Im already pushing 300rms to my DLS comp. up front. from a seperate amp. Im looking for an LSQ setup. Sorry for the winded post and thousand questions. Thanks for your help......

I ordered a 12in fi bl with cooling and flatwind to run from a hifonics brutus brz1700.1. It will be putting out 1700rms at 1 ohm and the sub is dvc 2 ohm. I was planning on a box with the dimensions of 30x30x15 with a 2.75 in port. I was going to tune it to 34 hz so how long should the port be? Or should I get an aero port instead? I want the loudest possible setup with what i have.

Hello all, need some input from the pros. Currently have my Q in a box from obcon (1.25 cuft before displacement) that a friend gave me. The enclosure is made of paperish mdf that basically turns to dust so its time I get a proper box. Now my question is, should i make it for the max 1.5cuft after displacement? Want to keep the notes tight. Also I have it powered with a rockford t1000-1bdcp (birth 1366 @ 2ohms). Thanks in advance for the help.

Well , finally got them in for recone. I had the pair ported on 1000w total and it was pretty good. I am going sealed now with 1000w on each woofer. (Zapco Studio 500 on each 4 ohm mono) So I see Nick really like the 1.1 sealed and other like the sealed in the 1 cu. Ft. range. My concern is for such a small box is that its not playing deep enough. I was leaning toward a slight larger, maybe 1.3 cu ft or so after displacement I would like to hear anything anyone has to say. Beat me up a little.

sealed up at the kicks i hit a 144.8 with my single 12" BL. at the dash sealed i got a 144.3 the meter was an audio control. and i lost 1 db when i opened the window. song i used was airforces and hypnotize. they both did about the same number. Basically what i want to know is if this is a good number for a single twelve trunked car? could i get it higher by using a 50 hz test tone or somthing?

The 15 inch BL box recommendations are (BL 15 – Ported box we recommend using 2.8-4 cubic feet @ 28-37Hz. Again use 12-16 square inches of vent area per cubic foot of volume) Im not exactly sure what size and hz i should tune my box to. I have one 15 BL fully loaded ment for daily personal use. Any recommendations on what will give my the best bang for my buck?
