I'm looking at upgrading my subs in the near future to a 15" Q. Could someone give me an idea on the outer box dimensions so I can see if a 15 will fit in my 1994 Mazda 626. looking for about the 4 cu. ft. net tuned to 30-32 Hz. I'm limited to about 17" high by about 30" wide. I assume with those dimensions I'll likely have to go with the sub facing up. Is there any potential problems with this? If it doesn't work out with the 15 I'll have to get a 12 instead.

well ive had my btl in for a few months now, but now, i want something louder. I also want to free up some room in my backseat, just because my current box is HUGE back there. what im wanting to do is recone my 15" fully loaded to a 12", and build a better/stronger box for it. i plan in the future getting a second 20.1, strapping them and adding a couple of batteries. I really want to break 150 on music, would i have a possibilty with a set up like that? i know its all install dependent, but with a good install, could that be possible, without having a fart box?

From the dimension the only way to fit the sub is firing up. I will give you designs for both rear and up firing ports... you can choose which works best …

Hey guys, I m back.. I was here like a month or two ago.. I was collecting the informations I need for my new set up.. Then finally, I got the set up done.. I have a 15" Fi Q D2, Ported box tuned at 26hz, JBL GTO 1201.1 II amplifier.. PICS: BUT I have a problem here.. I grabbed a deal for the box and sub combo when I needed a Q that is D1 not D2.. But the sub I got is D2.. So I am stuck with 4 ohm load on the sub since JBL amp is 2 ohm or 4 ohm stable only.. It cannot go lower than 2 ohm.. At 4 ohm(which it is running on right now) load, it is only 787 watts RMS.. If it is at 2 ohm load, it would be 1200 watts rms.. It already sounds sweet at 787 watts rms.. i can…

I have been building my brothers blazer for stereo competition. I have the build in the build log area under "walling an s-10 blazer". The system is Four MA Audio 802sx amps (about 2500 watts RMS) to four 15inch fully loaded BLs with the SPL option and they are dual one ohm. The amps are then running at 1/2 ohm mono. They are in a 23 cubic foot box with a port mouth of 32 x 9 inches and it is 2 1/4 inches deep. Our best test score today was a 153.7 at 51 hz. We tried longer ports but the one we started with is the loudest so far. We have not tried making the port mouth smaller and it can not be any bigger. We also have not tried putting stuff in the box to take up…

I haven't built it yet I am just exploring options and found a design I kind of like. 8 cu. ft. tuned to 34 hz with 101.25 square inches of port. The port opening will be 4.5 " wide and 21.5" long. The box dimensions are 33x24x27.5 overall. It will be a crx style box , and will go inside of the cab of a 2000 chevy silverado. I plan on pointing the port towards the driver's side and have the sub behind the passengers seat. Do these specs seem alright to everyone? Would a different direction with the ports yield better results? Does that tuning seem alright or should I go lower/ higher? I want SPL but also enjoy the low notes that a highly tuned box sometimes lack. If any…

First post guys, so please bear with me... I'm looking at a 12" Q for my sealed enclosure. Here's the thing, I've got an enclosure that's .88 cu.ft. I did the search and came up with what seems to be a optimum 1.2 to 1.3 cu. ft. Here's the question, how will this driver respond in the .88 sealed with 750w rms? Thanks guys.

I was wondering if the BTL or BL could be run in a sealed box. The Fi site doesnt have any dimensions for sealed boxes. If they cant be used in a sealed box, why? Is it because they just wouldnt sound good? Just wondering. Thanks guys

I am needing box plans for a FI.Q 12. I know I could probably go out and buy one, but I would rather build it myself. I am planning on making 1.3 cubes like recomended as optimal. I don't want just a square box though. I would like it to be 4 sided with a little slope in the front. I'm sure you know what I am talking about, I hope. Anyway if you could tell me the size height, depth1(bottom), depth2(top), width, and angle that the slopes on the front usually are, I would appreciate it very much.

I was plan of buying 4 Fi BL series 15's. I needed to know how much RMS wattage could the speakers really take. I am going with the flatwind voicecoil, with the cooling option, and the daily driver. I already have an amp in mind that puts out 4kw. If the speakers can take a little more I will looking into maybe a 5kw amp. I do plan to use a bass processor in line with the amp. I am open to any suggestions.

I've been searching google for a long time now, trying to find the actual formula. I have always used an online calculator when building my boxes, and ended up just building where I thought looked good. I was using this calculator here: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 because I am wanting to build a new enclosure for my yukon, but I keep getting different figures depending on if the width of the port is larger, or the height. I want to build a box with 20ft after displacement so each btl will have its minimum 5ft. I was going to see how long I needed to make the slot port if I just stretched it across the bottom of the box. The box external dimensions are…

Hey I'm hoping to have a Sonic FX Q 12" very soon (assuming DHL can find it ) I was wondering if you guys could recone it in the worst cast scenario were it gets blown??? It is very similar (practically the same thing) to Incriminator Audio's Death Penalty series, (in case you don't recognize the sub). I was just wondering what soft parts you would use in reconing it??? BTL, BL, Q ???? If you need more info on the sub let me know and I'll try and find it for ya. Thanks! Jon

Hey guys, I think i'm going to be purchasing a Q12. I have reservations that I have the space for an adequete box though. I have a 2002 BMW 325i. Here are a few pics of the way my backseat/trunk is (borrowed from a bimmer forum): and i was hoping to have it look something like this when it was complete: As you can see the setup is geared towards a show car, but I do actually drive the car around quite a bit, so sound quality is a concern of mine. How practical would something like that setup be for sound quality? SPL doens't matter as much for me. Thanks

How much is one of those shipped to 68510? Also before you build it is it possible to have you guys put the biggest lead wires on there (like the ones you shipped me), because When I took mine apart to fix the wires it worked fine but the copper wire broke right next to the coil, and now I have no copper wire to solder the lead wires to. let me know if there is a way to fix this problem. Also would it be possible to send you the sub I have and get 2 10" Q's and a little bit more money in exchange? I think that I am going to go for sound quality this year, since I have a bigger car now. thanks Chris [email protected]

This happens to me several times (actually everytime I turn up the volume). Just playing like 10-15 mins and I could smell the VC. When I touch its hot (not to the point where you can cook eggs with it) but just wondering whether I am killing the Q slowly if not quickly. the amp also runs hot but amps are made that way (thats why they have heatsink). Is my sub ok with it or is it with the low voltage and high current thinggy... thanks Wynold

Mainly for the bigger heavier 18 inchers but not excluding other sizes.I'm curious to see what you use.Bolts, screws, clamps etc.Do you switch from screws to bolts at certain weights and so on.

Ok so I have an Fi BTL. And my car is a hyundai tiburon. The sub is 15 inches. Right now it is in a box i built for my old 15 inch type R. The box is not made of MDF it is made of particle board. The box is 2.83 cubes and it is tuned to about 34hz. I am Building a new box tonight which will be made out of mdf, dimensions will be height=16.5 width=36 depth=15.5 with a 3 inch port and tned to 34hz. it will give me 3.56cubes. Do you think I will notice an actual differnce in sound from this?
