Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. Started by fuzzyping,

I'm happy with my current setup, but I think the imaging and midbass could be improved. Here is my current system: Head Unit: Pioneer DEH-P5900iB Front Stage: JBL P650c comps (tweeter in sail panel, woofer in door panel) FS Amp: Sundown Audio SAX-100.4 (active) Subwoofer: SoundSplinter RL-i8 SS Amp: Sundown Audio SAX-100.2 (bridged @ 8 ohms) The tweeters are mostly on-axis, so I get very little front/center imaging. I was thinking about getting a set of Q-Logic kick panels for my 4Runner, moving the JBL comps there, and getting dedicated midbass drivers for the doors. Space in the doors is very limited; I originally bought Seas comps but they won't fit. The proposed p…

I'm redoin my setup this year and want to see if any of you have any thoughts about my new setup just in case i may have missed a possible setup design.. So, i will hand the specs over to you guys and tell me what you would do with the following- 4,400w of power = 2,200w @1ohm per amp Possible Internal volume = 15.5 Cubes! Displace 1.5-2.00 cubes for port = 13.5-14.0 cubes plus sub displacement. Baffle room - room that is capable of fitting a select number of subwoofers- 16 8s 8 10s 8 12s 4 15s 2 18s (note this is baffle room, you must account for internal required volume for proper suggestion) Price limit - $900 I pretty much already have my mind made up, just wondering…

Hi everyone I have a couple of questions regarding a build that I will be helping a friend with. He has a 96 ford f150 ext cab and wants sub(s) underneath the back seats, front firing. We're thinking something along the lines of a 8" woofer or woofers. we've measured the area and there's enough height for a 8" sub (there's about 12in of space) and depth there's about 16-18in of space. And width there's about 30in of space. He doesn't want the sub to stick out he wants it either flush with the seat or a little bit less. He wants to buy a sundown 100.2 which is most likely going to happen. (thanks ohjay) and run it bridged 4 ohms @ 400watts. Now, what sub(s) should we…

here is a few pics of a box i just finished for a explorer....the install pic is on another camera.....anyway, the amp was doa, so no beats yet.....however i did hook this up in my truck off my amp, giving them about 600 wrms, and while they aren't my 15's..they are indeed loud and very clean oh yeah..they are in 1.75ft^3 apiece and the box has a fs of 38hz..well, according to mtx specs...so does that mean that it is tuned to 38hz? anyway, it is my first time carpeting a box and i almost didn't have enuff, so in the process a nasty seam was created..but it faces the back seat, so it won't be seen ........ also...i charged $150 including materials, which came to $65 or so..…

i came across PAP WMD 18's for only 175 per on their website. does anyone have any input on these things? power handling? (says 1,000) weight? whats theyre best tuned at and box size? how they hit lows or are they straight comp subs? anything is appreciated cuz 175 for a normally 400 dollar woofer seems too low, or maybe something worth jumping all over

Has anyone used these subs? Im currently running two wired at 4 ohm bridged to a 2 Channel Planet Audio 2600.2. Its getting 1800 rms. Can these subs safely be over powered because i know some subs are rated lower than what they can actually take. Also, if anyone has used these subs, have you ever been metered?

  22. Im getting 2 Pioneer Premier TS-W3001 subs. Trying to figure out if I need to get the Dual 2 or Dual 4 version if I use a Kenwood Excelon KAC-X1R amp and want to wire it for the full 1200 watts to each sub and in series or parallel? Also same question for a Cadence ZRS-6500D to get the 1200 watts to each sub?

Sup guys just sittin here thinkin about what speaker setup I'll have in my sentra. Nothing too much or fancy but better than stock and budget-minded. It'll be coaxials and I've researched for some good budget speakers like pioneer kenwood massive audio planet audio etc. The other day I was at walmart and I checked out what they have for sale and I saw pioneers! 6"1/2 pioneer TS-g1643R's 180w max These were actually really nice looking (I asked to look at them) But the fact that it's from walmart sort of prevented me from buying.. I mean pioneer is pioneer right? Where it's sold doesn't really affect it's quality.. But out of curiosity would you have bought them and p…

I just noticed the new Pioneer Stage 4 line on the Crutchfield website and they are very expensive for anything pioneer that i have seen. I have a Pioneer Premier headunit (cant remember exact model) and i love it, it has all the features i could ask for so that is so different about this new HU and the new speakers? According to pioneers website they are an audiophile grade set. does anyone have any experience with them and know if they are worth the money?

I was on ca.com and saw a set of these for sale and I want to get them. But one of the tweeters is blown. Can I order a new set of tweeters from madisound or somewhere and hook them up to the pioneers passive crossover? Or would it sound bad because the crossover isn't made for those tweeters? I can't go active with them because I only have a 2 channel Sundown but for the price the guys asking I wanted to give these a shot.
