I've been thinking of doing 4 DCON 15"s. I need help deciding if I should do s4 or d4 voice coils. I haven't chose an amp yet because I wanted to make sure I was getting the right equipment.

i was wondering what guage wire i have to use on a Fi BL 12" subwoofer to wire it down... im sure there is a technical name for this but all i know to call it is wireing it down to 1 ohm... so the wire i will be using inside of the enclosure to run it to the terminal for power and what guage i will be running to wire off the speaker to 1 ohm.... does it really matter? i have i think 14 guage "speaker wire" maybe it mean that i can use it for everything wired to the speaker but i dont know for sure... any clearing up of this would help a lot... thanks in advance! i will be running a 1600 watt amp BTW

  3. I know this may be a dumb question..but i believe a dumb question is one that was never asked!! so if someone would clear this up for me i'd appreciate it! ok my buddy just sold me his 15" fi Q dvc 1ohm... i already have a kicker cvx dvc 4ohm now i am gonna buy another fi Q but money is an issue right now and i need some knock right now so the question is if i wire the fi q down to 2ohms and wire the cvx to 2ohms will it be a 1ohm load or not? and why? i know they are different voice coils but 2 subs dropped to 2ohms=1ohm and my amp is 1ohm stable, would this work or will it fry my amp?

  4. Let's talk about subwoofers in general, which way will it perform the best, subs facing upwards(the roof) or facing towards the rear end? just wondering since i ve seen a lot of people doing upwards around here.. unless i just dont notice anyone that points their subs towards the rear end..

This is my first install in a four door sedan. So sorry for the noob question I will be using a single 15 in a ported enclosure in my trunk. My question is, will I have a better/louder low end if I have my sub pointed towards the rear hatch or if it is pointed towards the rear seat? BTW there is about 10"-12" separating the enclosure and rear hatch. Thanks!

I'm looking for suggestions for a single 10" sub for a sealed box. I have a 700w rms amp @ 2 ohms that will be powering it. I will build the box to specs. Budget is around $250 max I listen to all genres of music, and am really just looking for the loudest sub while still retaining decent SQ. Please don't suggest a ported box, I'm not interested in one.

  10. I have a Diamond TDX 15" , in a 2.65 cu ft. box, GROSS, so it's probly right near 2.25 after all dispacement. It's ran off a Memphis 1000D . Ported with 2, 3" round ports 14-1/2" long each. According to the Diamond Tech line this is at 34 hz. and it slams pretty good. BUT , it' still lacking to me! This is in an 04' Pontiac Grand Am trunk, there is more space but I need it for the kids things and my wifes. Also access to the spare tire for road trips etc. So I want to either switch to 2-10" Quality subs or 2-12" quality subs that will give the same SQ. but more output ! It does real good but is a little bit lacking in the bottom end (because of port size) . I couldn't g…

I am getting a new 2001 mustang soon and looking into a new system to put in it. I measured and the largest box i could possibly fit into the trunk is 15x28x38. Somewhere suggested 2 SDC2.512-D4 and a AQ1200D which would run me a little under 600.I would like to be able to hit lows pretty good if possible. I was just wondering if this would work or if there is anything else that would be a better fit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey ive posted before here asking about what subs i should buy to fit in the trunk of a 2004 dodge intrepid but never really came to a decision. But with the black friday sale i really want to make up my mind fast. I have a regular battery in the front and an xs 3400 in the rear. Did big 3 in 00 wire. And im getting a new alternator. Im not sure what amps i need to get to have sufficient power for 2250 watts rms. Any suggestions. For subs so far i like the idea of 1 15 in zcon, or 2 12 in icon, or possibly 3 10 in gcon. Im not sure if any of those are practical or not, so im completely open to suggestion. For enclosure im not sure if i will do ported or sealed it all d…

  14. Okay, so I'm wanting to build a box into my worthless backseat area in my mustang and reverse mount a 18 which should look sweet as hell. I'm not walling it into the trunk though, I dont /think/ anyway, it will depend on if I can fit it or not. The point is 1: to keep my trunk space open and 2: to avoid firing in the trunk at all to avoid all the nasty trunk rattles. 3: to look badddass. Here is a picture to get the idea, a mix of both is what I'm going for. Question is, does anyone have experience with mustang cabin responses, etc that can recommend me away or towards a specific sub? I'm going to have about 2500~ RMS to a single 18. I was thinking a ZCON initially, as …

Looking for an SQ sub that gets pretty loud and still clear. I have a Kicker zx1500.1, rated at 1687 RMS at 2 ohms, so that's around 840 RMS at 4. I don't care if it's a a 12 or 15 as long as it fits in my trunk. I like the IDMax but it's too expensive. I really don't want to spend more than 300. I also like the Fi Q 15" but I'm afraid 1687 is too much and 840 is not enough. Any suggestions?

  17. So a friend decided to go ahead and buy the same sub I have. With me being the loudest in the area he is now the loudest since his is in a hatchback while mine is in an SUV. My question is what upgrade should I go for? With 40 inches wide and 25 deep for the top, 6 12s would be difficult to fit unless I angled the top baffle. I also couldn't do more than three 15s unless, again, the top is angled. A second 18 would be doable but I want opinions on which would sound louder. The plan is a wall behind the C pillar, behind the second row. It's all just planning now, however.

Hi guys and gals first post not new to the car audio world but been out of it for a long time . I already have a system in my 2010 Silverado crewcab . I'm running the JL audio stealth box with 2 JL 10w3 subs that came with it . About 800 watts rms . I had the same amp with the same subs in my other car but with a custom ported box . Wow I loved that system . But in my truck I was limited on space and the JL audio prebuilt sub box was just very convenient and ready for installation so I went that direction. Yes it very nice and decent but after 6 years I'm ready for more . I want to keep the box under the rear bench seat but I know that running my 2 JL 10"s mig…

  22. Alright so I decided to go for the two Sundown E series 12" subwoofers rather than the SA series 15" subwoofer. I was told and thought the answer was reasonable, that two 12" E series will have better SQ and SPL than a single SA series 15" sub. I was wondering if anyone had them(The E series 12's), and would recommend a certain Ported enclosure size, I'm going to use Aero Ports... My max dimensions are 14h x 34w x 20d. I don't want to go any bigger, I'd enjoy a little wiggle room in my trunk. Height and Width are maxed, Depth can be extended quite a bit. I'm thinking of tuning my box to around 30-35Hz. Has anyone had these subs in a ported enclosure, can you give me fee…

  23. Hi. I am trying to install a small amp that will also supply some great Bass tones both deep and High and was wondering which one of these companies to use. I have heard alot of great things about both of them and they are. "Sundown Audio SA-8 V2 D4" Or "Digital designs DD1008". If anyone can help please let me know something and thank you.

  24. Hi guys new to this site, and I seem to be having a problem, I have 3 SA-8's been running them for a few months, love em, but the other day, I noticed one of them wasnt playing, and one of the other was moving very little compared to the other, so I figure a terminal connection had come loose, so I pull it out of the box to find that the tinsel leads are burned right through, on both subs near the center, , now when I depress the center I get no scratching whatsoever, and looking through the vents the coil looks prestine, and im very much wondering why this has happened, as I have an alpine pdx m-12 so the subs aee getting rated power, as well they are in a 2.1 ^3ft tuned…
