What do you guys think would be a better choice. 1 SSA Icon 10" ported, or, 1 SSA Icon 12" sealed?

I'm highly considering purchasing these for my suv but I haven't been able to really find a good review anywhere online. I was wondering if any of you guys have installed them or know a link to a good review. Thanks!

I'm looking for suggestions for a single 10" sub for a sealed box. I have a 700w rms amp @ 2 ohms that will be powering it. I will build the box to specs. Budget is around $250 max I listen to all genres of music, and am really just looking for the loudest sub while still retaining decent SQ. Please don't suggest a ported box, I'm not interested in one.

Having never heard an Icon 10" in a sealed box I was wondering if it would be worth the money to upgrade the JL 10w3v3 that is currently in my JL stealth box? Box volume is .625 and is located under the center console in a 2006 toyota tundra double cab. I currently have a 500 watt RF powering it but I would upgrade the amp too if I did the switch. Basically I'm wondering if it would be significantly louder. I understand that a small sealed box isn't ideal for "loud" but it was nice keeping my back seat. Any opinions would be appreciated.

here i go with my first post and a (very likely) stupid question. I want to build a box, or augment my current box(2x10") to house a 12" & 10" sub so as to realize the advantages of both. box is separated into two equal, sealed sections. lets assume i can accommodate the volume requirements of the 12 accurately enough. can I just wire them separately on each channel of my amp and let'er rip? or am I missing something?

I built this box for my sons Scion. I did it this way so we could still use the area for light duty cargo space. 1.8 ft^ @34 hz with the port running straight along the back. It hit's decent for the L7 10 and Cadence 600ish watts. I know this isn't a killer build but as of right now I only have about $200 in the HU, amps, sub, and comp sets. Budget build for a kid kinda thing. Unfinished because I'm still on the fence... Messy here too for now... Here's the current port exit area. It's a little tighter toward the bottom than I like and why I brought all this up. I've been thinking of switching to a Sundown SA-12 in the same box running the same amp. Is the downfire/…

I am going to make my first attempt at a fiberglass enclosure for a single DCON 10. It will be right near the ideal 1.25 cu. ft. But it is a stealth install in a side well in the hatch area of my wagon. I actually use my cargo space. The question comes in terms of ports. I would like to go with aero ports for ease of use. My box won't be very deep so port length will be difficult to attain and keep tuning in the low 30's. What are some thoughts or recommendations? Could I go with Two 2" aeros? Final length would need to be about 12 total inches so two 6" long ports? A single 3" would need to be about 15" long and is not possible. Would two 3" ports be better?

And they are MINT condition...

Have a 12" GCON in a sealed box. It sounds great but I am wanting more and I know the sub will give it to me if I can put it in the right enclosure. I used the ICON enclosure design for the sealed box it is in now, would the ICON ported design work well for the GCON as well? It falls into the optimal range, 2.5f^3 tuned to 33hz. It is a 2 ohm sub with 500 watts powering it in the trunk of a '96 accord. I have about 32" x 20" x 18" to work with. Anyone have any experience or recommendations for a ported box design that will work well with the GCON?

  13. I am looking for advice on which 12" sub to buy, at the moment I am looking between the 12W7 and the 12" AA Havoc. Unfortunately, quality subs are fairly rare here in Australia, so I haven't listened to either (have listened to W6 and liked the sound of it). My current situation is a 10" Polk MM, mounted in a custom box I built, sitting on the center of the rear seats (in an Isuzu pickup truck so very limited space) but I will build a bigger box for the 12" and place it on the seat behind the drivers seat. For me to import either from the US will make the price very much the same, so that isn't really a major factor. I am open to suggestions of other subs too, around this…

  17. Hello! I have a 2000 Camaro with a thunderform 10" sub box (http://thunderforms...._2002/show.html). I was about to get some crappy pioneers but then I came across SSA and am considering the DCON, Skar VVX, maybe a GCON, or something one of you might recommend. My concern is that because the box is so limited (.6 ft3 sealed) if these subs will still sound any good, because I understand that they are engineered to be tuned and be in the right box. I'd be getting a new amp to btw, i'm thinking the Audiopipe APSM-1500. Let me know if you recommend a sub or if you think one of these wouldn't be a good choice for me. Any feedback would really help!

This thread on SMD was pretty interesting. Pretty much guy buys a no name sub that is the same as another name brand sub for 3x less, then other poster sheds some light on how much imported subs really cost and how most of the money is marketing. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/152076-vvme-12-ebay-mystery-subs-12000-for-2/page__st__180 http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/325679659/car_subwoofer.html

  25. Hey everybody im trying to decide what to upgrade to. The above listed subs are what im considering, I listen to mostly bass heavy music like dubstep, and swisha house or any other kind of screwed music. I plan on putting the new sub in a slot ported box not 100 on the tuning just yet the sub will have to be dual 4ohm and im going to be powering it with a R E Audio DTS-1500.1 which is rated at 700x1 at 2ohms. Everybody just let me know what u think?? P.S the sub will be in a 91 civic hatch and will be a 12 thanks all in advance D.
