Hey guys, new to the forum here. Starting a build for my single cab. What I have to work with (30-33" L, 10" W, 15-20" H) has limited me to a set of (2) 8's it seems, even though physically I have the volume for 10's or a 12. I have it dialed down to a few subs and I was curious what you guys think? This topic is beating a dead horse, I know. But I'm looking to throw 7-800 RMS on each 8. Looking for something that has some authority in the 32-36 hertz range. My music is 99% rap or decaf with some low bass. Some rock here and there but not enough to justify changing dimensions of box for it. I'm working with Bassahaulics on a box build. For subs I've dialed it down to thes…

I don't want to upgrade my amp at the moment so I have to use my Skar rp1500.1, its just north of 1400 watts RMS at 1 ohm. I want to get the most bass I can but I can't decide which sub to go with? I'm leaning toward a single VXF-15 but I was hoping to hear some other ideas. I currently have 2 JL Audio Kappa 120.9s in a sealed box and I want to replace them to get some actual bass. These sound nice but I want something that can actually handle the power I have to offer. These are a wimpy 350 watts each . Regarding enclosure size, like most people I want to keep some trunk space, 4 cubes is max. So what would you do?

So, I have a sundown ZV4 15 that I bought off someone online. I knew it had been previously reconed. I've only had it for about 3 months and now only when it hits higher bass notes like 45hrts and up I get this annoying vib. Anything under 45hrts even low 20's it sounds beautiful. Did the person that previously reconed it do something wrong or what. And how do I go about building a new kit?

  5. Question in title If a subwoofer is meant for a 1.6 cubic ft ported enclosure, but let say I put it in a 1.8 or 2.0 cubic ft one, what exactly are the risks and/or consequences? Also, what would happen if a port is too small for the sub? what if the port is too big (too wide/long)?

I am going to buy a 1500W amp and thinking of purchasing a U series Sundown Audio 12” subwoofer, I have a Sound Ordnance BassBunker ported for 1.83 cubic foot volume with 34 hertz frequency. This sub says it needs 2.0ft^3 for ported, will my box be just enough to use this sub or not? I don’t want to really build/purchase new box as I just got this one. Any info would be helpful!

  8. So I’ve narrowed my choices down to the FI Q Neo 15 and the FI BTL Neo 15. My indecision is which would be best for my tastes/application. I’ve never had a system as quality as what I’m looking to get into, so I’d like to get everything right and feel satisfied with the end result. I’ve had 1 15” l7 and 2 12” l7 over the last 6 years. Both systems were adequate, however, the most recent system being the 2 12s wasn’t put together properly by the audio shop I had install and build the box for them to be housed in. Long story short; the box and wiring didn’t jive with the setup, which burnt my coils and broke the surround on both subs. They were dual 4 ohm wired to a Hifonic…

  9. Hi All, I am currently looking to upgrade my two Audioque HDS3.1 (probably 4-5 years old or so, but still in good condition) which is currently paired with a SKAR SK-2500. They sound great but I am looking for deeper and lower bass so I was considering getting just one large sub (a 15" or 18"). I currently have a car audio battery so I think I have enough power and have just recently understood that more cone surface area equals deeper and fatter bass. I currently have a 2003 Lexus GS300 so probably will lay it in the trunk. I think the amplifier is pretty good unless any of you have any different opinions, I am very open to hearing about it. Thank you all! Curr…

Well bad news. Was about to order the second level 6 18 but apparently all the m4 motors are gone. Theve just released the m5 motor. Soo it was all up in the air over either some sp4v2's or new btl neo's. Tried contacting FI three separate times over the past few months with no response. Thus it looks like I shall order a pair of evils in the next couple weeks. I'm not bashing. But I've seen the service ssa provides. And that's the service I'd like to get as a paying customer. God knows this isn't a cheap hobby.

Ok life's been hectic. Accepted a job offer starting out almost five bucks more an hr than I make now.. after 3 years. The audio has been on hold. Looking for a tahoe or gmc yukon. Just want opinions. Either going to order my second dc level 6 18.. or just order a pair of ssa evil 18s. For the price of one sub is close to just ordering the evils. And I know y'all are biased. But that's ok. I the level 6 is a skull cracker.. But not very musical. I don't want something just for burps lol

i have been instructed that you can not use multiple mid bass drivers (or multiple midrange/tweets either) because it is not possible to setup proper staging with this configuration. staging being set via the dsp to push the sound stage past the physical limits of the vehicle. is it true that multiple drivers are next to impossible to setup a sound stage on?

i cant seem to find ANY worth while information on the Rockford 8 and 10" mid bass drivers on their website. no frequency curves, t/s specs, they look like parts express PA speakers to me... does anyone have an opinion on these things? just want to know if i should even consider them I'm shopping for midbass for my doors in a 3 way active setup, I'm considering JL C7 6.5, ZR 8's, hertz 7" mili's or their 10" SPL. (really just in pre planning stages here) my truck is loud, i like my music loud, i want acceptable quality and clarity in music but have no intention of ever going anywhere near iasca...

I was playing "Clearest Blue" by CHVRCHES and it was pounding, in a moment of foolishness, I pumped up the sub out volume on my HU and the sub was putting out some serious bass and then nothing. My fears were confirmed when I pulled the XCON 10 yesterday and saw the broken tinsel lead. I knew I didn't cook the coil as I didn't smell anything, in fact, the coil looked perfect. I do NOT want to do this again. I've had the XCON for over 2 years now and it's in a box designed by SSA. I've fed it with a Rockford Fosgate T-500 bd, then a PPI Black Ice 5000 (1700 watts rms @ 2 ohm (per manufacturer (yes, I know that number is grossly over inflated)), and finally on a Rocf…

I have a '17 Challenger I want to add some bass to as I only have the 6-speaker factory Alpine system with no subs. I'm back and forth with what I want to run as far as sub stage and need some advice. The goal is for good SQ while still getting a little SPL. I have a little over 2 cubes max in the trunk, but I'd rather use less than that. I also want a lightweight setup as I'm looking to have a birch enclosure made for it and would want the smallest setup possible that fits my goals. I wanted to try a ported single 8" but can't seem to find any good examples in trunk setups which makes me think it wouldn't be worth it, and just step up to a 10". I have about 900…

  18. I’m looking at fitting 2 15s in my back seat. Does anyone have any experience with the hdc4 and the ssa zcon. Trying to figure which will want more or less box size. Heading towards the less side for overall fitment purposes. Can’t decide between the 2 subs. Price is close to them just not sure what to go with. I’ve only owned a sundown x15 and 18. So don’t have to much to compare to. Also will be playing hip/hop music as a daily. With a soundqubed 3500 and adding another later down the road.

I'm reconing my XCON. I was going to have The Speaker Exchange do the work, but after they told me $80 an hour for labor and it could take 2 hours I've decided to do it myself. Problem is I didn't order glue from SSA because I wasn't expecting to do the work. Does Lowe's or Home Depot sell a glue that would work? Thanks

  22. Pretty much as the title implies.... I've got a 2004 Yukon XL, and I'm updating the entire system. Just replaced my alternator with a 253amp model from a 3500 series pickup (factory option! bolted right in!), will shortly be wiring up a second 1000cca battery. Dual 1/0 runs to the rear, fused at both ends. Currently only running (1) amp, and old Lightning Audio 1001.d @ 1 ohm, will be swapping that out, most likely to a Skar RP-1501.D. Two Powerbass S10-d (dual coil) subs in a 2.7-ish cu ft box built into the rear quarter panel. Tuning is way too low, probably about 24-25Hz. Factory speakers in the doors and rear pillars, will soon be changing them out - probably doing a …

  23. Am currently looking at subwoofers to upgrade from my lowly Powerbass S-10D's. Have been running a Lightning Audio 1001.d monoblock @ 1 ohm for the last year, and every time I get it cranking, the amp shuts off after 10-15 minutes, blowing fuses. I am running a 250 amp alternator, and a brand new 1000ca/800cca battery, with 1/0 run back to my distribution block, and a 14" 4ga run to the amp, with the big 3 under the hood. Will be adding a second battery, under the hood, as there is a second battery tray. I really don't want to run much more power than what I already have, as I don't want to get into having to add a dual alternator, or putting another battery in the back. …

  24. Hello guys, greetings from Romania I need some opinions with a new box for a sundown audio sa12. I'm currently running the sub in a sealed enclosure (1.3ft³), on audio que 2200d at 4 ohm, until it will loosen up a little bit to handle 1000-1500w at 1 ohm. I whant to add that I own a sedan car, and thinking to put the sub up close to the port. So, any ideas, suggestions? Any response will be greatly appreciated.

  25. I am looking at a pair of used Crossfire Db3 12"s, for my nephews ride. Not a brand I am familiar with, so was hoping someone had experience with them. The gentleman selling them only wants $50 for the pair, so right in the price range I want to spend on the kid. I know they are subs and will make sound, just making sure they are not majorly flawed by design or anything. Thanks in advance.
