here i go with my first post and a (very likely) stupid question. I want to build a box, or augment my current box(2x10") to house a 12" & 10" sub so as to realize the advantages of both. box is separated into two equal, sealed sections. lets assume i can accommodate the volume requirements of the 12 accurately enough. can I just wire them separately on each channel of my amp and let'er rip? or am I missing something?

I am curious about the Fi subwoofers. I have never heard them in person. I was planning on getting the JL W6V2 however I see that a LOT of people own Fi subs on this board. I can see that they are cheaper but are they actually better than JL? Another sub I was looking at was the Orion HCCA 12.4. I am going for SQ mainly however there are times when I want to really rip things apart with that bass. Thanks in advance for the help

Running off 500wattsx2 bridged @ 4ohms rear channels of a crescendo1000c4. All stock electrical system 1999 volkswagen passat (I might get the big 3 upgrade if necessary). Would these subs have trouble reaching their potentional with only 500 watts split between them?

I went with direct leads because the push terminals broke off & it was dangling! So I took both off. This XCon is the first generation, it is just under 5 years old. It was reconed before about 2 years ago, and just started using it. it was a bad recone job lucky I ordered 2 recone kits, Dustcap came lose first day out & it was flapping. spider came completely off later. I wanted the job done right, So I did it myself. I think I did it right. I'm proud to say I am no longer a Recone Virgin.

I'm assuming this is the sound of the XCON bottoming out? I had little power on the sub before and just got a new Crescendo amp (1500.1) and decided to see what the excursion looked liked and noticed it started making a noise that sounded like it was hitting the backplate. Visually I guess I was thinking the XCON was going to move a little more before bottoming out. The thing still moves quite a bit. Just thought I would see what you all thought. I only did this for the second time in the video, and won't be doing it again.

Sucks that Mach5Audio is leaving the forum. Im personally a little bummed that their products wont be so readily available and discussed on these forums. I am in the middle of an install using their speakers and think highly of them so far. Ive already sent an email to the addy from the notice thread but thought Id talk about it here as well. Just wondering if the MLI65s will still be available? Or any of the other products that were listed? Id love to use some in another install and always planned on buying them here.

In my case, my big toe found out that a new 45kg bass box, designed by myself but built by Baz V, is a heavy b@stard. In 11 years of the audio game, I have never let anyone near my box building for my own car,, then I got lazy and moved on. Then Baz V came to my attention and I decided to put my money where my mouth is and let him build me a box,, seriously good move,, several weeks later, one mighty Triple Chamber Reflex Box design later and with the help of Andrew J we have two sexy Stereo Integrity Magnum D2 12inch babes in a lush box that fits like a glove into my car. Could I ever move away from the nine year old Emmy

Just thought I would let folks here know that the MJ-18M will begin shipping in about a week. I am just waiting for packaging. I had mentioned voice coil options and I plan to deliver on this. Very soon there will be a 2 Ohm and 1 Ohm version available. Those who want the 4 Ohm version can purchase them now - you will be placed in front of the order line. Thanks for your patience. Mark

So I just finished up my box today, upon installing the subs in the box I slipped with the drill and punctured the surround. It's a decent sized slit, maybe 3/4 to an inch; it runs diagonal. The subs are Fi SSDs with foam surrounds. I've been searching google for a bit now for the best advesive to use and keep seeing amazing goop and rtv silicone being suggested. Which is better? Would some type of epoxy work? And should I put a piece of fabric or duct tape on the back the slit, with whichever adhesive/ sealer?

Just wondering how the soundqubed HDS315's hold up. I'm thinkin about running 4 of them in my 96 Tahoe. The box I'm planning to use is 48x44x15, port is 13.5h x 13w x 20l for a 32.42 hz tuning at 14.61 sq in per cube of port final volume is 12.01 cubes. Haven't decide what amp or amps I want to use yet, any suggestions under $1000?

I currently have a 2005 single cab Dodge Ram 1500. I recently ordered a Sundown Audio SA-8 D4 v.1. I have a 1k Hifonics Mono Amp i was hoping to push this sub with. Im having issues getting a box design. I built my own and friends boxes but only merely guessing needed airspace and very unfamiliar with tuning. I under stand its got to do with the driver, box volume and port length and size but beyond that im a noob. From reading around I've seen that these subs need about .5-.75 cubs of box at about 30 to 40hz? My first box attempt was around .6cubs but the port was about 1"x8" and only 27" long which im almost positive is incorrect because the sub will not even do any not…

ok i have a pair of these: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...tnumber=294-650 and a pair of these: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...tNumber=264-422 the B&Cs say 8 ohm nominal, but then it says Re: 5.2 ohms. so that means that theyre actually 5.2 ohms each? and the Seleniums say 8 ohm nominal, but it says Re: 5.9 ohms. im gonna wire 1 B&C and 1 selenium in parallel to ch1, and the 2nd B&C and 2nd selenium in parallel to ch2. at first i was thinking it would make a 4 ohm load per channel, but would it really make a 2.76 ohm load (5.2 ohm and 5.9 ohm) ?

Looking for a quality sub right now for my first system and I'm thinking about a single 12 or 15. Listen to rap mostly when I'm driving but i like to mix it up with classic rock and pop/punk about 25% of the time. I've been told 12s in general are more musical, but will a 15 provide adequate response and accuracy, provided the right enclosure? I'm thinking about an Fi Q or SSA Icon or something similar b/c they've both had great reviews on here...total budget for the sytem(including wires, enclure, electrical upgrades if needed) will be in the $1200-1500 range...not looking to spend more than 50% on the substage(amp and sub). Any big differnces in the size of the driv…

Hi forum folk, I'm here tonight to ask about a topic I've never discussed before. Only because I had never seen them before I came to SSA and now that I've seen them once I've seen them a thousand times! The topic of the SSA Evil 6.5(sp?) Is one that I see on this forum with a turn off every "page" and it seems like many of you SSA-ers have gone to some lengths to assure you were among this elite crew of car audio enthusiasts. So what is it about these speakers that is so awesome that you're willing to wait out their build and restock? Granted they are inexpensive mid-range drivers in a sea of likely overpriced mid-range speakers but I want to know what sets them apa…

I came across some Clif Design subs that are built in America. I emailed them to ask who the supplier is and the tech told me to name a few and he'd give me a yay or a nay as they don't openly give out that info. About all I know is Eminence. Dayton? DD builds their own, right? So that's just DD. Do they build for other companies? RF has an american plant IIRC. I wouldn't think they subcontract. Does JBL make some here? ???
