And the fact that 99% of the energy that you put into the coil in a 94.1db 1w/1m speaker is nothing but burned off as heat.. You only hear 1% of what you put into it
  2. I am finally starting my new build on my Dodge Durango. I almost have all the equipment in. Just waiting on the new battery and some wire. The ride: The wheels: Anella Diamond II Suv 22" My vehicle has a third row (I never use it) which I will be removing to create a false floor for battery and wire storage. Third row removed: There is a storage place in the back of the vehicle where my amps can fit perfectly into: Amps: MB Quart DSC 1500.1 MB Quart DSC 480.4 running Diamond D6 components right now until I purchase some Bravox components These amps have always worked well for me. They look nice next to each other because they are in the same case and are the same size. I am doing a single sub install and thought I would get the 2010 Icon. Thanks SSA for the awesome deal. 12" 2010 Icon D2 with aluminum coils: That is it for now I will post more pics as the build goes on.
  3. Dom, thats what M5 is saying, you wont hear words with the super tweeters. Pro Audio mids are made to get loud as shit on vocals and that is what you should be looking at. Then you could add a tweeter or horn to bring up the higher frequencies. Most super tweeters only play in the higher frequencies not voice. They will not play low, just wont so you are looking at crossing them at 3500 - 5000hz so you will need a high efficiency mid that will play pretty high. In order to play that high, they crap out on the midbass. I don't think that's an issue with your install. you have to give up something to get something else. I just went through it myself and i am pretty happy with the end results.
  4. You need to trash that ohio gen and get DC Power alts.
  5. That pretty much says it all. That and the fact that SSA looks better than alot other forums. Everything is always up to date and the people are the greatest, most knowledgable group of guys and gals on the interwebz.
  6. I took some pictures of the Dcon last night. It felt so weird carrying a sub that didn't weight 60+ lbs for a change. It is a sexy subwoofer with excellent build quality from why I can tell by looking at it. I have high hopes for this little beast. Pics up later.
  7. Here is a chart for you Dom. This should help you understand what Sean is explaining.
  8. Crap, poop & shit. Will be loud but don't solve your issues. Doesn't carry crap like he listed above Perhaps your idea of 'look' isn't so good to use as a reference Then why the hell are you looking at bullet tweeters that don't even play in the vocal range where people sing? All of the ones you linked cannot play low enough to help your problem. If you really "only" just want to hear the words you need a pro audio mid not some stupid high frequency shrill bullet. Horns WILL play low enough, bullet tweets won't. Completely terrible use for this application. The Florida idiots that are all using them have no idea what the hell they are doing so stop paying attention to them. This is exactly why we always ask for direction and information in a thread that is specific and NOT subjective. Until now you never even said it was to hear words. Then you get all these wanna be loud thinking they know something about stereo kiddo's reading your thread and pointing out TERRIBLE solutions for what is your actual problem. The vocal range of the human is severely limited and doesn't go at all into super tweeter realm. Sure harmonics and other information are passed to them, but since you care not about staging and imaging those cues aren't at all necessary for your setup. And your first thought, the SEAS would be even worse. They could start to play in the vocal range but nowhere near the levels that you request. Do yourself a favor, either really state your goals or actually do some research on what your problem is. It would greatly help us give you a solution. One thing for sure though, if it truly is words, then everything that has been recommended in this thread outside of horns/CD-1's is completely useless for what you need and even they will need help in the lower vocal range.
  9. Box Building- 2.5cuft tuned to 28-29hz Box finished and installed- sub firing forward port to the passenger side. Amps installed and testing. I am giving the sub roughly 1300wrms.
  10. The subs won't be "power hungry", the amplifier is going to give them the power you tell it to, have you spoken to Ohio Gen? Most HO alternators charge in the upper 14v range, might be having a problem with your vehicles computer telling it to charge at a lower voltage than it should.
  11. Lol yep got dual relays mounted under the inverter too... gotta keep those accessible until I finish the rest of the system... then I can flush the inverter in there and make it look pretty... don't worry, I will post a full build log when its done. Waiting for my N215 to arrive (Scott told me they ship out the 22nd), and I gotta finish by Dec. 2nd for an installation demo. Here's a sneak peak, haven't attached the baffle, tho I glassed it up good yesterday. Here's where the N2 is gonna sit: And yes that triangular brace doubles as a mount for a triangular plexi window fiberglass corner bracing is a must also
  12. That's how I would do it Did I mention the baffle is 1.5"?
  13. I fully recommend 45's in all the corners, at a bare minimum these two corners, both being 5" long. You can go longer if you want, but no more than 5" in the port or you mis-tune it
  14. ^^ he is 100% correct I should have said that actually lol sometimes I assume ppl know... anyways I promised to fix your design dilemma, so here goes
  15. Warden is a crazy sub, but keep in mind the Ti pro has a larger coil and more BL product, so two of them are pretty stiff competition against anything, even if its neo. You'll want to replace them with two of something else (not one) if you want to even try and maintain that kind of power handling. The 4HP handles more power than 3" coils so you'll need more sensitivity to make up for that, or simply more motors of something else. If you're serious about a good upgrade from Two Ti pros and you want more SPL, honestly two 18" TC Pro 5100 is a solid choice. It actually gets louder than the 15" Ti pro by about ~4dB off the same power and has a lot better sound quality, higher xmax, lower inductance, much less and AC modulation. It won't handle as much power, but it does have a 4" vc and more sensitivity, but it's also extremely durable so you will get an increase in SPL. They should be OK with a 2k-3k amp on each woofer.

  17. Remember that in a car you will never have that kind of respone, because of the car acoustics. Sometimes you don't want a 'flat' frequency response.
  18. Does it not turn off on the menu, or doers it show it as off, but it's not actually turning it off? I would venture to say you have it hooked up to the wrong RCAs if this is the case.
  19. Metal/Silk whatever have no pertinence in getting loud. Definitely won't be as harsh or nasty as a SuperSHittyTweeter though Harsh is not a function of material but poor design. Plenty of metal tweeters that sound stellar. Yes. Really by far your ONLY solution. If you are deaf and don't care about music at all bullet tweets will work but are FAR from ideal.
