  1. The idea that a capacitor can help anything at all is that it holds a fair amount of current that can be utilized faster than a battery can. However, there's some time constants involved in the amount of current that the cap charges and discharges in any given scenario. The idea is that in a sudden demand for current draw the cap can help "stiffen" the voltage in the circuit and prevent the voltage from dropping, and it can, but only to a point. As far as what you're asking for you particular application it will not help at all, even by the theory that involved the use of caps in the first place. For burping scenarios you're playing a tone for a few seconds, right? There's no dynamics, no fluctuations, just constant demand for whatever the time period is and anything the cap could do to help would have been used up in the first few milliseconds and could/would actually become a drain on the rest of the electrical system as it would continue to attempt to charge back up. This is a VERY basic description of why it does nothing to help, especially in high current demand situations they simply don't work. Now, if a persons headlights are dimming and flashing like a light show at a concert one can put a cap on the headlights and get stability in the voltage for them, as has been suggested before, BUT it does nothing to solve their real problem. It's just a real world example of them working, but that is also not a high current circuit. As M5 said, the only benefit is to the companies that make them. Marketing hype and unknowing users who swear they have helped happening for years has people believing there's any real benefit.
  2. Someone on another forum was saying that he was going to base his decision on what numbers my brother's N2 ends up doing when he gets the electrical to turn his amp up from this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8j2LCB3CRQc The sub ends up being a pretty small factor, in terms of putting up a number on the TL, when compared to the many variables that go into a build.
  3. I don't know why people freak out and buy a shit load of batteries before they even see if there is a problem.
  4. Honestly that is going to depend on your goals and considering your gonna be competing your gonna wait more power than a daily system would. I think that would be fine for daily but competing I dont think so but that is all install dependent and what your trying to achieve. The best way to tell is to install it and see if you need more power when your going all in or not.
  5. Here is the back side of the fake faceplate after the first layer of bondo and hairs. I havee been waiting two weeks now for a wiring harness. I really wish there was an audio shop in my area for little parts like this.
  6. nothing wrong with the sub...that happens on refresh rate of the camera, and the microphone is EASILY over loaded. (I can overload the mic on my phone because my voice is too deep...i have busted friends ear pieces in the past) ..whoever buys something basing their decision of a video on youtube is..questionable anyhow.

Yeah and automatics are illegal yet it's legal to buy modifications to turn your gun into one. You are woefully misinformed. Fully automatic weapons are perfectly legal in most states provided you go through the proper process. It involves filling out a lot of paperwork, getting fingerprinted, undergoing an extensive background check and paying a $200 transfer fee. It has been this way since 1934. The law was modified in 1986 making it illegal to transfer an automatic firearm manufactured after '86. Conversion of a semi-automatic into an automatic is a federal felony. Possessing parts to perform such a conversion is considered constructive possession of an automatic weapon and carries the same felony penalties. It is a federal felony to sell a gun to a felon, an addict, a person ever declared mentally incompetent, convicted of committing domestic violence, illegal aliens or anyone who has been dishonorably discharged from the military. Allowing any of those people to possess a gun is also illegal. Any of those people are also committing a felony by possessing a gun. More laws make no sense. Criminals don't care about laws. You can take about 99% of what you hear in the mass media about guns and gun laws and throw it out the window because it is either simply misinformed or intentionally distorted to create a sentiment against guns. In reality a wider availability of guns and more people exercising their right to carry a gun could have cut this asshole off short. It only would have taken one person taking responsibility for his own safety rather than relying on others to provide that protection. Wouldn't have to worry about a trial or the outcome or how much it's going to cost us to try this douche. Only have to worry about burying the SOB.
  8. I also started my hidden H/U install. It is going well and will be bad ass! My goal with this is to have it hidden and not to dramatically alter the interior. So far so good. I have tons of work to do on this yet. I will be happy when it is installed
  9. I was able to work on the install yesterday and today My time is very limited so I am happy to of had these two days to get chit done! I finally got the 1/0 runs into the trunk. I was freak'n determined not to run them in the cabin. I ended up going from the starting battery back down the firewall into the frame just behind the front wheel and out of the frame just in front of the rear tire and into the trunk. It was a real PITA to say the least. My goal for the 1/0 runs: 1. not have any wire under the lowest nearby point of the car 2. not have the wire rubbing against any moving parts like the suspension 3. have the wire 100% secured I turned out very well but like I said it was a PITA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only aspect of this that I do not like is that the two 1/0 runs are very near the front sway bar. The sway bar twists slightly during suspension travel. Both wires are about 1/8"-3/8" from the sway bar. I will be checking the install daily for a week or so and then every 3000 miles when I do routine maintenance. This picture shows the 1/0 runs to the trunk from under the hood. I do not have the +1/0 run to the trunk connected at the starting battery. I need to mock up a battery box for the trunk and I am awaiting 250A fuses. Unfortunately I did not compose this picture well enough to show the detail I wanted. This picture shows the 1/0 runs entering the frame rail from just behind the front wheel. 1/0 runs coming out of the frame rail just in front of the rear wheel. Here you can see the wires secured to the frame/body. 1/0 runs entering the trunk. I will also have a -1/0 run coming from the rear battery and bolted to the frame rail in this location. 1/0 runs in the trunk I crimped a terminal to the +1/0 to have something to pull it through the frame rail with. The terminal will be cut off when I secure it to a fuse holder.

You need some mechanism of measuring distortion.
  11. We appreciate that Stephan, repeat/referral business is what made us, and what we hope to grow.. Trust me, shit like this pisses me off royally, and it HURTS MY POCKETBOOK!! Anyone think I like that?? No You are one of about 20 people that are EXACTLY why I posted: "The little things NONE of you see, is me sitting on my phone all day calling vendors making sure they are getting their shit done, so you all can get your orders. Case in point, our soon to be former machine shop got a $10k PO the ~20th of Dec, I was told point blank "we will order material in the AM, you'll have parts next week" (last week of Dec) I got back on the 4th, had no parts finished and they wouldn't answer the phone.. So, I drive an hour and a half away to find, drumroll, no F'ing parts.. So I ask (yell at) them, just exactly WTF is going on here?? Oh, I forgot to order material... Excuse me?? WTF do you mean you forgot?? I have a $10k PO on your desk, and your holding up a $40k order, plus making about 20 other customers wait, who were PROMISED, BY ME, because YOU promised ME, they would be done.. WTF??? 4 hours wasted, and I still got no F'ing parts." Because you dont know all the details.. And in this WHOLE damn thread it's been implied that A)We dont care if/when it gets done (which is total BS) B)Routinely been implied that we (I) avoid talking the OP. When I'm in R&D mode like I am now, the only person who I talk to during the day is my wife if she needs me. I dont even talk to Kyle Dave or Stan most days if I'm busy.. I'm EXTREMELY hard to get ahold of sometimes, that's what we have Dave, Kyle, and Stan for. At first, (iirc) this wasn't exactly a priority to get done by the OP because of his build status, and when it was a priority and we started working on it, our lazy ass fabricators/machinists couldn't get shit done, we had to change direction, I said F it, dropped a huge amount of money in the meantime, and the OP's stuff is almost done... I'm tired of explaining all of this, over and over and over again and this is the LAST time I say a word in here explaining things, (other than updating) But I swear the next time I see anyone adding their .02 and adding fuel to the fire because they think they have something to input here I will either lock the thread, or I will make it dissappear...
