  1. What the fuck is this, high school? Seriously. You all need to get some lives. Trolls come over here and ruffle some feathers and then the "members" turn around and do the same damn thing. That just makes everything better doesn't it. Are there any intelligent young people left anymore? It doesn't matter where you are from, how big your score is, how big your muscles are or how many bitches you fucked. . . . Get over it. And the next dumb ass who wants to start drama, whether funny or not, will be shown the door. If you people want to act like children go play in the fucking playground.
  2. It's taken WAY too long to get this done. Bought the sub for her Christmas of '09, bought the box from Argent Audio this Christmas and was just finally able to get it painted and installed this weekend. Don't worry, for all you speaker porn addicts, she took pictures and a couple of vidoes, I'll post them up as soon as she's got them sent to me. The box is 2.25cuft NET tuned to 31Hz, the topic for the box quote and the posted design is HERE. I have the build log for her Durango posted HERE. It's a fairly straightforward build with no real bells or whistles. The original sub that was installed was a very crappy Pyle Red Label 12" Square sub that she had in her previous vehicle from an ex-boyfriend. When the build was done in her truck the sub simply sounded like ass, so I decided she needed an upgrade and that led us to this road with the DCON. The amp she's running is a Hifonics ZXi8010. Which is a 5 channel amp that delivers 4x55wrms and 200x1 into 4ohms and 300x1 into 2 ohms. The sub is a D4 wired in parallel for a 2ohm load. So, on to the review. The first song we played was Passengers by Tool. The bass guitar and drums were tight and accurate and were easily discernible, not muddled together at all. The other thing that caught our attention was the impact and energy. Quite impressive for a single 12 on ~300wrms of power. This is a song she knows very well and like alot and she was shocked at the difference between the DCON and her old sub. The next song we played was Money for Nothing by Dire Straights. The drum fundamentals in the beginning were fast and tight as they're intended to be, the sub had no problem keeping up with the midbasses. Every beat was tight, on time and effortless. The entire song was a blast to listen to. At this point we were already really enjoying the performance of the DCON. The next song was Angel by Sarah Mclaughlan (spelling?). I like using this song in listening for two reasons. First off her voice in the song can really show problems in response on a set of components, amp settings and the like. The other reason is the piano can reveal response problems on the low end as well. To our ears the lower octaves were spot on with the DCON, the shift and decay of each note was great and the entire song was seriously good to listen to. The next song was One by Metallica. Another song to test the bass guitar and drums on the sub. Again the DCON didn't disappoint with it's performance. The bass drum at the beginning of the track was tight and strong. You could feel your hair move a little with every beat and felt it in your chest. At the crescendo of the song the drums are super fast and the DCON was on top of them the entire time. The only problem I noticed here was a tad bit of distortion which between the recording itself and the amp being pushed to it's limits I couldn't fault the sub for it. Especially since two clicks of the volume down had it gone with no real difference in output. I found throughout the listening we did that I either ran up against the limits of the amp with the sub, or in most cases with the highs. Satisfied the sub was performing well in it's enclosure and that the settings on the amp were as good as they were gonna get we moved on to having a little fun with it. I was recently given a link to download a list of MP3's by Decaf or someone/something like that and been having a good time playing with it. Gucci Mane, Lil Wayne and a host of other rap artists and their songs that I believe have a little boost in the lower octaves, maybe not but it's GREAT for showing off either way. The DCON moved right on from a tight, accurate and detailed sub to a panel vibrating, rear view mirror skewing, sub bass monster. I was absolutely floored by the shear output it could generate on the modest power it was being fed. Anyone who's worried about what they can get out of single sub rated at 300wrms has absolutely NOTHING to be worried about. No matter your musical preference I believe the DCON can and will perform to expectations and possibly beyond. We spent a couple of hours listening to just about everything and weren't disappointed with a single thing we played beyond the limitations we found in the output of the amp. It seemed that on occasion, a few songs just couldn't get going as good as they should have either in the bass region or on the highs, however that could easily just have been me considering I'm used to having much more power on tap in the van than she has available. At $125 the 12" DCON is an absolute steal IMO. It is extremely versatile and can make most people VERY happy in both how good it sounds as well as how loud it can get. It will definitely be at the top of my list for recommendations on smaller, lower powered systems.
  3. Yeah that's priced by foot. And you can make a wire snake out of a straightened out coat hanger or something. It's just something that's easier to feed through and under things than the wire. Then tape the wire to the end of it and pull the wire through.
  4. Hook up the dmm to what your measuring. Write down voltage with car off. Write down voltage with car off and stereo at full tilt. write down voltage with car idling. Write down voltage with car idling and stereo at full tilt. Compare voltage differences.
  5. Aw shit. You done started another one of these.... Pick whichever one you want. Pick one cuz one's cheaper, or cuz one's prettier, it doesn't matter. Pick whatever you like because the do the exact same thing. People will come in here and say "well Sundown's underrated and will actually do more" and that's true (to a certain extent. Don't get the SAZ-1500d and expect 2000 watts. It's a 1500 watt amp, it'll do a little extra. You will never notice the extra, or be be able to measure it.) but Audioque is "underrated" as well but like I said, don't get a AQ1200d and expect 1500 watts. It's not a 1500 watt amp. Sundown is more expensive. People will come in here and say it's because "you can pick up the phone and talk to the owner" or "awesome customer service costs money" but those aren't the real reason. Sundown is a dealer brand. They sell to dealers who sell to you. That equals more markup. Audioque has no dealers, they sell factory direct. That equals NO markup so they can sell for waaaaayyy cheaper. With Sundown, you have to be careful and buy from Authorized Dealers or you won't get a warranty. Audioque can only be bought straight from the source, so that's not a problem. People will come in and say Sundown is built better, but...really? As long as you take care of either one it will pretty much last as long as you need it to so don't worry about that. So if they do the same thing, both are underrated, and both last why buy Sundown? You pay for the dealer's rent, the extra engineering, and the super reliable name. (not that Audioque ISN'T reliable) That's all. If you want to pay extra for Sundown, do it. If you don't buy Audioque. Period. EDIT: What I'm really trying to say is...there's no Magic "Sundown sauce" that makes Sundown products better than any other. They're good. But Audioque is too lol. (And if it seems like I'm bashing Sundown, my SA-12's get lower than gas in a Trans-Am so yeah...lol)
  6. EBP = Fs/Qes EBP less than or equal to 50 means the driver is best suited for sealed enclosures EBP between 50 and 90 means the driver can be used in either ported or sealed, but the closer to the extremes you are the better the driver will likely perform in that given enclosure type (i.e. EBP of 60, the driver is a little more suited to sealed but could possibly be used ported) EBP equal to or greater than 90 means the driver is best suited to ported enclosures Enclosure size requirements is hard to pin-point without knowing what enclosure type you are looking for. Are you looking for sealed or ported? Also, there isn't a single "requirement" or suggestion. There's an almost infinite number of alignments, some have special names others do not. You can use T/S parameters to predict performance in a given enclosure, the enclosure size necessary to achieve a certain alignment, etc. But you can't look at them and say "This sub needs 1cuft", as that 1cuft enclosure will simply result in one specific alignment out of many possible options. Going larger or smaller may be beneficial depending on the needs and goals. I was working on a write up of T/S parameters and how to use them. I've been slacking and only have about 5% of it done......I guess maybe I should get back to working on that.....
  7. I don't have any lol.....Next time I will take a vid or something
  8. ^^^^ you seriously don't believe me ? lol
  9. It was on the dash I didn't try it on the kick
  10. Wow, nice build. However, you should have predrilled holes on a couple of pieces of wood. They split and will cause you some problems with SQ. Just ask, I'm sure somebody here will tell you that exact same thing. Keep up the work. Hope to see videos soon as well as seeing/hearing it in reality (since I hate theories)
  11. Finally found a TL at a show today! Got to run a sweep finally as well. I ended up doing a 154.9 at 39z in the scorching sun after demoing my car all day! I am happy with those results with 4k on my subs ..... Skar Audio is no joke
  12. Just wanted to add that this car looks and sounds great, no thanks to the fail "tech team" over here. They just talk alot of crap about builders math and use programs to dictate responses. They gave bad advice to the OP and when the OP fought back him and his builder were attacked. This is not a SQ setup its ""SQL"". O yeah and that little dirty trick of locking the thread after M5 spouted more bullshit was a good move. Bottom line there so called experience is lacking 154 on the dash door open?? Very nice, sounds awesome too.
