ZCON Prototype
1 pointI am pretty upfront about everything, as with most every aspect of my life, if there is someone else substantially better at or with superior knowledge and expertise, I will go to them and learn from them. There is a good deal of work on both sides of the equation, and numerous meetings (both in person and over the phone) when working together on a new model. Mark and I don't pretend to be all knowing in the world of driver design, but we know our drivers.1 point

1 pointSSA FTW! I have NEVER dealt with a better company as far as customer service goes. That in itself would make me consider paying a little extra. SSA's subwoofers fill the gap between high SPL woofers and SQ woofers. I think the numbers that any of their woofers put up are quite impressive for the way they sound. I realize that there are other subwoofers that sound good and get loud, but I think Mark and Aaron put a lot of time testing both SPL and SQ of each of their woofers to make sure that they pass their own standards. This says a lot to me about how they run their company and it makes me want to keep coming back. They are very involved with their products, even though they may not design them. I respect your opinion edub, but I can't seem to wrap my head around why you would come on to the company's forum and subsection just to bash a new woofer you have no experience with. I hope you find what you are looking for somewhere else. Looking forward to the release of the Zcon's, hope they don't suck me in lol.1 point

ZCON Prototype
1 pointSomeone mentioned the fact of different styles of running a brand. Much of how we do things is based largely on the size of our brand. We are not moving thousands or even hundreds of sub woofers, not even close. We are a boutique brand, in that our drivers are built to order here in the USA. In product development, we are pretty slow, and spend more time with the design/prototypes before releasing them then most. This is because we built for long life cycles of our products. The Icon has been holding strong for a long time with only subtle changes and updates since 2007. It is now going through its first major design change.1 point

1 pointI rather let two guys with well over 10 years of designing and building speakers/subs, than a company who release info every week about updating their design but doesn't actually touch the sub. SSA's buildhouse can actually design a speaKer, go out to the machine shop and build a prototype. Then can test it fairly quickly and see what needs to be changed. With other companies, they design the speaker on a computer, then has to wait a few months to receive a proto. So they end up talking instead of testing. Your arguments are pointless, and your just trying to find any reason to talk shit.1 point

Sound Deadening on a Budget [Off Topic]
Did you read ANY of the above posts? That's a dumb question, you know he can't read. Well at least from what I've seen.1 point

It's been since January..... NOTHING
Take your money back ,... if you can ! Forums are made for that : talks and informations. You just don't have to always say good thing about everyone here ! If there is a problem with a company, people should know what's going on. It's not good for this company , but it's the truth guys. If this guy is your friend, tell him to do something. You can't keep moneyy from somebody for months and then, nothing comes ! It's easy on the internet, but if he had a real store he would have met some serious problems !!! Don't try to tell the OP he's wrong. Be serious for a minute. Imagine what would you do in that case ! Sorry, but when it comes to money, I don't joke !1 point

Posting, day after day after day then waiting a couple days then posting day after day after day is acting like an infant, it's funny how you wait 8 MONTHS to decide to build your own... It's stupid fucks like you that go out of their way to ruin a companies reputation. Good luck douche bag1 point

I know Troy is a good guy, and I couldn't imagine him just holding money for no reason. Hopefully something will happen soon. It seems all alternator/bracket companies are having little problems like this. Seems it just the nature of the buisness. I'm not going to comment on this situation, or any other because I don't know the whole story, or really care. Just hope everything can get worked out.1 point

THE BIG 3
1 pointwould it not also make sense that if you are running 1/0 ga wire to the amp for power and a 1/0 wire for the ground from amp, to size your ground wire from the battery to chassis or frame the same or bigger than the largest power wire in the system? example battery to amp, 1/0 ga amp to ground, 1/0 ga battery to ground point either chassis or frame 1/0 electricity takes the path of least resistance so doubleing wires to the alt makes no sense. you can't double wire it, that would be like twisting the ends of 16 ga speaker wire togehter and calling it 8 ga. in most newer cars the main lead from the alt does not lead straight to the battery, it leads to a fusible link or something else that everything is tied to. that why alot of the newer cars don't just have terminals to the battery they have big boxy looking things. i have done the big 3 and sometimes alot more on all my vehicles regardless if they had a system or not, its good practice and can result in a alt's life being extended. in no way will doing the big three up the amperage of a alt. it just guarentees it a lil bit easier path to choose and will give that tired old autozone special 7 days of life instead of 6.1 point

going active again!!! new questions
0 pointsSorry onebadmonte ... but the king of SSA has spoken ... Try to fight him and recommend something else that will help the op will only damage your reputation points ... Thats why I quit ... Just my suggestion bro ... Coming from the guy who is full of subjective nonsense that is funny. Perhaps if you think you've learned something in the lanes you should share it instead of some emotional garbage. You've never done it yet, so I don't expect it. Of course that might require actually reading what the OP typed and asking him some questions to narrow things down. One thing is for sure and that is what you have WON'T work for him, not even close. And Jon, be glad to. Budget? Time/effort, etc?0 points

-1 pointsDefinitely can throw out some recommendations. Some pictures of your kicks, description of how you did the aiming, what went into your decision on mounting locations, processor capability you have, end goals (assume SQ from our previous discussions), what you've done for deadening so far, and so on would really help. Obviously having no rears is step 1.-1 points

Cablguy184's 97 Chevy Silverado
-1 pointsImpious, you meant size of your pinna. Not height. Either way spot on. Running passives (if they are the stock ones) with drivers separated that far can be a nightmare, in particular with such a high crossover point. I'd look for a more robust tweeter that you can cross lower and it will improve your staging a TON. This will require a leap to active which will also give you a large improvement and be a much better use of that extra amp that you are adding instead of the rears. I'd also try to tame some of the reflections as the Silvy dashes are terrible for making anything coherent.-1 points
-
Cablguy184's 97 Chevy Silverado
-1 pointsI understand when and how rears can be effective...but you don't have the processing for that. Spending the money improving your fronts will yield you way better results and scores. I am also surprised that both tweeters out of phase is the best setup. I'd play with that some more. Try ALL combinations of phase between the fronts. *possible you are hiding that you do as I am unfamiliar with the detailed specs on the LP stuff, but it doesn't seem so from your description-1 points

Cablguy184's 97 Chevy Silverado
-1 pointsIf you want to go further in competition you need to open your mind. Currently your "secrets" aren't enough once there is real competition. Not my worry if you don't want to do better, but your golden attitude is amusing.-1 points
-
Cablguy184's 97 Chevy Silverado
-1 pointsWhat if I answered YES to everyone of your questions, would that make my credentials better so you'd actually offer help instead of gibberish. Funny thing is, I can and AM trying to help you improve your score and believe me if you listen and interact positively it will. Unlike yourself I'll be glad to let my knowledge and answers speak for myself and not post my "history". Secrets? What secrets?? Cable's system is just what it appears to be, and nothing more. It's a K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) system. No 30 drivers, no 10 amps, no high dollar head units, no 128 band mono eq's, no super computer required to run all the processing. It is so simplistic, that it blows you away that the sound of that system, comes from THAT system, and it scares the hell out of systems that 10x as much. I saw, heard and discussed the previous systems in his truck and will surely do the same in any updates. I'm not afraid the give critical analysis of his system and expect the same from him about mine. I think his truck sounds better than mine due to the awesome staging, he thinks mine sounds better tonaly, and we both are waiting to hear SQ_MGB's. Golden attitude, please get over yourself. He's enjoying his system and competing with it. You've offered him help several times, yet he's not asked for it. I guess here come my ban! Secrets was a joke, he didn't want to share them. If you guys would hop off your equipment touting horse you'd see what is happening. Funny you claim no high dollar head units but run Linear Power. Stop being equipment rubes and instead realize it is the INSTALL that matters. Lol, no one is going to ban anyone but we will laugh.-1 points
-
Cablguy184's 97 Chevy Silverado
-1 pointsActually you didn't even answer my first question, but perhaps you don't know the answer...just like you didn't know what song you tuned your enclosure for. Equipment isn't that important. By no means am I saying arbitrary equipment is necessary, but no need to split hairs and spending extra regularly doesn't buy you anything. A great install of mediocre equipment will always beat a mediocre install of great equipment. ALWAYS. Oh, I understand exactly what they could be used for, but am also sure that isn't why you are using them. Of course you could clarify this in less than a sentence, that is assuming you know. Another way to do this if you aren't sure because someone else is doing your install is to describe what processing you will be using on your rears. You aren't part of that we. You can easily prove things, but again instead of 'tooting your horn' citing what you think you've done, just answer the question and it will be obvious whether you are actually helpful or just posing. I completely disagree, I could give a crap what anyone else has. I am a music lover and want to have the best sounding system for me. Rarely am I even interested in demoing it for anyone as I don't care what they think. So far your suggestions have been to copy you or use what gear you have and regularly for applications that are completely different than yours. So either you really don't get it or you give terrible advice. Not expensive and also not special. Worrying about the acoustic signature of your amplifiers is the least of your worries, you have many other things that make a much bigger difference. I hope BCA does shock the world, but considering there is no new technology in the drivers I really don't expect to be wowed. I am sure that there are many comparable and better drivers available, although I'd love to be proven wrong. If they are so shocking, perhaps you could explain ANY technical advantage they will have over all the other drivers currently available. Are you thick? You remember the other thread where you admitted you lied about those frequencies even being in ANYTHING you listen to?-1 points
-
Cablguy184's 97 Chevy Silverado
-1 pointsThen you can solve the whole issue right now and answer the question. Either you are lying or it exists. If you don't answer EVERYONE here will again know that you didn't admit it so I'd be quiet but that you were lying, if you truly know then just answer the question. Very simple. If you truly compete and really need 25Hz and you choose the album (which you did) then you can easily state not only what instrument, but what point in what song it occurs otherwise you obviously did not design your system for that. It is up to you to FINALLY actually show you know something or admit again you are lying. There are only two choices. Pick.-1 points

Cablguy184's 97 Chevy Silverado

Cablguy184's 97 Chevy Silverado
-1 pointsYou put waaayyyy too much emphasis on competition. I read a joke (I think it was a joke?) once about two world renowned poets in heaven arguing about which of them was the best poet who had ever lived. God intervened by explaining that neither of them was the best poet that had ever lived....the best poet that ever lived was a man no one had ever heard of, who kept every poem he had ever written hid in a chest at the foot of his bed. The moral of the story relates here.....-1 points

Cablguy184's 97 Chevy Silverado
-1 pointsDefinitely keep it in your signature and definitely announce it when you win. Everyone will be happy for you. Just don't use it as a reason for what your answer is in a thread. Answer technically and you don't need to rationalize anything with competition.-1 points
-
Cablguy184's 97 Chevy Silverado
-1 pointsNo worries, just wanted to make sure you gave your mids room to breath. Most people don't when they do kicks which regularly can defeat all the positives you could possible have by running your drivers there. Now we just need to convert you to running active.-1 points
-
Cablguy184's 97 Chevy Silverado
-1 pointsIMO an active crossover NEEDS selectable slopes, is better with phase control (easier than doing it manually), digital selectability of the cross point, and of course goodies like eq and t/a don't hurt either but could surely be independent.-1 points

-1 pointsSeriously can't believe how small those crossovers are, obviously a bunch of cheap ass components in them. If you switch and have to use Blues I'd highly suggest at least running them active. I wouldn't run rear fill in the Silvy either. Doesn't help and does a whole lot of bad.-1 points

It's been since January..... NOTHING
-1 pointsOk as I waited the longest i will speak on this first off I was issued my refund almost instantly when I asked for it. Troy has maintained excellent communication and offered me a refund sevral times thru out the 7-8 months that he had my money and I waited. The issue was I was continually told 2 week 2 more weeks 2 more weeks after this became the standard answer that you received you begin to lose faith and trust. I told Troy I would still do business with him in the future but he will have to show me a product before I will send him money it's not a personal issue. TeamRamRod I'm not sure why you feel you need to speak on a issue that you know nothing about. How about you buy something from me that only I sell and I tell you I will have it at your door in two weeks then 7-8 months later I still tell you it will be 2 more weeks I hope you can comprehend that let down. Please go post in another thread and stay out of this one. BanginGmc fuck off as you have no reason to be in here no one is bitching like infants only you swinging from another vendors nuts if you don't like the post in this thread stay out of it. As far as building my own bracket I did 4 hours later I had the plans and on my next day off I will cut the bracket I just wanted Troy's bracket because it is a nice looking well built bracket .-1 points

It's been since January..... NOTHING
-1 pointsI asked for my money back and he didn't give it to me. He gave me an excuse. He told me 2 more weeks but said it openly in this thread. I thought well, if he's going to make the statement in public, maybe THIS time he'll keep his word. He didn't. I don't have my bracket that I paid for or my refund that I asked for. You ride this guy's nuts all you want, but it's been since january. He has made promise after promise and thus far he has broken them all. He may be a great guy, but he's had my money for 5 months and I've got nothing but emails at the start in return. That's not what I paid for. Don't come in here acting like we shouldn't speak out. He stopped replying to my emails. I don't email him all the time. He tells me 2 weeks. I wait a month and a half and then email. Wait 2 weeks and still no reply. That happens a couple of times and I start this thread hoping that public attention will get something done. It doesn't. All it does is get a couple nut huggers in here to get his back. Well guys you just look foolish. If he doesn't come up with the brackets he doesn't deserve your nut huggery. I wasn't even being nasty about this. I was trying to be nice. You guys aren't helping his cause. You're just going to make all of us who have paid and been told we would have our brackets MONTHS AGO even madder and more vocal and bring more attention to this, which I'm sure your pal doesn't want. I'd say if you want to help him, you just quit being keyboard toughguys. Realize your homeboy needs to take SOME sort of action and just stfu.-1 points

Im not trying to ruin a companies rep if you read my above post you will see that i said nothing negative about troy and said i would use him agian. i waited 8 months becouse i wanted troys bracket its well made and even his shitty proto type will probaly look better then the one i will cut. as long as someone has my money after there has been reasonable time and i have no product i have the right to post 200 times a day untill it is resolved. Stupid fucks like you are going to piss evreyone off and nothing is going to get settled so please continue to make your self look like a idiot and post in a thead that you dont be long in.-1 points
