  2. Better yet.... I punched this into WinISD real quick just to show everyone. These are drivers that are already in the program I used just for reference. Same manufacturer, same series both in whatever WinISD considers as optimal enclosures. They're rated at 250wrms and as you can see in the first example the 18 is considerably louder than the 10 on a 250watt signal. Now look at the power it took to get the 10 to the same theoretical output as the 18.... 1500 WATTS!!!! The driver will never take that much power, no matter the fancy enclosure or work that was done and is why using more power to get louder is simply the wrong way to do so.
  3. i wanted harder hitting Then you should have gone with more or larger subs. There's no replacement for displacement when it comes to getting louder. As Denim and Stefanhinote had said, it's not the best way to go about it because it's not an efficient way to do so. You can use a program like WinISD to give you an idea about how much more power it takes to raise SPL levels. It's only a calculation, but it can show you what we're trying to say. Doing so you can see that in order to significantly raise the SPL level of a driver by power alone it will have to go well beyond it's thermal or mechanical ability to handle it. That shows in a glance that it's simply not the way to go. Besides that, "harder hitting" is a horrible way to describe what you're trying to achieve. If you want it louder and "harder hitting" you'll either have to add more 10's or get larger subs.
  4. If you dont listen to a lot of old school music with horrible bass lines then its not needed. I have an Epic-160 and barely use it unless im jamming my old school tunes.

This is about as shady as it can get. + they sell skar and sundown? and pretty much every other thing from 1800woofers and then on SMD it seems like if he has acess to MalibuOn22's account over there. I doesnt matter to me how many businesses Kevin is dealing with or owns. As long as my business dealings with him are honest then I will continue to buy from him. I also know that nobody is perfect, including myself , a couple hiccups here and there will happen. As far as I know Skar is a subsidiary of Sundown. Obsidian is too. From a business perspective, his deallings with forum members on SMD are meaningless to me. Skar has no ownership attachments to sundown and is owned by Kevin, and has nothing to do with Jacob as far as company goes. Jacob plays more of a consultant role in the SKAR business. Just to clear things up for you guys....
  7. I agree with the Sundown SA-15. The DCON might also be an option.
  8. I completely agree with everything that was previously stated, but if you have the money for the 2000 I say get it. As long as you're smart having headroom is awesome. We all know how often were changing things around. If you are smart with the gain you'll be fine, but if you don't know what you're doing stay closer to the 600 per.
  9. whats up yall i just finished the box today for my custom forevrbumpn kevlar 12". box is 2.49 cubes after displacements and tuned to 33.2hz on paper. pics you say?? and heres some of the sub...
  10. I want it so hard!!!! Using more power for more output is the least efficient way to go about it.
  11. Stupid fucking lazy ass parents.
  12. more vids to come
  13. Noone is going to know until YOU do it. If one guy says he's running 2000 watts to his sa-10's and they are working just fine, well good for that guy, it does not mean you can AT ALL. Every application is different and will not work the same. As most people say on this forum, if you have to ask how much a woofer could possibly take, then you probably shouldn't do it or stick to the rms rating which is what I would do. You also have other things to think about. Do you have a stable and sound electrical system to support that 2000 watts? For example, this guy could be running 2000 watts to his sa-10s but he has (for example only) a DC Power 270xp, 1 d3100 up front and 2 D3400's in the back and it will bump all day and not get warm once. While the other guy running the same amp and subs is clipping the hell out of them and plays the subs for 30 minutes before it thermally fails due to the excessive heat from clipping the woofer because he spent no money on the much needed electrical upgrades. That's why I stress that every application is different, and that noone will know until you actually do it. This was very long winded but I hope it helped.
  14. the wife only threatened that cause its DC sell the DC get some SSA and she will prob give you a rub down
  15. I gotta tell you... sealed is giving me more shakes and rattles everyday... I tried doing sub up and man was it louder and stronger but holy hell I need to have everything screwed down on the rear deck and roof liner in the back is coming off now... lol
  16. And to add...do some people take the forum maybe a little too seriously? Possibly...but most guys on here seem like they genuinely want to help others out. The fact that someone can come on here and spout off and then say "yo chill the fuck out delete the account for all i care" shows how little they care about what most of us have a lot of love for, maybe even an obsession!
  17. weight, Wat..? aduktz dont tawk wike dis? fuk yall, go smoke a bowl! hardy har har!

calculate your minimum port area with this you didnt post all the dimensions of the port, how do you know its tuned to 31 hz?
  20. you have time to try and get advise from us but then you dont have 1 second to add a period or comma to make your statement worth answering? I think you should just do a little searching around about your topic, although you will most likely get the same answer on every forum....
  21. If you have no time to try to make a decent post, then I have no time to give you input. then dont give an input bro lol idk why u seem to have to be one of those dickheads on a fourm im asking for peoples opinions if u dont like it u dont have to post no offense Read rule number 5, thanks since you agreed to them when you sign up.

Just wondering.. why would you want to go from skar to hifonics? Im sure it might be a tad bit louder but with horrible SQ and probably wouldnt last a third the time as a skar. If anything id check out the dcons which are around the same rms as them hifi's and will sound and perform worlds better.
  26. 1. He's an idiot 2. Possible, but not trivial
  27. I think the real question is, how much does it accelerate the bass? Rofl
  28. I have 2 sa10's in 2.5 cu ft net @32hz running @1ohm off an saz-1500d. They take what it can dish out, but I couldn't see them taking any more. So 2 cu ft for 2000 sounds about right. Just make sure you have enough port area. I'm running a 40 sq in kerfed slot port.

  33. Im you want less boom just tune higher.. In your situation i would go with aero ports. Make it about 4 Cu ft to 4.5 tune to 35- 37 hz with about 10-12 square inches of port per cube of enclosure and you willl have a great sounding flat punchy enclosure... Use torres calculator to make your box.
  34. so if you have a btl n3 on 25 watts that wouldnt be considered underpowered????

Kevin's a cool guy, i know him personally... ALSO i know the amps worked prior to him getting them BECAUSE they were trades from a good personal friend and I played with them even prior to Kevin getting a hold of them.
