  1. "Kevin"Subtillis 1800woofers Hand Built Enclosures Skar has an official forum here and a forum on another car audio forum. This can't be the same dude... "You get what you paid for" Especially enclosures. he offered cheap enclosures, you get them. You're missing the part where he posted pictures of high quality enclosures and installs that he represented as his own work (when it was not, he stole the pictures from different websites) and represented those pictures as portraying the quality of the enclosures that he was selling and that the purchasers would receive. So he flat out lied, pulled a bait-n-switch, lied some more, and then continued to pull several more antics during his internet career. He literally stole money from people by selling a product significantly different than advertised. That practice is against the law for any business in this country, fortunately for him (but unfortunately for his "customers") he was just some kid on the internet so not much could really be done. So no, it's not a simple case of "you get what you pay for". It was intentional deceit from the very beginning for the sole purpose of padding his pockets. No one said he can't seem like a nice guy in person. I'm sure he's rather pleasant. But he's still a piece of shit, no matter which way you slice it. I'm sure he was really just interested in "helping people out" by posting pictures of high quality craftsmanship, claiming it as his own when it was not, representing to the buyers that the enclosures they were receiving were going to be of similar quality, and then instead shipping shit enclosures to those individuals which IIRC were basically useless. Really sounds like he was just trying to help.
  2. Sinfoni is a high end manufacturer. Ideally that would mean they use higher quality parts, better build quality, better circuit design, etc. These aren't your "mass produced in China/Korea on a generic board design" line of products. While I don't know the MSRP of that particular unit their amplifiers and other products are equally expensive so that price doesn't seem entirely out of line for the brand. Value however is in the eye of the beholder. Not everyone is going to see $1050 of value in that particular product (myself included). Think of brands like Sinfoni and Brax (et al) as the Ferrari's and Lambo's of the car audio market.
  3. On the meter, they usually help a little since the air flow at the opening of the port is smoother. To the ear, it's really not going to be very noticeable unless you originally had a port that was restrictive, and then went with a kerfed design that greatly improved the flow.
  4. "Out for delivery" The unit has been recovered! The victim of the credit card fraud has been refunded, the alternator is recovered and we are only out the shipping charge to Atlanta. I call this a win.
  5. Happy birthday sir, and thank you for being a regular contributing member to the forums!
  6. The passive crossovers are there to direct the proper frequencies to the proper speakers. They don't really play much of a roll in amplifier selection. You will still want to use the highpass crossover on the Sundown amp to highpass the mids.
  7. No, Jacob designed the driver, not the brand. Kevin needed someone with acoustical knowledge on how to design a driver, so he enlisted Jacob.

well, decided to jump on the bandwagon again. i've decided i want some decent entry level comps. i've been looking at morel maximo 6.5s.. anything else around $120 that would suit my needs? wanted to stay right at $100 but unfortunately i saw nothing in the classifieds that would suit my needs

Best sounding sub ive herd to date were my x-cons and ive herd plenty of sq ones in my day. Honestly if you still want some serious output and a nice sounding sub you should stop looking haha.
  10. sexy, everything looks good to me
  11. Looks can be deceiving. More weight does not automatically mean more output, or better. Just saying in general.

i think i'm just going to wait and look for deals on icon's or xcon's.
  13. Stop making this vs that threads, thanks. Make an informed decision on your own do you think its a good deal or worth it or something you want then you will be set. Every week asking whether this sub is better than the next is a waste of forum space, we dont mind helping but these threads are useless.
  14. Build what gets you the responce you desire.
  15. The low's won't be anywhere near as good as what the Xcon is capable of. why do you say this? The Xcon is a low end monster with 31mm of Xmax and lower Fs. I have owned both and heard multiple setups using both drivers and aside from specs I've heard both first hand. In no way am I saying the sa-8 can't drop down low, it just isn't on the same level as the Xcon.

yup. thanks for the input damnit. now you're changing my mind. the morels are from amazon and i would assume them to be an authorized dealer. plus a warranty. but none of the support ia has on this board. but they're more expensive. so i'm conflicted Honestly what support would you need? Anything you do with one, your going to do with the other. Your not putting them in an enclosure and asking help for volume or tuning. Installed in doors or kickpods, which ever driver you get, this won't change. I guess you could burn either of them up, then it would come down to which company is going to help you out. As for the authorized dealer, I would assume amazon would be safe, but I don't see how you could have any guarantee, where as if you order the IA's you know they aren't knockoffs. --- I'm not saying don't get the IAs, but your in a tough spot, asking people what they think is completely subjective. Without any real background info on either drivers, you can't model them up in any way. Assuming mounting depth isn't a deciding factor, sensitive rating in relation to rms, then your going off the company, not the product per say.

One thing to consider on the Morels: Is the dealer authorized? Warranty? Tech support? With the IA comps your buying from an authorized dealer, great customer support form IA and SSA. And the members here on the forum can help as well. IA FTMFW!

hmm really? they seem to be a little less sensitive, the morels at 90.5db and the incriminators at 88db. i know that's pretty damn comparable, but i may be biased towards the morel name as well..... also, it's $20 shipping for the incriminators. but if they're a better speaker then i will definitely consider them instead.

I would recommend the IA components. I just installed a pair in my car.
  20. Based on my calculations the SD-12 D2 should work well sealed in a 0.65^3ft enclosure. Do you agree sundownz?
  21. That would be considered a T-Line correct?

    not even worth it
