  1. Main reason why I rarely help people with installs... My spare time is short and I really don't want to spend it chasing some electrical gremlins for people who want to mooch off.

Take this Set it to this Unscrew these Now, take these and make sure they are plugged into the thing in picture 1 Now take the black one and touch the metal end to a wire you unscrewed from your amp ( which was step 3) and take the red one and touch it the other wire you unscrewed from your amp (also was step 3). Look at the screen of the thing that was in picture 1 while doing this. It will give you a number. Tell us that number. Then, leave the black and red things plugged in, put the speaker wire down, and touch the red and black things metal ends to eachother and look at the number. Tell us that number. We need both of them.

Clocking in for the night shift, looks like it's going to be a long night.
  4. Running 100w over the RMS is likely not going to cause any damage. More than likely one of the system settings was set incorrectly such as the gain, bass boost, etc, or he was using a ported enclosure & played too far under tuning. In which case, your friend could suffer the same fate even if running "exactly" the rated power handling.

  6. Thanks for updating the website! Looks great! Can't wait for specs so I can have my box builder start buildin! Do you think a pair of gcon 12's in 6cu ft slot ported on 1000rms @ 28hz would be a good target?-Jamie M. 1k will be perfect, they are designed to be able to handle more fyi . But 500/each will sound excellent. Soon, very soon. As you can see, we are getting the site updated and photos done to prepare.
  7. http://www.oaudio.com/500W_SUBAMP.html Those are what I have here. Love them, they do rated or better and will run at 2 ohm with no issues.

Use 3/4 MDF and you can get it at home depot / lowes. Also without exact trunk dimensions you will not be able to design anything until you know what your limits are. You can have a 3.75cu box tuned to 32hz and use many many many different measurements to come up with that. Its not quite as easy as one may think. Get your measurements and contact someone to do the design for you and cut sheets.

  11. Saw him live in 1993.
  12. No they are not to be used inside of a vehicle.
  13. Ha nice looks like he got bombed with some confetti egg bombs.
  14. everything off.. set your DMM to ohm. and red on the + and black on the -
  15. In comparison to Sundown and RF, yes. Considerably cheaper. Not saying they aren't as capable, just that their MSRP is lower. The name change is annoying :|
  16. What? We suggested a superior product over an inferior one for about the same price... When you give us a this VS this thread we will tell you which one is a better product....
  17. Saturday's project... Same class as me, 3000w and a single 12 Pretty good for 4 hours of testing. Deceivingly simple setup
  18. PSi parts are garbage. Do not deal with them. Get Fi parts, they are multitudes better.
  19. Wow I hit 7K and never realized it until now.
  20. Here are some pictures from the Box build.. Currently setting in my friends truck. Mine is bigger and uglier then his.. Sounds amazing running off a audiopipe 1500 cannot wait to get my new amp... http://photobucket.com/RedneckAudio?albumview=slideshow
  21. Ok guys I have good and bad news. I am going to sell my truck, but not before I make a couple more videos. My next build will be my Toyota 4runner.
  22. tequila and skirt steak and dark side of the moon keeping me company tonight
  23. Foam is always messy, just gotta wait for it to dry and clean it up That's odd, my buddy gained around 2 db just by sealing... all cars are different I guess.

  25. And damn did it sound good... Was nice meeting you at the Indy show... I should be rocking my Xcon by the next one.
  26. Hey all! Glad to be back. I hope I can be here more. I took some time out of my life to just change it up. A great couple I know is in a hard spot and needed some house work done in a pinch and the man of the house is on the mend from a shattered leg. Made some cash, getting healthier and healthier. I think I might be able to get back into a constant gym routine without aggravating my health issues..... Now getting in great shape will be #1 in my life and then finding a job and fixing home life will be number 2. How is everyone? It feels like I haven't been here for a year. It's crazy but I miss this crew. I am a little sad that you guys are not moving the HOP faster. WTF.

damn it. i really wanted to make the first sandwich comment.
  29. Why not? Power isn't everything.
  30. I say a vertical clam shell get my vote. Just like this one. Great looking wall IMO.
  31. How or will this change the efficiency?? This^ Generally speaking the 8ohm driver will have a slightly higher efficiency for various reasons depending on the voice coil differences. That said, for a given amplifier the 8ohm driver will also end up receiving approximately 3db less power, and the increase in efficiency will probably not end up being 3db. So if you already have an amplifier, it's possible the 4ohm driver would end up being louder on the same amp even though the 8ohm is slightly higher in sensitivity. If amplifier selection is also open and you can supply the same amount of power to either driver, then the increase in efficiency may be of benefit. Though efficiency won't be the only thing to change.....an increase of efficiency in the 8ohm driver would also necessarily come at the expense of low frequency extension (the "no free lunch" rule, otherwise known as Hoffman's Iron Law). So the short of it is that which version is a better option in any particular installation is going to come down to the needs of that particular installation. And ofcourse this is all conjecture since we don't know exactly what the differences will be in the final driver design until Jacob releases that information.
