Audio technix deadener.....
4 pointsReally Dudes, even Mass companies can have Elemental Skars to their reputation and still sell product. People will buy cheap shit just because it's cheap. Hell, they buy shit just by being told it's on sale.4 points

Audio technix deadener.....
4 pointsIt's actually worse (and funnier) than that. It started with the soda can tests which proclaimed SDS the winner! He actually left that video on Youtube for something like a year. I was still getting queries up until a few moths ago from people wh saw the video. While he was gathering samples for the soda can testing, he got hooked up wth AudioWrap someow and was spamming their product. Soon after that he decided to launch his own product and started spaming forums again. Somebody from one of these forums e-mailed me to ask if I knew who cthedinger was. He told me the forum members had backed him into a corner by asking him to explain how vibration dampers work. About two minutes later I get an e-mail that starts: "Hey Don. I was just thinking about things. Can you explain to me how vibration dampers work - strictly for my own education"? No joke.4 points

2 pointsWhile flattery is nice, it does not pay the bills. So if your are being copied and they are selling to what should be your customers, it starts to take a negative roll. Thus internet wars end up starting lol. It's especially negative when the imitator says the object of his imitation is ripping people off by overcharging for crap, while his product is "better than Dynamat" (hypothetically :2 points

xcon 1.5 per voice coil question
2 pointsThe advertised 2 ohms is AC Impedance. The 1.5 you're getting is DC Resistance. Nothing is wrong with your Xcon. If you get another Dual 2 it will read similarly (it will probably not be EXACTLY the same). And don't run your amp at .5 ohms. It will put lots of stress on the amp and you run the risk of blowing it if you're not careful. It doesn't matter if you set the gains perfectly, most amps are not built to run at .5 ohms on a daily basis. Oh and the impedance changes when playing it because of several things. Heat (from being powered), Position in the motor, and a bunch of other stuff cause the impedance to rise and drop. This is called "impedance rise" or "box rise" and is normal.2 points

2 pointsThe secret to removing a low quality butyl adhesive is by using a better quality butyl adheisve to dab at it and pull it off. Aaron and I did this on a project and it works well until the better stuff gets overloaded and you have to throw it away. I've got some damaged Extruded Butyl Rope that would be perfect for this if you don't have anything else to use. PM me with an address and I'll send you some.2 points

Audio technix deadener.....
1 pointSo I finally ordered some 80mil AT deadener to test out. Shipping was quick and I received a discounted rate. So that was great. Everything started going wrong once the package showed up. The adhesive backing on the foil had gotten smeared all over the inside the box, so I had to literally rip the box apart to get to the deadener. The adhesive had gotten stuck all over the wrong side of the back as well. First thing I noticed was the foil is a extremely rigid. It is close to the same thickness as stinger roadkill expert, but much less flexible. Second, is the plastic film to cover the adhesive is difficult to remove, which leaves more opportunities to be slice by the aluminum backing. Third, the peanut butter colored adhesive is excessively sticky and too "gumy". It has the consistency of chewed up bubble gum. But I figured this would make it stick better.... Wrong... The area I applied this deadener was the underside of my rear deck. I have previously used stinger roadkill expert and second skin damp pro on this area. Each time, all deadener was removed and the area prepped again. The stinger and second skin where on there about 6 months each. No issues at all. I got done cleaning all the second skin off, prepped the area using acetone and then a damp cloth. Ensured the area was completely dry, then began the application of the Audio technix. This was an over timely process due to the lack of cooperation from the aluminum backing and the gumy adhesive. I do not use a roller, I use the handle end of a screw driver. It allows me to apply more pressure and get in all the cracks. It takes longer, but is more effective. Ok job done right? WRONG lol. I pop my trunk a few days later and notice the some of the deadener drooping down. So I take the time and reform the deadener. About a week later, I pop the trunk and find a bigger piece of the deadener laying on one of my amps, and the adhesive literally dripping down off the rear deck. I've since ripped all of the crap out. Now I have dripping gumy glue sheet all over my rear deck. I tried some tips from other to remove it with no luck. Its a complete catastrophe. I've asked to send the unused portion back(20ft) a get a refund, but I got a no. HERE ARE THE PICTURES, KEEP IN MIND, THE DAMP PRO AND ROADKILL EXPERT WHERE APPLIED IN THE EXACT SAME FASHION AND THE EXACT SAME AREAS. Now if you come in here talkin trash, keep in mind, I've used alot of deadener and adhesive for this crap can't even sustain itself, so there's no way it will hold up and aluminum backing. Also the over thickness is less than that of damp pro and roadkill expert. I'd rather pay the premium over priced price of dynamat extreme than deal with this. Damp pro, roadkill expert, and dynamat extreme are superior products. the two larger pieces had been off less than day in those pics the smaller pieces were removed at that time, then pictures of the adhesive dripping off the following day.1 point

Audio technix deadener.....
1 pointI remember when the AT owner was really pushing AudioWrap as the greatest sound dampening to come out. Then he is doing a CLD test on pop cans at his parents house and asking for free samples from quality vendors such as SDS and Second Skin. A short time later he is promoting his own line of Sound Dampening material and knocking other companies products. I give him props for starting a company, but his lack of knowledge and business ethics have turned me off. Just my .02!1 point

Is there a difference in output between 400-1000 watts?
Perceived loudness is also dependent on frequency, so I wouldn't use such a broad generality.1 point

Is there a difference in output between 400-1000 watts?
at low levels, same sub same box, same everything.. changing the amp from a clamped 400 watts to a clamped 1000 watts should in theroy gain 3 DB, and would be a great gain in output... BUT, if you have a 5000 watt clamped output and you add 600 watts of clamped power then the gain by ear would be nothing. and likly very little on a meter.1 point

Is there a difference in output between 400-1000 watts?
It also depends on the setup as well. If a sub is setup with an enclosure that pounds at 400 Watts, pounding a 1000 Watts, will only sound just a bit louder. That is why when I design systems, I always choose the woofer size first, based on the amount of space available. At that point you pick the motor, amp combo that fits the budget. So why buy a larger amp if a smaller one will produce close to the same output? It is all about headroom. Clean efficiant power is where the sound is at. Stuff is gonna break if your amp has to run at full tilt all the time.1 point

1 pointThat would probably only be a small factor. Back in early 2000s gold was $2-300 an oz, and today it's ~1700 that's a little more increase than inflation1 point

Help me chose a 12" woofer...
1 pointI was simply suggesting that your port could be limiting the potential of the driver, regardless of the driver. Imagine getting a sports car, then placing a block of wood under the gas pedal. Now move the block of wood from one car to another, potential is still limited.1 point

Audio technix deadener.....
1 pointIt's a shame to see ANY 'sound deadener' product fail simply for the fact that someone spent the time, money, and effort to install and now clean up the mess. Whether it was installation error, bad batch, whatever, it's a shame. And I am amazed at some of the comments and things that people have said in regards to Kyle's pictures... it's amazing how heated these sound deadening threads get.1 point

1 pointThank you, JC Penney. I already bought my dad a father's day gift, otherwise I would stop by and pick something up.1 point- where would i be able to get the cheapest 150amp alt?
this movie that came out a few years ago about getting the earth to start rotating again. See, the earth stopped rotating around it's core and massive natural disasters started happening. So they built this device using an element called "unobtanium" to dive into the core and set off explosions precisely to get the Earth rotating again. That is what Autozone needs, 1 copy on DVD or Bluray for $17.99.1 point- Buying stocks.

1 pointIf your posting question such as this here, then your likely wasting your time, and likely money. You can't expect to just waltz into something you have no idea about, and come out ahead. 1 pointyeah sad to see Jacob fuller promote a crappy product. Especially from a kid that trash talked sundown publicly. Jacob used to recommend Peel N Seal as an effective sound deadener. Just because he owns Sundown doesn't mean he knows or understands anything about sound deadener. The owner of AT has a history of dishonesty and demonstrated idiocy. Don't know why people are surprised when his product fails to perform any better than his character & behavior would indicate. I would never use nor recommend the product.1 point- Audio technix deadener.....

Unless you're buying new subs there's no way change them to a High Qts sub. As Duran mentioned the High Qts versions have less steel in the coil gap and that cannot be machined that way once the motor is assembled and magnetized. IMHO, if you have four subs that you like the way they work why mess with it? There's a good possibility that if the change in the response was actually that noticeable that you may not like it anyway. A peaky response refers to a high peak at a certain frequency, and therefore the sub(s) are loudest at that point than at higher or lower frequencies. Depending on their placement, the size of the space they're playing in, enclosure specifications and much much more, the peak can be useful or it can be harmful to the end result your ears are hearing. That's why I said, if it sounds good to you then don't worry about it.1 point- What would High Qts give me over Std Qts in a seald box ?
High QTS removes some seteel from the motor, decreasing motor force, it will sound more smooth, the opposite of "peaky".1 point- pink bentley :) (bored)
1 pointI would take it, only the car though....... unless i could spend her money!!1 point- how to increase rpm idle for car audio
If you have an electric drivers seat you can use a pole or stick to put between gas pedal and drivers seat and use the electric slider to push the seat/pedal to desired RPM. ghetto but will work in a pinch1 point- SSA's Daily fitness iHop
