  1. Can i ask why you put it as close as you can to the battery? like what does that do for you having it that close to the battery? If you put the fuse 3 foot down line from the battery, the 3 feet from the battery to the fuse is unprotected. If you put it close to the battery, it minimizes the amount of wire unprotected. Example you ask? I was young and didn't know any better. I found a perfect spot to mount my inline fuse holder on the firewall. Well, the wire going down the fender melted and dead shorted to the body and smoked the wire. Luckily it didn't blow up the battery. I think most MFG's I've seen spec it to be within 18" of the battery. I just shoot for as close to the battery as I can get.
  2. I would rather run the ICONs. Not that the ZCONs sound bad but when you mention SQ ICONs immediately pop into my head. You should have enough room for either setup, and I wouldn't use the RE calculator for your final design.
  3. I would rather run the GCONs because they will handle the power you have better, and I personally would rather run less "better" subs than a bunch of "cheaper" subs. Not taking anything away from the DCONs as they are a great sub just MY opinion, I can't tell you what you would prefer with the little bit of info that you provided. If you ask more questions and define your goals we can better help you.
  4. How the hell is anyone suppose to answer that question? Its all about the install, Any answer is a complete guess and nothing else.
  5. You base your sub selection on what kind of help complete strangers are gonna give you on a public web site, Jesus dude lighten up and quit being a little whiny bitch. SSA subs are some of the best you can buy period! If you want opinions from the SSA staff then email SSA and ask them, this is a public forum and 99% of the people on h ere are enthusiasts just like you.

Custom carbon fiber dust cap from Duran. Barely used. $300 shipped UPS GROUND.
  7. I think I posted a pizza recipe on HAF This is the yummmmmy you are looking for. http://www.homeaudioforum.net/topic/183-neopolitan-pizza-crust/
  8. I do not think you will be able to get that much power for that price in a Sundown amplifier. A couple of months ago I sold my SAZ2500 for $550. If your budget has to stay around $500, there is nothing wrong with giving those XCON's a smaller amount of power. They will sound great and get loud very easy.

People mix them all the time. I am not saying its right but I have run cars for years with mixed batteriesGet the biggest one you can fit d3100 if you can fit it in the back.

  11. Use amazing goop to fix it not epoxy it is not flexible enough
  12. I usually use pancetta and more egg yolks than whites. It is one of my favorite dishes.
  13. I keep typing procuto. its pancetta. either way, i used serrano hom.
  14. Plusses. Just under a gallon. And what does a man do when he gets home? Makes a batch of carbonara! Why? Because it has raw eggs and that plus fermented stuff make men more manly. Long since proven. Seriously... who can't catch a buz on that much booze and drives home and makes carbonara? I didn't even have procuto so I had to use Serrano ham. It is gooooood.

if that xcon isnt loud, you are doing something wrong, even only on 600 rms.

    Something is wrong
  17. Keep the subs on the same plane. The ICONs are awesome subs.
  18. That much cider would equal heartburn from hell for me. And the shits. J
  19. Finally making some progress. Box going back in was hell, had to take off the leather beauty panel cause we ripped it and I redid it, no biggie. Box is massive In and ready Went ahead and deadened all doors but only took a pic of this one. After lots of brain storming and not wanting to start on fiberglassing doors and realizing how huge those Crescendo 8's are I decided to pick up some Rockford Forsgate Punch Pro Audio 6.5's for the stock location. Also mounted the Ft1's off axis on doors near the mids. The mids are very nice and loud. After getting in all in and alot of EQ'ing running active I have to say that it sounds awesome. Its not perfect but it will suffice until I decide how I want to do door panels. I think I will sell the Crescendo 8's and buy another set of the Rockford pro audio mids, The are expensive but are very shallow and very well built. anyway here are a couple pics I have the final 2 d3400's coming this week and I will be done fooling with this shit for a minute. Right now it is brutally loud and without the worry of voltage I will be happy. Maybe I can get it metered soon. It shouldnt have a problem going 152's I would think. For a box tuned low at 30 it slams
  20. Sounds like a decision you need to make with two other people at home.
  21. i had my 2 ssa zcon 12's getting 4300watts and they would get stanky after a few mins.... i also ran 1 ssa zcon 15 in 3.5 cubes @30hz on 2400watts and it never got stanky even after beating its brains out for 7 months lol strong ass subs
  22. That would be fine for a quick burp, but 30 seconds? You're gonna see magic smoke for sure. You can't run 3x a sub's rms and expect it to not care. You most certainly can under ideal circumstances. The question posed here is too vague though.

After port displacement you'll probably be in the 4cf range on that box. To figure out the length of the port you need to fiure out how much area the port will have (H x W). From there you plug it into the formula for dertimining port length. Or you can just use a program like WinISD to figure it all out. Realize that you want a decent amount of port area to make sure that port noise isn't a problem and the more port area you have, the longer the port needs to be to maintain a certain tuning. The longer port displaces more airspace making for a smaller box, which needs a longer port to maintain a certain tuning and so the downward spiral goes. Your best bet is to determine what size box you want with regard to net volume (I'd shoot for somewhere between 3.5 and 4cf based on your space limitations) and figure out how much port area you can go with while maintaining you max external enclosure dimensions. I would also plan on a vertical port simply for ease of construction. A horizontal port that ran the full width of the enclosure with a realistic amount of area would be so narrow that it would behave funny and probably exhibit a lot of noise. If you made it tall enough not to whistle, it would be so large that it would end up displacing more volume than the main chambers of the enclosure.

Maybe you expect too much out of a single sealed 12" ? Some ideas ; Try a ported box. Use aeroports too save space if the trunk is small. Change box position : fire the sub through the rear. more power work on the electrical part of your install to feed the amplifier (!) Good luck, and tell us what you did.

Loud is relative to the person and the install. There are a number of factors at play here that effect the output. How much sound is allowed to pass through from the rear into the cabin, what kind of sound deadening you have done, where your gains are set, enclosure integrity, strength of signal the amplifier is receiving, current supply on hand, head unit settings, cross-over settings, etc. etc.

I am educated to teach you how to be more active and take the smartest and safest path to a healthy lifestyle. I am not a psychologist, medical doctor, or dietician. I can help inspire you, but I cannot cure you. I can give you a foundation, but I cannot make you happier, thinner, or perfect. I can educate you, but I cannot do the work for you. I can challenge you and encourage you, but I cannot prevent natural bumps along the road. I can help you through the process, but I cannot gurantee that it will make it any easier. I can believe in you, but you have to believe in yourself. I can hope you become active for the rest of your life, but only you can make the choice to be active. I can make you stronger, but I cannot make you indestructible. I can hope that you are successful, but you have to believe that success is possible. I know that you can make it happen, but only you can open yourself up to the reality of a healthy lifestyle and allow yourself to aspire. This is my passion, my purpose, and my life. You must commit to living the life that I know is possible for you. Just a little something for those looking for a little motivation. More to come on the psyche aspect later.

Today I will give everything I have, what I keep inside I will lose forever. Get to the gym and train. The gym is where you are going to learn to be your best. Life hurts. Training hurts. Loneliness hurts. Change hurts. You need all of them to grow. So commit to a new lifestyle, commit to being healthy. It is a lifelong journey. You don't need to spend seven days a week training. Half an hour three or four days a week is enough. You'll get addicted after that anyway. You are either in or out. There is no in between. If you're not 100% in, get out now. You will stuggle and you will progress. That's all there is to it.
