ill explain more.. you would have more luck gaining output by making a optaiml box.. im talking tonsof air space, kurfed port smooth cornors and so forth.. the right box makes ALL the diffrance,. you can put the best sub in the world in a shit box and get shitty results..... same token you can put a bullshit sub in a optial box and yeild shocking results... lucky for you FI publishes accurate specs and building a perfect box is easy but hey... what the fuck do i know
  2. Yeah, we have manners and common courtesy up here in the north as well. I hope you don't suspect otherwise. I'm all for sound ordinance laws; as long as they are reasonable. I got one sound ordinance ticket when I was young and dumb and learned my lesson. I didn't need a felony charge to teach me a lesson. That sounds like a strong case of over policing to me. I think mandatory community service and a large fine would be much more useful than throwing someone in jail.
  3. I hate when people just blast their systems in subdivisons or by houses at night. I love loud systems but there is a time and place to do it. Definitely not by your house. That is how things get stolen, like someone else said. The 50ft rule is really stupid though because you can hear my stock speakers more than 50 ft. Its funny we have parties at my friends house and there's like 2 speakers and the neighbors complain so my friends mom went and got a permit to have music. The music wasn't really loud to begin with but the neighbors are just those people that complain about everything.
  4. Mounting holes could be different, so "no problem" would depend on your ability to drill & tap new holes if necessary. If you can't do that then you would need to make sure the basket has the same mounting hole pattern. Were you planning to use an AQ recone kit? Not a great idea to build a sub out of random parts like most people do...they think it's "cool" that it's unique but reality is that most of them have no engineering behind them and they have no idea about the actual performance of the subwoofer. Most people with these custom subs can't even tell you what the T/S are.
  5. They want what they can't have. I agree with this. It's like winning an arm wrestling competition to snag you from another woman. Their version of driving a Lamborghini past a guy who was your rival. That is the competitive side. The flip side is that they crave a man to make them happy. If they see you making another woman happy it shoves that hunger under their nose. "If you can make her happy why not me", they think. They are lonely in some way and want to have that part filled. The best example is that one of the best, craziest lovers you will ever have is one who is married and unhappy. She would do things that make a hooker blush and smile while doing it.

  8. was that directed to me? am i the one faning the flame? if so.. let me speak on that.... im a man. my word is all i have. as a man.. i am expected to be held to my word. and my actions. and i strongly belive in that. i am a business man my self... my business is built directly on my reputaion in a small town. because im a man that stand by my word and is known for honest and dependable actions i thrive. either your a man or a fish..... you CHOOSE what kinda man you are....
  9. Wrong. I'm just trying to make sense of this thread here, you need to chill out brah. A guy comes in with a complaint which he is well within his right to do, and the entire internet automatically predicts company and product failure. Why doesn't he post exactly what he is trying to find out instead of going from "fanboy" to...whatever he has become. After all, isn't this a car audio forum where enthusiasts share ideas, knowledge and experience? To the guys fanning the flames, are you all speaking from personal experience or you just read something on the internet and thought it hey this is cool chit let's flame away. If this complaint is legit, OP needs to post it everywhere, this isn't the dead end, is it? facts>fiction. Let's put it this way, "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me."
  10. Little pour of GM makes the night a little smoother.
  11. Pay it and be more cautious. If you know that he complains turn it down when you're in the area. Turn it down at stoplights, neighborhoods, parking lots, just be considerate and you will be okay. If your neighbor truly is just being a dick and it wasn't that loud then that sucks. Just be smart, you wouldn't want 3 violations.
  12. The SA's just aren't that awesome in a sealed enclosure. I ran them in both sealed and ported. The SA and Q are really different drivers. The X is even more different. Comparing all three is kind of like comparing a SUV to a Sedan to a Pick Up Truck. Just because you liked one 12" subwoofer sealed doesn't mean you'll like all of them sealed. The diameter of subwoofer has no mandate over which frequencies it plays better. The larger the diameter will yield more output. It seems like you are pretty stuck with running sealed, i assume you have your reasons. If you're limited to running sealed and the drivers you listed, the Q with the high qts would be my choice.
  13. I must say i do enjoy my icon, good sub
