  1. sounds more like user error
  2. And why is that, as long as you know what your doing then you won't have this problem.
  3. Your amp can produce a 1700 watt sine wave. It can produce up to 2X that if it isn't a sine wave. It all depends on what you send into it and how much you ask out of it. If the power supply can support it, it could easily produce over 3Kw under certain circumstances...
  4. That amplifier is capable of producing more power than the RMS rating of the subwoofer. You probably exceeded the thermal capacity of the driver.
  5. Well, I'm gonna redo everything. Low budget will include Kenwood KFC components and a Lanzar amp. I'm not going to cut the corner of tapping into the factory wire this time. I'm gonna do it right(wire from the amp, directly to the crossover). May play around with tweeter placement this time
  6. added this review to the store so others could read it. Thanks. http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/products/evil-18-sound-solutions-audio-18-3250w-evil-series-subwoofer.html
  7. That is one heck of a positive mini-review.
  8. didin't like this video lol
  9. Getting closer to the end. Please share this with everyone you know.
  10. Everything I've read on them leads to shortened life.Just shorter coil life? I'm in a bind for cash and as long as it won't hurt the truck.... I may have to go with something cheeper for now. :-(
  11. My SP4's started a small fire in this chick's panties once. Damnedest thing you ever saw. lol Either guys are just clueless and completely beating the piss out of these subs enough to catch fire or There is malfunction with the sub causing this.. I think one of these mystery subs should be sent back to FI so a determination can be made to either fix the issue or tell the person to quit being a dumbass.
  12. There is no benefit and yes you'll have to retune. The only possible benefit is if you have such crappy amps that when you use the gain knob appropriately they have thermal noise. Conveniently on a sub you won't really hear that anyways.
  13. Glad to see they will be better than before, I always wanted to try a Fisher Custom enclosure and nows my chance. Welcome back Fisher Customs
  14. Total raised so far from SSA donations and member donations: $1900.02
  15. Ok, so here are day 2 out of the box numbers on the meter. 149.35 @ 43hz in the kick door open 141.37 @ 27hz in the kick door open 148.04 @ 40hz in the kick door open 147.03 @ 39hz sealed on the dash 147.25 @ 43hz sealed on the dash 147.55 @ 35hz sealed on the dash 146.09 @ 32hz sealed on the dash 147.04 @ 38hz sealed on the dash 146.06 @ 45hz sealed on the dash I am EXTREMELY satisfied with this Evil!! It is truely an amazing subwoofer. Its just a completely different sound that I am not use to. Not for my own vehicle and nor any others beside Swift's F-250. The clarity and bass reproduction is simply phanomenal. I really can't say enough good things about it, and if you are on the bridge about getting one, DO IT! There is just simply no note that this subwoofer doesn't pick up. For example, in just ONE song, you can literally be slaped in the face by the higher notes, and then without a notice later, have your ass shaking out of the seat from the low notes. I was kind of weary about throwing 128cuin of port to just one subwoofer, but man, what a outcome this has become. To do nearly a 150 OUT OF THE BOX in a completely daily box, is just has been fluttered with butterflies. I get blurry vision, I have so much flex now that needs to be addressed, and I have electrical back bone thats needs to be looked at as well. Well enough talking of the Evil, at the end of the day, just do it, haha. As far as whats next for this build. I think I am going to attack my electrical. I spoke to Iraggi Alternator today at his shope, he says he can do trips for sure and with a little modification, we can place QUADS in my explorer, which will be the first IN THE WORLD. I got a quote and things are looking really good. Thinking 4 320s. So stay tuned! I will contine to take videos, pictures, and attneding shows. Next one will be SBN, then MECA on the 23rd of March. Stay tuned!

    well heres the pics!
  17. Same thing happened here in Japan. Guy was running 6 BTLs and one caught fire. He was powering them with 6 AQ3500Ds. I wasn't there to see it, just heard about it. He bought another to replace it. My guess is a direct short somewhere or high current burning up the power wires. I carry a small extinguisher just for this reason.
  18. Prices are now posted here: http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/categories/enclosures/hand-made-enclosures.html As the enclosures are built and shipped to me, I will add real product photos. Stay tuned.
  19. So I've been BEATING on the Evil ALL day!! Even after metering. 149.35 was my highest. Just got home and was metered earlier around 12pm. So for 8 HOURS, I've been giving her all I got. Grant it, not straight hours, but pretty damn close. On mobile but will update here in a few hours at work pc.
  20. We are on board with someone a bit more reliable this time around
  21. It's awesome dude That's 1/4 speed.
  22. That's one of the shittiest installs I've seen--thanks for sharing.
  23. I might have to start a thread for when is my order going to ship because is has been a long wait already. I thought I would have gotten a tracking number by now. Should be one in your store account It won't be moving yet though ;/ There is, I just can't help but, well you know.
  24. Send Aaron a PM ever few hours asking for updates.
  25. Can I ask where you got your information? I have been using FG for years and had a very in depth discussion with a vendor many moons ago about the differences between resins, and was informed there is wax in ester resins that floats to the top to cover the uncured layer of resin left behind. Im not saying you are wrong, but this is contrary to everything I've ever heard about ester resins.Strangely enough I have read what Quentin says today. And I too got the same information about wax from my supplier. I do all layers in one go (or as much as possible), cold mix and it turns out nice. I've been thinking today about building a fiberglass hood for the Jeep, although I see way too much work to be worth it other than for cool factor. Carbon fiber!
  26. Thanks Kyle! Yeah for sure it is.The 200x4 boss amp then the 340x6 zed amp. The zed amp blew off one of the center cone thingy and rip the surround on another. But both most likely my fault lol. Hell, they kept playing and I didn't noticed till I replaced them. The Boss and Zed don't put out that power at 4 ohms. Swift that box looks badass, I think we have a new box builder on the site. You wanna build me one next? Thanks man, I appreciate the compliments. I stay so busy with my business that its hard to find a good time for builds, sometimes I work 12 hour days, 6am to 6pm then come home and work on a build till midnight. But when your ready let me know and we'll see whats going on. I have to spread them out, ya know. lol I didnt even really see my wife and kids this weekend, but his box is done and it turned out great so I hope he enjoy's it.

  28. And this is a good thing how? OP, please disregard this useless information and never run your amp below 9 volts. Smh
  29. First we need a budget. Then you need to figure out what you want to go with as far as processing is concerned. Definitely would not recommend a 3-way. Crawl before you walk. A 3-way is significantly more complicated than a 2-way, and with a decent processor a 2-way will more than keep you busy dialing in. Once you have mastered the art of the 2-way active setup, think about proceeding on to 3-way. A well tuned and well setup 2-way will kick the shit out of a poorly setup and poorly tuned 3-way. And if this is your first foray into active setups, the 3-way will end up being poorly tuned and poorly setup. More isn't always better. And no offense to Sacred, but none of his suggestions were very good.....so don't take that advice.
  30. Defiantly not going the super tweeter route. To be honest one of the first things that came out was madisound and the Seas drivers seemed to catch my eye.
  31. Just found this guy's channel on youtube. Just thought it would be interesting to look at. As there isn't many ZED builds here on the forum.

I will be building 2 of these boxes sometime in the next week. There are matched to fit my tiny trunk (00 Mustang Vert)Each is 0.86896 cubic feet, tuned to 32 or 33hz. Each will house a CompVR 10 inch sub, Seeing around 400rms each. The boxes are from a friend so they will be free. There replacing prefab sealed boxes about .8 cubes I would like to know if theres anything wrong with my design. The port is 12.5 inches wide, by half an inch tall. It extends all the way until it is half an inch from the back wall.

  36. So I've decided to finally start this build after procastinating and having some free time here at work. Equipment list is as follows: Pioneer AVH-4300DVD Boss REV-655 (Mids/High) AQ1200D (Sub) IA I series Coaxial (rear) IA I series Components (front) 10" SSA Icon D2 DC Creations Enclosure (Coming Soon) 47 Feet of Welding cable (Awaiting Shipment) 3 15 Feet Monoprice RCA's 100 Feet of 12 gauge Monoprice Speaker Wire This is a on going project that would soon lead to for some more serious output, but this will get me through till then. I will keep my plannings under wrap to keep the suspense and will reveal whatever shows up at the door . But for now, I will show pics! Sorry for so many, I tend to be a camera whore lol The following pictures you can see how I threw everything in, and after a few days, I began to clean it up. And thats where I am as of this moment, again, sorry for so many pictures lol, all was taken with my Kyocera Echoe. Right now, my new cable is in the mail, 15 pounds worth lol. And enclosure is being designed by DC Creations, so just waiting on those two things at this moment. But for a quick review of where everything stands right now, watching Transformers in here sounds fucking amazing. Once I get the sub in there, it will definately be better than going to the movie theatre for sure. It gets so loud in here now and I'm glad I can finally hear the words with minimal distoration at high levels. I would like to thank edouble and Sean DeYoung for their amazing contribution On a side note: Heres me slaving 12 hour shifts at work KITTY!!
  37. Due the last thread having serious loading issues and bogging down the server, we started this continuation of the original. Carry on....
