  1. There isn't a DD 8" woofer made with near the linear mechanical capacity of the SA-8 v.2 -- the DD 2508-SC I had Klippel testing has a hot mess of a CMS curve and a very odd BL curve. I am confident the 1008 and 1508 have a better suspension as they use 2" coils, though... but I wouldn't expect LF performance as good as an SA-8 v.2 from either. I haven't had a 1008 or 1508 in here for Klippel yet, though. Stock woofer vs. stock woofer the 1508 would be better at SPL burps than an SA-8 v.2, though. Many people enjoy the "punchy" sound from a 1508 as well; but if your goal is low-end extension the SA-8 v.2 would be a better choice.

    Wait, what ?
  3. With your power range dont forget about the ssa xcon 18.
  4. If you already have a q12 why not get a basket and recone to 18? Please lets not get into another bl vs q debate. But the q defiantly does not lack output and will still get loud and sound good doing it.
  5. You are the guy that buys the two small pepperoni pizzas for three bucks more than the large even though it is 15% less food. you are the 1 of the guys that scares away the potential new customer with your attitude problem Because he is trying to correct wrong information while being helpful?

no..and...no.. it hasn't been 'replaced' we just took it down because it's the end of the lifecycle on the N series woofers..it's not being replaced by the team sub we had no issues with heat and the way that we did the neo on the motors..that's why we had that massive hunk of aluminum heatsink in the middle of it so it never got hot enough to lose flux..
  9. You sir are dedicated. I felt BAD for you watching your face while in the box. Dayum!
  10. Bigjon your still da man in my book!
  11. Then the motor go some good stuff too.
  12. Out with the old tranny fluid. 91,500 miles on it. New next to the old.

Because of the BTL N2 I never realized how inadequate my sound deadening was, so for this I thank the BTL series for making me blow a butt load of money on deadener. R.I.P.
  14. flawless idea, dont forget some chrome and a catchy misspelled name in a seemingly bad ass font, and take classes on how to be a douche, ya know.. for good measure.

There is a huge difference between attaching a bunch of magnets to a piece of steel vs. engineering exactly what is necessary while being superior at the same time.
  16. Probably quite a few people that'd be willing to pay good money for the same analysis on their own vehicles for competition purposes. Time to start another side business Sean
  17. then why would the sp4 sound good man, that dont make sense. you guys come off like ass holes just to let you know
  18. Well that escalated fast.
  19. lol so please share with us your "likes" of this sub... please. secondly buying a sub based on a Xmax figure is like buying a sports car because it has an ash tray
  20. 8 inch sub re 38.18 Fo 38.18 qts .5458 qes .5919 qms 7 vas 9.553 bl 9.14 xmax 20 mms 101 cms 168.4 spl 87.48 12 sub re 2 fo 23 qts .3534 qes .3721 qms 7 vas 94.72 bl 11.38 xmax 20 mms 156 spl 93.2 Nope don't think I forgot any. I agree with you 100 percent on being more efficient all things being equal. And yes the two 8's have quite a bit more motor force overall. But the thing I think you may be forgetting is coil weight. The two 8 cones may be close in weight to the 12 BUT. when you add the extra coil weight into the mix the BL to moving mass ratio is lost. Then you factor in the tighter syspension on the 8 168.4 uM/N versus 279uM/N on the 12 you lose more efficiency
  21. There is no correlation between power rating and the amount of excursion vs power, ever. This is a flawed comparison. Additionally, if you take two drivers with identical motors that have 1/2 the Sd of a single driver with the same motor, the pair are more efficient, always. They behave more linear and have less power compression. Additionally, if you have more motor force, all else being equal, to a given Sd, this in itself is inherent to more potential efficiency.
  22. You are the guy that buys the two small pepperoni pizzas for three bucks more than the large even though it is 15% less food. you are the 1 of the guys that scares away the potential new customer with your attitude problem That was the goal of the post. 8's make NO SENSE. Neither should be purchased for the OP. The DD in particular is absolutely a terrible choice.
  23. Lol nice choice..... I guess he didn't read the thread?
  24. Nothing more should be added to this thread until the OP gives us more information.
  25. Bc vas determines box volume. The box for the same cone area will still be smaller a d the port will still take up more volume.
  26. I am no expert but I'd bet that the suspension on the DD is not calculated at "one way" travel like most drivers.... Almost all their drivers are 66mm until you get to the 3500 series... I know they're both great companies but what are you going for just loud bass or great low end? And that means absolutely NOTHING. Glad you can do rudimentary math, but perhaps you should apply it. And still, single ported 8 is teh dumb. why don't you guys answer the question in the OP which sub??? you just want to argue some specs and talk about going ported or not LOL Stop being a moron. OP's thread doesn't at all follow the Terms & Conditions of the board he agreed to when joining. If it did, he'd have an answer. The real answer here is though that an 8" driver makes NO SENSE in his application so the correct answer is simple. Neither. Narrowing down which driver he should use requires more information.
  27. The sa sub has a great deal more linear excursion. A ported 8 never makes sense when you have room for a larger OD sub bc of port length. Due to the necessary port area for the given box volume an enclosure for an 8 almost always ends up being larger than an enclosure for a 10
