Just received one of Rick's xcons (formerly rick's:) The man is a stand up guy, sold me a great product at a fair price, and really went the extra mile to help me out, from extra packing to help tracking down the other sub when only one showed up today (not at all ricks fault. somehow they managed to ship one to california and one to salt lake) Got one today, the other is en route, should be here saturday. Rick has been great to work with every step of the way, can't give enough positive feedback about the experience.
  4. THIS^ Im very curious to your thoughts on this nem, I love my xcons but man you guys putting these evils in and raving about them has me thinking.... I am sure the XCONs ported get very nasty and please don't let my thoughts make you want something different. The biggest reason I wanted an Evil is it fit what I do for fun and I know it had to sound good because SSA would never sell a fart sub. Also a sub with EVIL on it has to be nasty!
  5. well i guess crossfire is the same as fi and AA too then right, your a fucking dipship. and you THINK YOU KNOW some shit you have no fucking clue about,... if you were as good as YOU THINK YOU ARE> teams would be approaching you. re evaluate your self worth. how about taking a step back and fucking LEARNING a thing or two, maybe then you wont sound so fucking foolish when you sit down at a keyboard
  6. Yeah, thats nasty. It will work but would not be up to my standards. Whoever recieved it should have refused it.
  7. Welcome to SSA. I am in Baltimore.
  8. THIS^ Im very curious to your thoughts on this nem, I love my xcons but man you guys putting these evils in and raving about them has me thinking....
  9. Sir are you saying this one Evil is more brutal than two Xcons? Damn, I've got to hear one!
  10. Great looking install bro!!! That sub looks seriously mean. J
  11. From the photo's, it appears to just be cosmetic damage from shipping.
  12. Tweeted and G+'ed the topic.
  13. Love a big centri blower. F1 on a small block = sex If all goes well this will be mine tomorrow
  14. Sexy sub! I love it. the box is fantastic also, great job with that.
  15. Sounds like someone needs a hug. Hahah good shyt..lol
  16. Its a five star audio 15 champion series. five star audio is a family owned cleveland ohio company, that started in 1990. I think it has a 3in vc, 700rms. phone number I believe.. to confirm specs. if it works, not sure.. 216 475-5868 edit: Five Star Audio 12 Champion Series Specs: 2200w max, 900w rms, Dual 4 ohm, 200oz. Magnet, 3" voice coil since its the same series probably the same specs.
  17. Here are various shots of my box build. I had been hearing many things about "Arauco" plywood so I decided to give it a shot. A bit shout out to the fellas at the Home Depot around the corner from my house. Those guys have always been cool about trimming the wood down to manageable sizes with their awesome panel saw. The goods: Another change up for me is using a nail gun instead of wood screws. This made it so much easier and quicker when being an army of one. The box coming together: Under this stack is the baffle being glued together. On a side note all that wood is for a project I said was going to be a quick one. Joke is on me, that wood has been sitting in the garage for a year. :\ Here is a shot of the baffle ready to go on the box. I though I'd give the box edges a little round over. Assembled box pics. A little shot of the terminal cups I made up for the box. Sub, meet box. Box, meet sub. Woot, woot! Box finished. This is officially my fastest box build. It took me a week of afternoons to pull this off. Hooray for me.
  18. I have been slacking HARD with these updates! lol But I've been working a lot. Quick update I suppose. New front stage has been insatlled with 2 db Drive Pro Audio 8"s in the doors and 2 db Drive Pro Audio 1" tweets in the dash. No pictures right now, wil get some soon. My boss let me get the shops 3Sixty.3 and put it in my car. Said He will just take it out my check when I start making some more money haha Mounted the 3Sixty.3 ontop my amp rack just to get a basic tune and setup down. Then moved below my amp rack to be hidden.
  19. A little blower whine is fine; something like this would drive me nucking futs though:

For the Icon, we wanted to bump up the motor strength with the new model, we could add a shorting ring down the road after sometime and modeling/testing etc. with an updated version. But it will only add more machining time and more cost to an already VERY costly to build driver in it's respective market segment, for factional gains in lowered inductance that customers have not shown any signs of wanting yet. The Evil plays so flat and clean as it stands, it does not need it. Side note, the Evil needs less juice to get up and rolling from the start then the Zcon.
  21. How is it compared to your dual XCON's? I know that it is a completely different setup but I'm curious.
  22. Maybe this will clear things up for the funky pup. 1 watt to a funky pup is like 10000000 watts to a DD Z. These are Chuck Norris’s choice, not for bass, but to replace the engines in all his WalkerTexasRangerMobile’s… 1 funky pup = 500 horses, 2 funky pups = 1500 horses, 3 funky pups = time travel. There was never an atomic bomb, there was 4 funky pups in a .25″ particle board sealed box. They stopped making funky pups because the warehouse they were stored was quickly shifting the earth’s magnetic field. As a result, most of the world’s funky pups are now stored in a secret underground warehouse below Santa Claus’s Elf sweatshop. Its not certain what exactly makes the funky pup’s so much better than everything that ever existed, but it is absolutely certain – THESE ARE THE BEST W00FERS EVER MADE BY MAN OR SPACE MONKEY!
  23. Great work man! Tuned in for sure. Excited to hear what you think. I can't believe something so beautiful can be deemed evil...or how something so evil can be so beautiful!
  24. I did play a little tonight and was suprised at how loud this thing is! The pressure was unreal at 3/4 volume!
  25. All the picture I have today, but tomorrow there will be more!
  26. This thread is full of......WOW just WOW. OP-These guys know their shit and if you will listen and follow the links they provide, not only will YOU be better at this sport, but your equipment/setup will be better. I promise you are in good hands. It got off to a rough start because of how you were coming off, but they are still willing to help you-TAKE IT! I even seen that a member on here offered TO COME TO YOU TO HELP! Where else on any forum can you find that? No where. And I know brutalbasser knows his shit, so if he is offering still, then TAKE IT! I am not shouting at you, I just want you to see those words. This is a great place to learn and hangout, and I would love to see you take the advice and take your build to the next level. Take some time to read and re-read what is being said and process it. Hope all works out for you and as stated this is not the site to be on for someone to just say "Hey go buy this amp and this wooooofer and you will be king of all deebeez" We don't play that. Solid advice and self teaching.....

Boy if that gasket were cleaned they would look like something I own.
  28. Pics you have all been waiting for!!!!!!
  29. Well metered the new N3's, first I metered with the D9's wired to 1ohm each. And it did this at 44Hz. The RE MT's wired to .5ohm per amp did a 157.7 after the deadener was added. Then I did this with each amp at .25ohm, still at 44Hz. The bottom amp kept protecting, so I know there is more to be had.
  30. you can call me an asshole, but dont call SSA assholes... not every one is as much or a prick as i am......
  31. As a guy who doesnt compete and really knows nothing about belonging to a Team in audio competition, my common sense tells me that someone worth the company giving special pricing to doesnt need to search out contact information....
  32. Not getting TEAM PRICING (since you already corrected me) is getting ripped off? Bingo $400 for a 1000 watt rms is absurd its ok tho I've seen my buddy's shops price list and see tbier cost map and retail its crazy how Much money some people make So SSA is ripping you off? I don't think so. I'm sure that AA/Fi will appreciate your buddy showing off his map pricing. If you don't want the retail store mark up, buy Fi not AA it's as simple as that.
  33. I am going to run mine in 2.8 cuft tuned to 32 Hz with 40 sqin of port.
  34. I've never really tried my hand at making a great sounding front stage, I usually buy a set of components and throw an amp at them. This time around I would really like to understand what makes up a great front stage and why. what about cone size, do you start with choosing a tweeter and then work your way down to the mid woofer? Help me better understand the things I don't know.
