  1. Hey guys, sorry it's been awhile. I took 6 weeks off of work and everything else to spend some time with our new little girl. On Monday, I signed into SSA for the first time in like a month. I'll be back around a little more now. I missed this place. Sofi is now six weeks old and doing well, in the hospital at the moment because of an unknown fever. Running 48 hour cultures to see what she's fighting. Thanks for being such an awesome group of people. Here's Sofi, enjoying a cool washcloth to fight that fever

Thanks guys, I was very interested in the 8k but From this first hands on experience.. I'm not too confident now.
  3. Some days my system sounds very impressive (to me) others I want to rip it all out.
  4. im running a 12inch icon at 1 ohm on a sd sax1200, ported at 32hz. im looking to upgrade for more output. the icon is amazing but i want to move a little more air. contemplating going to an xcon 12 or 15. i like the specs of the sundown x series also. i want something brutal! am i barking up the wrong tree with an xcon? do i have enough power to push one in a 15inch? lemme know what you guys think.
  5. Thats one precious baby!! Congrats!!

  11. sundown all day .... fuck a Direct Copy ... i mean DC
  12. You could recone it to a 15 and get more cone area. Saves you time, $$$, and having to ship if you were going to sell the ICON to get a new sub
  13. If your thinking about getting another icon you could get another 12, and later upgrade your amp
  14. Video the customer shot of a 153.8 run. It's a lot louder to the ear. Could be because it peaks SO LOW. http://youtu.be/ua5w9S3jLMM
  15. Had a meet up today. What was going to be 3-4 people turned into 15 vehicles meeting up and showing off their systems. Got the amps strapped and tuned properly. Managed to pull off a 154 in the kick at 38 hz and a 150 at 30 hz. A few things to point out: 1.) ZERO sound deadener on the roof. Theres deadener everywhere else, but the roof. 2.) Yes, the truck peaks at 38. Does a 150 at 30 hz also. It's a low end monster. 3.) Voltage is dropping down to 10.3-10.5 (SMD VM-1 is NOT ACCURATE from the cigarette lighter) Didn't manage to get any videos this time, but I will next time I see him. He's calling Mechman soon to order a second alt (probably a 380 or bigger to go along with his 270), and a couple of more XS batteries. Customer is ecstatic about everything, and absolutely loves how it sounds. The entire truck just shakes on the low notes.
  16. In this case, advice falling on deaf ears is two-fold... OP: Hook all your stuff up, if it sounds good to you, go with it...
  17. The RMS rating of the drivers has nothing to do with output or matching, at all... I would start simple with a single 2-way up front. Get that right and move on from there. I wouldn't even mess with the sub stage until you get the 2-way sounding right...
  18. Nice Truck ! All your builds are top notch !
  19. 3% is absolutely unacceptable, I'm sure your ears can pick up the difference... I was unaware people did "clamp tests" to measure the possible measure of power that can audibly be heard as a difference compared to the rating on the box. IF that were true, then clamp tests would be the best method. That means as along as the 9,600w amp can do +/- 2,000w, then it's fine. That's your implication. Seems irrational to me. I was being sarcastic more than anything else. The 3% that his test was off from the manufacturer's test seems very acceptable to me. 3% is 300 watts which isn't very likely to make much of a difference even on a termlab. I also understand the concern that you guys have, but there's really no application of a 12v amplifier that requires the precision of the power output number to be higher than this.
