  1. I had four 15' Xcons in my last install..... you could feel the bass for almost 3 blocks away and they DESTROYED my Ford Windstar... those things hit HARD
  2. mmmm xcons, you will love them in any alignment
  3. 2 points
I've stayed out of this until now. This is ridiculous. PERIOD. I understand the rep feature is in place because it's favorable on other types of social media and that is the ONLY reason the software provider has coded it into the forum. Here it serves absolutely NO purpose other than to stir shit. Nothing else. Most people here, come here for no BS, and to get THE best advice. We don't need a rep system to alert people of bullshit or bullshitters. They are easily and readily seen and called out. Billy Jack,I am going to give you some advice. I was once in your shoes, in fact you may be able to find some of my initial posts from when I first joined here to prove it. Perception is reality. You may think you are right, you may FEEL you are right. You may be right. . . . BUT when everyone else perceives you as wrong, you are wrong. You talk about M5's comments on subjective topics. Unfortunately, it is your own subjectivity which denies you the ability to look at things objectively and see things from an open mind perspective. You may be passionate, you my be educated, you may be correct, you may even be one hell of a cool guy, but you carry yourself all wrong, and for that reason, you have ZERO credibility. Aaron, this is your forum, and you do as you please, but the rep system, IMO, is childish and not needed here. I will comment no further.
  4. I'm dying to order an Xcon 18 but my Mountaineer keeps begging for attention, differential, power steering, trans fluid needs to be flushed, egr is sheared, the list goes on >:[ I understand the subjective nature of the question, but I've never owned SQ oriented woofers before, except for my IDQ15's that is. Is that the same clean clear effortless bass I can look forward to with an Xcon, but with more oomph behind it? I love the ID's but they don't get loud at all. Exceptional for HT use though =] I've wanted an SSA woofer since the original blue cap icon, and by god the wait is killing me this year! Daydreaming helps the time pass. I'm not sure if I think about anything more than my next audio adventure. I wonder if I could get an original Icon cap on my xcon o.o
  5. The eye of Sauron!!!
  6. I am open, but it depends on if we need to make a huge order of motor builds. Side note, the Gcon is not far at all from the original Icon.
  7. Shoot Who am I kidding, i'm not any less excited though. I can almost taste it. Err....ummm....
  8. Had to install two wireless repeaters for the Wi-Fi to extend to the entire house. Just glad everything "important" on the home network is hardwired. Ethernet <3
  9. Speed and "features", mostly. I'm partial to routers that can be converted over to the DD-WRT firmware myself. A lot more flexibility and customization, akin to rooting an Android device or jailbreaking an iPod/iPhone. Personally, I've never had good experiences with D-Link or Netgear networking products, never had problems with Linksys products, and wasn't even aware Asus made networking equipment.
  10. All of the warm fuzzies from the Xcon love!
  11. Danm dude, Would think you are in Colorado If I didnt know better. Pine tree covered mountains and rocks everywhere. Thanks for posting the pics!!
  12. I joined in 2012 but didn't get an XCON until this year... and couldn't be happier. It really was worth the wait for me. If you're struggling financially get one 18" and worry about getting another later. When you get a second (and you know you will ) you can sell your enclosure to help recoup some of the money spent on the new box. Just be careful when selecting the impedance of the first sub you buy, you don't want to be running 4 ohm or .5 ohm daily...
  13. Nothing special about the IDQ. You'll love the Xcon. If you buy two, why not port the pair?
  14. I am supprised the Kerf didn't split with the direction of the grain.... it would bend a bit easier with the outside grain going horizontal.. still a nice build though
  15. Thanks Trevor! Your advice a long time ago to try these out was the best piece of advice you ever gave me on a subwoofer. These icons are why I proudly represented SSA everywhere I ever went. If I had another chance to buy this identical model brand new I would do a build with 4 of these and do shows again.
  16. In it's new home! But it's lonely...lol
  17. Meh we are all here stroking our own egos, you are just amplifying it to a degree that is disrupting the herd. I gave that fly on the wall perspective so you will see why his brash personality is tolerated And advice is respected here. Not to mention the guy is willing to help others, and has continued to help you. The reason I give my opinion because I hate to see someone bullied or struggle. You seem to be struggling here, and I would hope you're not making life this hard on yourself in other realms.
  18. Fuck dude, this is so simple. I understand that this is your first audio forum so I will say this for your information. What you do here by trying to point out mistakes, correct them, or to make them look bad to make yourself look better at someone else's expense is considered trolling on an audio forum. Plain and simple. What's worse is you're trolling moderators. Nothing good can come from you doing this. If a moderator gives wrong info, it will not be your fault and will not reflect on you in any way. Best thing to do is to leave him alone. I'm taking my time on my very busy Sunday to type all this shit just to help you out cause you seem like a cool dude. However you take it from here, "may the force be with you my brother" is all I can say.
  19. The xcon is amazing. Iv done a couple installs with xcons. Definitely wouldnt be disappointed. but I would forsure worry about your vehicle first. No point In Having an xcon if your vehicle brakes down
  20. It goes without saying that here on SSA we are adults and when our ideas are challenged we should look at it as an opportunity to convey our FACTS to support our claims instead of allowing it to deteriorate into an insult-fest. As we go through life we have plenty of opportunity to learn and improve ourselves. Therefore, no matter what kind of criticism is aimed at you, look at it from a third perspective and try to learn from it. We're not here to spoon feed you or tell you exactly what you want to hear, we're here to grow as a forum and better our community. Just because someone is attacking your ideals does not mean they are personally attacking YOU, You often need to step back and identify what is being said instead of applying what you think is being said. If another member has something negative or constructive to say, don't disregard their comments even if you don't have a high opinion of the person. Instead of shutting down, stay objective about what they are saying. Be prepared to ask follow-up questions during the conversation in order to prevent a bigger misunderstandings. Asking questions shows that you're willing to figure out a solution and that opens up a meaningful exchange that will lead to better understanding and even a learning opportunity yourself and for others.
  21. You're not realizing one major point here. Sean is a moderator. It's his job to watch over the forum and make sure correct information is given. Moderators are nice here. Do this bullshit on CACO, DIYMA, or SMD and you would get cut (banned) in no time flat. They do listen to reason here. You have to work with them, not against them. Sean gives reasoning to his post now. ALOT more than he use to. Also retyping what someone said is not quoting. You have to box the information you want to quote "as is" and post it that way. Can't show you, I'm on a phone at the moment.
  22. Billy Jack, honestly brother, you're going about this forum thing all wrong brother. It's very easy to get along with everyone here (including Speaker boy) if you go about this in a polite, understanding manner. First off, quit trying to point out everyone's so called mistakes. Especially moderators. Just by this alone your points will start going up. I can tell you more, but you have to read and comprehend. If you know ALOT, show it ... don't Bragg about it. This will loose everyone attention every time. Dude, I'm not bashing you. Seriously, I'm trying to help.
  23. I would be happy with it, if thats what your asking. With the transfer function of the car you should be right on point, and the sub should blend well with the mids. Youre gaining 6db output in the sweet spot, WITHOUT needing any additional power. Whats not to like about that?
  24. Without ANY? Not much... Not the right question. The question is how much are you willing to deal with and at what listening levels does it become acceptable. Exactly why I hinted above sometimes knowing sucks since everything is a compromise and now you get to pick it. Some people will tell you 10m/s others deal with 100m/s. In a car 10 is absurd, but 100 is always absurd. Go model both extremes at full power and you will see the variance it creates. You will also find out that it becomes prohibitive in a car to get anything super low (either tuning or port velocity)....but being in a car it is easy to chase a law of diminishing returns as well. ie, remember the easiest way to make your car sound better is to lower the noise floor of your car, not improve your stereo further.
  25. The biggest problem with doing what I described above is that now you will know you get to choose your port velocity. No matter your choice you get to live with it since you built it. If you don't like it later, you'll blame knowing...but of course you will know exactly how to fix it. I'd rather know and re-do than guess and re-do
