  1. I have noticed, as well as a few people have messaged me about it, abuse of the rep system. It is just a simple forum feature for people to have a little reaction to a singular post based on the content of that post, be it positive if it is a beneficial post or if you really like the content, or negative if it is detrimental or you really don't like the content. Not something to have a personal vendetta against another user to down vote every post of theirs. Personally, I feel it is ok to have both the positive and negative if the system is not going to abused. But, if it is going to continue to be abused, I will turn off the negative option and we can move to being like other forums where it has to be a safe place and we can't have any critical thinking.
  2. i think the rep system is nice however there can be instances of negative, negative feedback. i think we should follow a facebook like rep system that only recognizes positive reinforcement.
  3. Neal, should really flush mount those... As for tweeters, in the $30 range I'd probably lean on the XT25 from Peerless. Pretty sure Peerless still makes a $15 or so large format as well. The Dayton you linked underwhelmed me although the Usher made Dayton's are awesome.
  4. I would highly recommend having active capabilities to listen before building a passive. Nothing quite like trying many crossovers over and over before nailing the passive.
  5. I loved my 8 18 icons doing 157.9 at 36hz on 6500rms. Jay c and I are working on a project together and it may just be EVIL..........
  6. I would run a pair of 12" if they were the original design with the non sandwiched leads , black spiders ...only change I would want would be the higher rolling surround
  7. Still to this day I have never heard anything as clean as this version of the Icon. In the right enclosure these things are like ear sex & get unbelievably loud! My last metering with two 15's on 3500 rms was a 150db @ 32hz!
  8. I've stayed out of this until now. This is ridiculous. PERIOD. I understand the rep feature is in place because it's favorable on other types of social media and that is the ONLY reason the software provider has coded it into the forum. Here it serves absolutely NO purpose other than to stir shit. Nothing else. Most people here, come here for no BS, and to get THE best advice. We don't need a rep system to alert people of bullshit or bullshitters. They are easily and readily seen and called out. Billy Jack,I am going to give you some advice. I was once in your shoes, in fact you may be able to find some of my initial posts from when I first joined here to prove it. Perception is reality. You may think you are right, you may FEEL you are right. You may be right. . . . BUT when everyone else perceives you as wrong, you are wrong. You talk about M5's comments on subjective topics. Unfortunately, it is your own subjectivity which denies you the ability to look at things objectively and see things from an open mind perspective. You may be passionate, you my be educated, you may be correct, you may even be one hell of a cool guy, but you carry yourself all wrong, and for that reason, you have ZERO credibility. Aaron, this is your forum, and you do as you please, but the rep system, IMO, is childish and not needed here. I will comment no further.
  9. I deal with people all day and the ones that show your level of frustration, generally have a preconceived notion of the way they see things going. In my opinion you are making life hard on yourself by not being flexible and open minded.
  10. Try to let stuff roll. Nobody will think you are a bitch because you choose not to argue. Do research to find out why or how you maybe wrong. Just because one person says it on the internet does not make it gospel. Wikipedia is full of senseless bullshit for example. Just because it's posted somewhere doesn't make it fact. If someone doesn't like what you do or how you do it, it's up to you to show your character on how you handle it. Try ignoring it. A wise man once said, "It's better to keep your mouth shut and make them believe that you are ignorant, than to open your mouth & remove all doubt." Look it up.
  11. Fuck dude, this is so simple. I understand that this is your first audio forum so I will say this for your information. What you do here by trying to point out mistakes, correct them, or to make them look bad to make yourself look better at someone else's expense is considered trolling on an audio forum. Plain and simple. What's worse is you're trolling moderators. Nothing good can come from you doing this. If a moderator gives wrong info, it will not be your fault and will not reflect on you in any way. Best thing to do is to leave him alone. I'm taking my time on my very busy Sunday to type all this shit just to help you out cause you seem like a cool dude. However you take it from here, "may the force be with you my brother" is all I can say.
  12. It is pretty easy to have nice pictures. I'd personally have a discussion with the place and check their recommendations before doing anything with anyone. Most of us have a hard time paying for the install though as it regularly costs as much as the equipment.
  13. yes, won't work out for you.
