  1. I would take an LI (which I have) over a type r any day. If you want more output get the death row or the death penalty. If you want more sq, get the flatlyne. This is not to say that the other lines don't have decent sq though, they are pretty good. If you look in the incriminator part of the forum you can find a video of my LI 12" in action if you are interested.

    Great place, I highly recommend!
  3. Yeah it's definitely the better option in the long run. I did the same thing pretty much, I just gave my old head unit to my girlfriend.
  4. This same exact thing happened to me, but it was a pioneer. I'm guessing it is probably the same problem, some type of internal fuse that was fried when current tried to go through the rcas from your power terminals. This may be the same case for the original poster, the rca might have touched something while you were moving things around. Try grounding the rcas. I did this, it was a temporary fix until I got a new h/u, but it did work. I bought a few rca couplers from radioshack (like these Male Female , hopefully you can find a cheaper place. I didn't want to modify my rca's directly, but you can if you want. I also picked up some small inline fuses, so if it happened again my h/u wouldn't fry. I soldered a wire from the outer part of the rca to the fuse holder. You could then solder on another wire and attach a ring terminal and ground it (I did it to the h/u chassis). Then I just plugged the couplers in the back of the h/u, then the rcas into the couplers. Voila, the noise disappeared. There is always the option of buying a new unit as well if this doesn't work or whatever. I hope this helps!
  5. Nice review man! I'm looking forward to picking up a pair of these!
  6. You could try one of these Stinger Amplifier Pop Stopper I used to have this problem because I wired the remote wire inline with the switched head unit power because for whatever reason the remote cable wasn't working on the HU. Eventually it just kind of went away, I'm not sure why. Good Luck
  7. Ah, sorry I didn't notice that, I totally forgot to look there. Thanks for the advice, I am leaning towards the XCON's now. It's so hard to choose when I can't hear a direct comparison lol.
  8. That sucks that he won't ship them at all. I wish you could get those, two 15" LI's would be sweet!!
  9. Well I was planning on getting 2 btw I meant to mention that. I figured the 3500D would be a good match for two of either of the subs, but I'm open to get something smaller if it's recommended. What tuning did you choose on your DP's? I was thinking probably like 32 hz for either setup.
  10. Hi- This is for a daily driver, listening to all types of music. Amp will be a Sundown 3500D. I'm trying to decide on my new setup. I'm kind of on the fence between a Death Penalty or an SSA Xcon 15". My main concern is the flatness of the frequency response on the DP. Is it comparable to the Xcon? From what I've read the Xcon has a very flat frequency response, which is why I am considering it. I've been dreaming of getting DP's for a while now, but I may have to get Xcon's if they would sound better for music. Please let me know, Thanks all.
  11. Haha, thanks! I think it's pretty beastly for a single 12"!
  12. Thanks! Yeah it's such a great woofer for the price, I couldn't be more pleased. Thanks for noticing the port color as well lol, it reminds me of construction equipment haha.
  13. Hi- So I finally took a video of my set up. It's a Lethal Injection 12" in a 2.5 ft^3 enclosure tuned to 32 hz on a Rockford Fosgate Punch 500-2 amp. Sorry the camera and my filming skills suck lol. Some day a pair of death penalties will be going in.
  14. Search for f mods, they are about 25 dollars and they go in line with your rcas. They have varying f mods depending on the frequency you need.
  15. You could try a ground loop isolator, some people have luck with those. I've had this problem pretty bad before, I had to replace my head unit because I had a blown pico fuse in my pioneer, I'm not sure if Kenwoods use the same type of fuses on the rcas, just a thought. Also, somewhere along the line my antenna's ground got messed up, and it fixed my whine when I disconnected it. It's just strange that you are only getting this on your highs/mids amp. Try disconnecting the rcas from the h/u and turning the car/amp on to see if the noise is there, if it is then it is probably something with the cables, if it's only there when they are connected to the h/u then it is probably something with the h/u or something connecting to the h/u. Also, make sure to put something over the rca's so they don't make contact with anything while you do this. I hope this helps narrow down your problem.

I'm going to fabricate 2 boxes on the rear deck temporarily until I have the time/money/materials to make custom door panels. I'll post some pictures sometime whenever I can get to it (unfortunately it seems to be far away...)

Actually, thanks I would like to know as well.
  18. ulrisa replied to ulrisa's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Ah ok. Thanks. I'll definitely be doing that in the future then. I don't have anything right now, so it's a bit much to do right away. Not having money sucks. lol.

Even if I do it myself? Damn that is a lot.

Thanks everyone! I'd like to retain the 5.25's in the front right now, but later on I plan on making a fiberglass door panel for the 5.25's, and 2 mli-65's in each door. I didn't realize it made that much of a difference having them up front. Unfortunately I am in college and I am poor lol, I think I am going to have to use some of the mdf I have laying around to make the box I described. I've never actually fiberglassed something like that before, anyone know how much (in general) that would set me back?
  21. ulrisa replied to ulrisa's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I'd love to, but my car only has holes for 5.25 speakers. I have some rf power 5.25's in the front and it's not nearly enough.

Hi- I am going to add a little midbass to my ride (it doesn't really have any atm). I am going to buy 4 MLI-65 midbass woofers. I am going to make a sealed enclosure for all 4 for the rear deck. Any recommendations on how big this should be? Thanks.
  23. The two posts I started were not directly related at first. I was only asking about efficiency on the other one, but this question was answered in the end. I'll keep the batteries and the alt sizes in mind. Thanks.
  24. That's awesome. I already have those in the car, so it looks like I shouldn't have to worry about it as much as I thought I would. Thanks, you've been very helpful.
