  1. If it is that big of a concern you should design an enclosure without any parallel walls and internally made of constrained layer materials (dampening sort of). This will greatly improve sound (not output!) over a standard 6 wall rectangular/square enclosure made of MDF.
  2. Looks like PG is back at it. All their marketing hype turns me away though. I like the creative photography in their catalog
  3. If you have good wire with uninterrupted runs and good grounds you should have a solid setup with a good starting battery and a good auxiliary battery with the engine running. I have a strong feeling that you have too many batteries sucking the life out of your alternator. Disconnect all the batteries and check resting voltage. Are they all good? What batteries do you have? All AGM? Same brand? What size batteries do you have? Run a good AGM battery up front and one AGM auxiliary battery mounted near the amplifiers. How is voltage now?
  4. I use a common ground for audio electronics->the battery or a ground lead going to the battery. The factory ground location is known to be a poor ground choice BUT is commonly used. Hahaha
  5. I highly recommend you take the time to research enclosure design and build the enclosure yourself. It will be very rewarding if done correctly. If not Argent Audio makes nice custom enclosures.
  6. Nice collection jj1479
  7. If the amplidiers output RCA was "pass thru" then the signal would be unaltered. Bandpass in bandpass out. The second amp would receive the same signal as the first.
  8. Send me some banana nut bread!
  9. That is only due to lack of setting things up equally. I completely disagree and so will 99% of other audiophiles. The best amplifiers are ones that only amplify the input signal without adding any tonal color. GL with that because this is subjective. Has anyone ever proved that a certain amp gives a tonal color to the amplified sound? I have never seen a article where they test amps and see a difference in tonal color... Except just people telling that amps do add a tonal color.( probably just to justify the amount of money they spend on a amp.) That is why I finished my statement with "subjective". Take a 50w Walmart amp a 50w ZED amp and a vintage 50w McIntosh tube amp. Can you measure timbre? I do not think so but you could hear it. Take for instance the $110 Boss REV-665. Over on diyma guys have said it "sounded" better than a $1400 Zapco, subjective.

  11. Check with XS Power. I believe their standard is reverse of OEM. They make "R" batteries that are designed for OEM use. Check with XS Power to verify, Nathan is helpful.
  12. Looks like all ZED built Boss Audio amplifiers use large single sided boards with lots of jumpers. The quality "looks" nice but cheap. Only expect half of it's rated power max but clean sound.
  13. This is a serious build, I love it.
  14. Why didn't you relocate your emergency brake? Good job keeping your wiring tidy.
  15. I also started my hidden H/U install. It is going well and will be bad ass! My goal with this is to have it hidden and not to dramatically alter the interior. So far so good. I have tons of work to do on this yet. I will be happy when it is installed
  16. I was able to work on the install yesterday and today My time is very limited so I am happy to of had these two days to get chit done! I finally got the 1/0 runs into the trunk. I was freak'n determined not to run them in the cabin. I ended up going from the starting battery back down the firewall into the frame just behind the front wheel and out of the frame just in front of the rear tire and into the trunk. It was a real PITA to say the least. My goal for the 1/0 runs: 1. not have any wire under the lowest nearby point of the car 2. not have the wire rubbing against any moving parts like the suspension 3. have the wire 100% secured I turned out very well but like I said it was a PITA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only aspect of this that I do not like is that the two 1/0 runs are very near the front sway bar. The sway bar twists slightly during suspension travel. Both wires are about 1/8"-3/8" from the sway bar. I will be checking the install daily for a week or so and then every 3000 miles when I do routine maintenance. This picture shows the 1/0 runs to the trunk from under the hood. I do not have the +1/0 run to the trunk connected at the starting battery. I need to mock up a battery box for the trunk and I am awaiting 250A fuses. Unfortunately I did not compose this picture well enough to show the detail I wanted. This picture shows the 1/0 runs entering the frame rail from just behind the front wheel. 1/0 runs coming out of the frame rail just in front of the rear wheel. Here you can see the wires secured to the frame/body. 1/0 runs entering the trunk. I will also have a -1/0 run coming from the rear battery and bolted to the frame rail in this location. 1/0 runs in the trunk I crimped a terminal to the +1/0 to have something to pull it through the frame rail with. The terminal will be cut off when I secure it to a fuse holder.
  17. It might be worth looking into. I would get a hold of a box builder and see what is recommended. Just my $.02, good luck.
  18. 10" in an optimal box will kill a 12" in a box too small Thanks for the quick reply. I'm still not sure I could even fit the 12" small ported through the trunk opening. Cardboard mock-up still leaves me unsure. Going with the 10" will make my life a lot easier anyway. I'd still be able to get to my spare without to much trouble. If SPL is a big concern I would try to mock up a 12 in optimal ported cf with an external aero port.External port means that you do not subtract port volume in the enclosure design therefor making the enclosure smaller.
  19. That's a chitty way to start the new year. I wish somebody would total my Hyundai lol.

The post above yours, he states how he works part time Hard to believe. PT's don't pay chit. Doesn't matter to me, nice equipment.
  21. Definitely check your RCA's with a DVM.
  22. You could do an external port on the 12
