Group Buy on a Zed Built Boss Audio REV-665
Got my Boss today. For on the cheap, it is a nice amp no doubt. The Plexi panel with the screen print is cheesy really takes away from the build quality which appears to be very good for this price.

help on sub $800 system for 34 chevy sedan
There is a lot of information about the vehicle that need to be know for the best recommendation. But based on the information you had given : Check out classic looking CD players here You could use the HU's amplified power to run coaxial or a component set. Weather you go with coaxials or components will depend on your mounting requirements and what you can afford. A simple solution for added low end sound would be a Bazooka bass tube. They come with built in a amplifiers and can be easily be mounted without modifying the existing interior of the vehicle. Just some ideas

Chevy Cavalier 04 Audio System Build Log
Some people believe everything they read and see on the internet. Alternator failure can not be directly caused by a blown fuse. If anything it protects it. If you overload your alternstor and/or charge wire this may cause a fire or alternator failure. Worse case scenario you blow a fuse and drain your battery (an onboard volt meter would indicate a blown fuse due to reduced voltage giving you notification to prevent battery drainage). That is easily fixable. Vehicle fire and battery explosions can be fatal. Don't believe me, research it yourself. There are too many "false truths" on internet forums. Please educate yourself from numerous reputable sources!

Chevy Cavalier 04 Audio System Build Log
As long as you do it right then there is no need for one really, the fuse just protects the wire in case of a fire or if you get an accident and the wire gets damaged causing all kinds of problems. Its a safety precaution some take, while others dont but not needed. In this instance the fuse protects the BATTERY which is mandatory. Some say seatbelts are not necessary as well........

The manual that came with your JL Audio amplifiers should explain proper setup and help clarify some of the questions you have. Spend some time searching in google as well!

First Post, Possible Setup
I recommend to avoid the stock door panel location for mounting your speakers. You can spend $100's for a high end component set and still have poor imaging and reduced sound quality by mounting your speakers in the doors. Furthermore mounting your tweeters 3 feet away from the midrange will not help staging (it could work) For you situation, your vehicle, budget and goals I recommend kick panel mounted components. Q-Logic makes prefabbed kick panels specifically for your vehicle. They also come color matched to your stock interior color. This will give you better staging and better sound quality then door mounted (dropped into factory holes) speakers. The kick panels accept a 5.25" component set. With proper setup you could even run an 8" woofed in your door for added midbass. http://www.qlogicdirect.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=222_223_2438_2451_2459&products_id=80&zenid=e8515b37c0970b76ae5de968c213905d

Grounding to body instead of frame.
Did you actually measure a voltage decrease anywhere in your setup? I would check for ground resistance at various locations on the frame and voltage at the amps. You possibly do not have any issues. Your best bet, if you have a voltage decrease due to grounding, is to double up on your ground wire to frame.

XS Power recommened isolator/relay
Okay, thanks for the fast reply.

XS Power recommened isolator/relay
Added protection mainly. Both batteries will be exposed to a different temperature and charging rates and from my semi(barely) educated opinion I believe a relay type isolator is worthwhile to smooth this out. When the vehicle is on the alternator can handle the balancing issues rather then letting the batteries balance out when the vehicle is off. Also, if one battery fails for whatever mechanical reason the other battery will not be taken down with it. Just good measure in my opinion.
