  1. Yes, and they can be had for less than that I believe. And they are designed to be used in small ported boxes. But, those things love some power. I'd go with 2 12" Xcon's, or BL's, or either a 18" SMD. But honestly, 2 12s seems more practical to me.
  2. Actually, Higher voltage and lower impedance can cause more problems because it could cause the parts to go past its limit. You hear about to low of voltage being bad, but same can apply for to high. Take a set of power supply/output MOSFET, they are rated for a certain voltage and current, and watts. Increasing input voltage, and lower impedance, can cause these parts to hit their max and fail. But I see what you was saying, people say don't run your amp below 1ohm unless you have a good electrical. But to a point, to much voltage could be a problem. Even though most quality amps these days are over built as much as possible without going way overboard to drive cost for no real benefit.
  3. I kind of want a 3500. Damn, I need something to trade. Is there anything you need I might have? I got a lot of shit laying around.
  4. If you think it's worth the money, go for it. I think for the money, there's better out there. With that said, I've always wanted to try one. And I think there is this sexiness about them. None the less, I'm not paying over a grand to try it.
  5. Troy had the first gen BTL's actually.
  6. I didn't exactly mean "punch", hense why I put the quotations.
  7. A Havoc isn't going to have super loud punchy bass, because its designed to blend well into your front stage. I'm sure if you tuned in the 40hz range it'll become much more "punchy", but then you lose your low end.
  8. I really like the first Bike. I want a choppa one day, but I'm damn picky, and don't want to spend 50k, I don't know if it'll happen.
  9. Troy is in South Carolina, not North. Just to clear that up.
  10. Actually Sir-Lancelot has gotten a bracket from him a few months ago, but it was picked up. Not that it matters any, just saying.
  11. Doesn't size matter? Lol
  12. Couldn't be any more ignorant Sure it could. And I can't imagine you thinking anything is ignorant, especially when most of your posts are that way.
  13. 148s on a Epic 160 and its .2 dB off from a new Termlab? I never thought they was that close, one reason usually Epics are mounted in the middle of your dash, and unless measured from the exact place as the Epic in your install, you have no idea how close you really was. Likes me going to the dragstrip running my F-250, and I get a 14.5. Then a guy in a Camaro runs the same time, and has dynoed 300hp. And then me thinking my truck has to be around that HP cause I ran the same time as he did. But a solution for your recone problem, my buddy bought some VFL's from a guy who had em Reconed by Sundown, so u might could try them? Just a suggestion. I know two 12s couldn't handle a Sundown 3500d, cause that's what he had.
  14. No, as discussed in your own thread you cannot make any sub into a Fi sub, they do not have foreign parts, as they are completely American made. If you are able to recone them, you have NO idea how they would perform. If I'm not mistaken, the VFL's are made by Atomic(forgot the buildhouse name.), which use to be assembled here. If I got models right, a VFL use to be similar to a Atomic APXX(2.5in coil) but VFL had a 3inch. From what I remember they didn't hardly like anything over 2kw. They would handle 4kw for a burp I'd assume but not daily, regardless the softparts. But hell this has been years ago, so no telling if I'm talking about the same sub or not. Unless pics are posted.
  15. Maybe instead of the spring, use the ones you screw tight onto the wire. I looked at my Parts Express catalog and they call them Binding posts. Spades wouldn't be the worst thing though. But don't they make smaller spring terminals? I'd assume those cost more than big ones though.
  16. At one point they did offer Recones for various other subs, I'm not sure if they still do. Best to list the exact series of the 9500, like F,G,H or ect. If its a G or H, or has the new style basket, they use a different size spider than Fi does(If I recall correctly) Also, if your looking to keep the known DD sound, you need to go back with DD softparts.
  17. Sweeeeeeet. Just what I needed!
  18. Why did you go with the stock coil over the HiXmax?
  19. What are those amps out of the box? I wish I had monies, I want a 100.4. You got any broke repairable amps laying around? I'm sure you probably don't have any Sundowns, but others?
  20. Jake, I think you should send me this sub in a 18in and a NS-1 to test. I'll pay shipping.
  21. Since Fi basically has one of the cheapest prices out there, for the product they offer, even with a little increase, its still cheaper than any other USA made sub. I mean I hate to see a increase, because I was planning on buying one in a month or two, but still, its worth every penny.
  22. I'm sure they hated to raise the price, but you can't expect them to build them for very little profit.
  23. 3" coil...completely different design. The old X and this sub does share similar physical appearance, so I can see where the guy was coming from. And being the old X was a 300RMS(I think?) and this being a 600RMS, obviously it can't be the "same" driver. Even though I think the X had a smaller diameter motor too, still from a distance, it could remind somebody of it. Actually seems more like if the old X and old SSD had a baby, this would be it.(Appearance wise*)
  24. Damn, I didn't even figure in the magnetic field.
  25. Only two? That's all anybody needs. Think about it, 1 does 152dB, so 2 has to do 304deeBeez. Come on man, you should know this. Lol.
