Class d amps that do not have filters to filter the higher switching frequencies use the inductance of the driver to filter them causing the coil to heat faster. This is a common problem in cheap Korean amps that don't have sufficient filtering. This causes inductance heating that normally causes coils to fail.

The icon or xcon drivers would be suitable subs. I assume the box is jl's recommended specs? So it's more than likely tuned low, under 30 hertz. The w6 is designed to produce a flat response in smaller enclosures. If you use the same enclosure you will get a little peakier response with the icon or xcon but I don't think it would be a bad thing being you are also looking for output as well

There are new wires from the from to the back. The wires are tapped into the factory harness running to the amp. If they ran completely new wire to each door you would mire than likely complain about a 250 dollar amp install.

The auto calculate is a nice feature but when modeling high xmax high BL subs it can be off a good bit. And I'm comparing its calculated results from Klippel results.
