  1. I use a butane Iron and hold it in my teeth. A little tape on the end. Leaves both hands free, and no need to set anything up. I've soldered hundreds connectors and I've learned to do it best that way.
  2. This video is just goody.
  3. If the JVC isn't a nav unit, you are going to lose Navigation functionality. You may be able to use the factory Nav antenna if it's there. The only time I've seen Nav work with a new head unit is when nav was completely separate from the radio. IE like on an Infinity G35. As for steering wheel controls, you need a steering wheel control interface. PAC audio makes a couple of them. Probably cost you 75 bucks at least.
  4. I do this all the time. like mentioned, it's a lot more work that customers don't want to pay for. And like mentioned, getting wires through door grommets can be near impossible with some vehicles that use molex connectors. But if there's a will, there's a way.
  5. I know massive Audio makes a 5 channel with 800wrms on the sub channel, but no idea about the overall quality of the product, or even if those numbers are inflated.
  6. Right around your price range and a solid amplifier. http://www.woofersetc.com/p-6249-mrp-m500-alpine-mono-500w-subwoofer-amplifier.aspx This has been a super reliable amp and have had nothing but praises about it. It's a little more power than your subs are rated for, but this will give you some extra headroom, you just have to be careful with the extra power.
  7. The Kenwood is a nice unit. We sell tons of Kenwood excelon, with very very little problems. It has taken over Alpine as our best selling brand of radios, but Alpine hasn't been doing anything right lately it seems. No experience with the Pioneer unit however. It looks like a really nice unit however. Either way I am sure you'll have good results.
  8. Happy Birthday
  9. They are both good speakers. I've installed both in customers vehicles and they both get loud and sound good. The XTR is definitely a bit beefier than the w3 but that doesn't mean the JL is by any means bad. I don't know the price point of what you're looking at either for any of these speakers. There may be better options for a the price or the Orions or JL might be right on par with what you need.
  10. Who had Funky Pup Dustcaps. I could use a couple of those.
  11. I literally said out loud, "holy fucking, motherfucker" That is seriously one beastly 8" driver
  12. Sorry to see SS go. Always wanted an RL-i8. Good luck with the brewery business though. What kind of beers are planning brewing? It you do some pale ales or IPA, I'll be all over that. Any possibilities of selling in MN?
  13. Record Store
  14. I've used them a few times. Mostly used them as factory sub replacement in Fords. I have a single one in myt rear dash. works well for a little bottom end fill but doesn't get loud. Be interested to see how they do ported.
  15. Nice! I admittedly like the Skrillex remix better though.
  16. Awesome to see her back! I always loved your TC.
  17. Seeing Pretty Lights In October! Might see Tiesto in September. Saw Skrillex at the beginning of July! Epic! I've been uber into electronic music lately. The Flux Pavilion remix song is GREAT http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2vWQFHP3D0 Another cool Video I saw. 17 year old kid who goes by Madeon making some great music.
  18. Holy Wow. Great Job. I could only with to have the enginuity to pull something like that off.
  19. Good luck! Hope he is playing fetch and peeing on fire hydrants in no time!
  20. LOL. It couldn't have been anything else right? No, it could have been. But that is the best example I have. As NOTHING else was changed. I am certain they use better materials in higher end RCA's as well. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the important part of RCAs are all going to be made from copper, lead/tin solder, and brass or gold for the connector. Besides that some rubber, composite or plastic casing.
