"breaking in" is the spiders and surround getting looser, which will increase the low end output a little. You can put it's RMS to it right out of the box (in the right enclosure), no need to give it 1/2 rms, then 3/4 then full or whatever the hell it is people do.
  2. Ordered a xs power 5100, realized my mistake and let Aaron know about it. I needed reverse polarity, and he promptly corrected my mistake and everything went smooth as silk. Happy first time customer, and look forward to more purchases in the future. SSA rocks.
  3. If you're talking about the 3rd video posted, that's not Lancelot's truck, it's Will's. Seen here http://www.youtube.com/user/tuffguy40
  4. Def. a 5 star build. Don't know how I haven't rated it yet(top right corner of the page). Watching for updates.
  5. Jealous of your wire skills. Are you taking orders on custom RCA lengths? Love seeing updates on this build. Pristine work. Keep it up!
  6. Mail a poster?
  7. I've heard a lot of good about mechman. Should be able to do you proper.
  8. Wow, water looks amazing. Love that color, reminds me of Hawaii. Just a BIT different temp. though haha Would be a tough call if i would have jumpped in the lake if i was in your shoes at 15... Who am i kidding?

Wow i wont be 21 for a couple months, and i cant even comprehend spending 15k on something. 5k is daunting for me lol Props on the ballsy move!
  11. So you have the amp, but still wont give the money back 'till ups responds? What would you lose giving his money back right now? you have your amp... Even if it is blown, eat the repair costs and get this resolved correctly. The guy is out 400 dollars right now, and you have both. Quite easy to send him HIS money back.

The tuning of the box wont determine what your truck with peak at, not at that low of a tuning, will it? I would see if you were tuned above your peak freq (considering you already know that number from previous builds) it would change your peak tone, right?
  15. I dont know what to think about all that... What is happening in there? lol
  16. i would spend the extra hundred or so dollars for a company that has a positive reputation and a known name that makes solid equipment. DC or mechman is the route i'll be going.

Wow, that's funny for a 200 dolla' sub. See if Fi can do you some service.
  18. is the tuning not relevant to the question? OP might want to post that before you make a decision.
  19. Assuming everything sold online is crap? I don't know where you got the idea that running at 1 ohm is bad. What you wire your subs to wont determine how long they will last. What does hurt your equipment is when your electrical cant support a lower resistance, which sends a low voltage to the amps and causes all sorts of problems for everything in line. So having your amp wired at 1 ohm wont cause damage, it's when people push their electrical too hard (assuming the amp is rated for the resistance used, and tuned correctly). I've got my subs at .5 ohm, and everything has worked fine for the last couple months. You just have to know when too much is too much for your specific application. To go off of that i had my first system put in by the local shop. The amp lasted about a month or 2 because the shop had the gain to the max and the bass boost turned up. I had no idea about any of this and expected that they did (obviously not). It wasn't the equipment's fault, but my ignorance and the installer's. When you pay them good money (i think it was close to 175 to install deck, wires, and subs/amp) they should be able to tune the amp correctly. After that i bought an amp online for a deal, and when i did have a problem with it they swapped me a new one no questions asked. I was happy, and learned something. It all depends on which shop you frequent and the sites you go to. Either place can screw you over, or give you great CS. That shop also tried to sell me 35$ Streetwires rca when i asked for their cheapest RCA cable. They don't deal with "crap wire". Like it really matters with RCAs lol
  20. Look forward to your BTL build!
  21. Are you going to show him up? lol I plan to make the man tap out. If not watch his face cringe. =P Never herd of BTLs and his idea of an spl sub is a W7 hes in for a rude awakening. Very nice haha be sure to make a video of his reaction. i want to see it, for sure.
  22. Are you going to show him up? lol
