No not a stupid idea at all! Do a search and Sundown amplifiers have been apart of quite a few "SQ" wins!

Always going to be people to say they can do better and such, but in the end if the end result makes you happy who gives a damn?

I agree completely, with SQ it's all based on some guys opinion, there is none (yet) that says "This car had reproduced music better than another car". If someone says to me "Damn! You're setup sounds like shit you need this, this, and this!" I'll either 1. Take it into consideration or 2. Say "shut the hell up". SQ and SPL are two different monsters in themselves, us SPL guys have the TL. We can say, for a fact "My setup is louder than yours" but, with SQ we have someone with "trained ears" saying "oh, this music is better reproduced by this vehicle than yours"

Unless the SQ competition format changes I'm not that interested to be honest.

When you can win a "Sound Quality" competition by having more screws turned the same way than the other guy... it ceases to be a "Sound Quality" competition.

I agree with Jacob. We (SSAudio) are not opposed to SQ competitors at all, but as long as there are appearance and subjective scoring categories, it is hard to really put much of any value in SQ competitions. As of recent, there has been too much arrogance and psychoacoustics in "SQ" competitions.

I agree with Jake and Aaron as my ears are the judge & jury as to whether my system is sound quality. I build my system for me and me only.

A good SQ guy can make almost anything sound good, SO it sounds like the a$$holes you where talking to had no clue and just think that the most expensive epuipment will sound best. Pay no attention to people like this, thier opinions don't mean shiiiiiit.
