Newb here. Looking for some input from the more knowledgeable. So i can conclude on amplifier choice.

Desiring to put a Gcon 15 sealed in the trunk of my Jetta. I have approximately 2.88cuft to work with.

So now my question is; what rms power would be better for daily use 820 or 930?

I listen to mainly hip hop and electronic types of music. Occasional rock and jazz.

Please let me know if any other info needed and thanks for your help.

Mark

Why are you comparing those two numbers? There won't be a difference in output between the two.

I was more concerned in the longevity of the woofer and not over doing it. If that is not a concern, then i suppose i should go with the larger amplifier for more head room. Just would like to do things correct the first time and be 100% satisfied.

Thnx.

Either one you choose will be fine. The only way that you will have a problem is if you set the gain too high. I would go with the cheaper of the two. Can you let us know what amps you are considering?

Both are SKAR amps 800.1 and 1500.1. .

If that is RMS rating, then I would go with the higher power amplifier.

Edit:

Just saw your posting.

I would suggest the 1500, simply because it leaves you room for additional growth if you ever decide to go that route.

Agreed, between the two the 1500 will be better.

Right on guys. Thanks for the input. I feel a more confident about things now. Appreciate your time.

May the music fulfill your days!

Cheers,

If your budget will allow, go with sundown amps.

Yeah the budget could handle the Sundown 1500 Quality that much better?

I would take the sundown way before the skar. The sundown will hold it's value better too.

in this scenario I would suggest the 1500 whether its Skar or Brokedown. just as sencheezy said it will leave room for growth later plus if you run it at 2 ohms it will run a lot better for daily and allow for sexitime

What VC did you choose for the sub ? Will you be able to run it at 1 or 2 Ohms ?

Maybe you could choose a 12" sub to run in a good ported box ? did you ever think about that ?

The 15" will like the sealed box, for sure. With a little more net volume it can play better.

I've decided to go with a dual 4 and run it at 2 ohm. So it looks to be a toss up between either 1500 (Skar or Sundown).

I've thought about ported, (even porting thru the rear deck), but at the same time i would like to keep things clean and simple. try not to hack the car up any and still have some usable trunk space to boot. However im not opposed to it. Had a sixth order port thru box about ten years ago that a guy built for me and it looked and sounded great, but took up 3/4 of my trunk. Now how much larger are you thinking 3.25 - 3.5???
