do you know what box size sealed and ported do the tempest-x like?

Check out the .pdf in the "information library" on the Tempest X page and it will show each of the sealed and ported designs for home audio. If it is for car audio then make changed accordingly.

What did you end up changing between these and the ones you blew out a few months back?

More mass and a softer suspension, primarily.

The specs for the Tempest-X are:

Measured with Praxis @ Sea level, 55deg F with drivers broken-in for 8 hours with 25Hz sine wave. Signal level >2V so a relatively high test signal.

Tempest-X

Re: 3.65

Le: 0.9mH

Fs: 18.4Hz

Qms: 3.4

Qes: 0.6

Qts: 0.51

Mms: 200.0g

Cms: .37 mm/N

Vas: 340L

Sd: 806 cm^2

BL: 11.86

I'll be updating the site tomorrow to reflect these numbers.

The primary difference is a softer suspension and a different surround. These came in at our original parameters unlike the first batch that we blew out.

I don't think Kevin has finished the application notes for the Shiva-X yet.

I see that you say the wattage rating on those are a bit conservative...

Can it take about 800 watts...

I am looking for a setup to have for backup...

My sundown saz-1500d puts out about 800 watts @ 2 ohm...

I wouldnt put anything over 600 watts to it continuously. I'm not sure if you are thinking about a pair but these are dual 8 ohm drivers so you can only wire as low as 4 ohm with a single driver (2 ohm for a pair).
