I'm trying to learn more about sound dampening and audio systems. I just ordered 1 Bulk Pack Damplifier Pro - 36 sq feet and 9 sq foot sheet of Overkill from Second Skin Audio. The vehicle I'm working on is a 98 Jeep ZJ 5.9L Right now I'm trying to kill the tire noise some, next will be installing a new audio system.

We have started a Car Audio News and Reviews Website. So far we don't have vendor support which is obviously key. We designed the site so that vendors can post new product information directly to the front page of the site. They do that at no cost to them. We would also like to review their product. (We are willing to pay for return shipping.) It is difficult to get started for two reasons. Visitors will not come if you have little content, and vendors will not advertise unless you have visitors. So we're asking both parties to come and take part. It will benefit us all. For too long we have done without a single place to get all new car audio information. We have done w…

  4. First off i just to start by saying hello to everyone here at the ssa community. My name is Tommy and i have been studying these forums for some time now. I have a minor question upon my entering the community, i did not want to place this in the wrong place considering this is my first post. Well here goes *shoot* Looking for the best 12 inch subwoofer + box for under 200$. Will run off of a 1000 watt Sony Xplod XM1652z ( It's all ive got for right now and i plan to replace it real soon, i know of all the bad terrible things but it was given to me for free). I listen to a lot of dub step/techno. The Pioneer TS-W302R 12 and sealed box i bought of my buddy for kicks and gi…

  5. Question about the use of amps crossovers and sound processors. Is it best to go all active not at all or combine?? Are amp filters as good as sound processors? When you buy a component speaker system you are paying for a crossover too. More expensive units have better crossovers. It’s been suggested that these crossovers use up power so not using them and using HPF and LPF on your amps is the better way to go. An alternative method is using a digital active crossover that can be programmed. Different methods are also to influence phase shifts that can create cancellation or have better frequency curves. The cons would be a dedicated amp just for tweete…

Hey all, I purchased a Sundown Audio Nightshade V1 12 yesterday, and I can only say one word: Wow... I have it hooked to a Rockford Fosgate P8004 amp currently because that's all I could find on the fly, and it 'tickles' the driver. I'm incredibly impressed by the sub, and being that I only paid 150 for it, in good aesthetic condition, and perfect functioning condition, I couldn't be happier. I need an amp to actually push it, but right now I'm trying to test fit the setup in my Daily driver and see how it performs in it, before it goes in my show car. I'll post pictures if anyone is interested in seeing what a 2nd Gen Escort has potential to look like. The box (2.2Cu Ft)…

  13. Hay guys I'm trying to find the detailed specs on sundown audio sae-1500d amp protection modes. Not just what will cause protection modes but more like high/low voltage protection circuit .80volt Spike To go into protection mode or something similar. The issue im having is in my f150 setup, 4 sa-15 subs walled with shared air space total of 19.97cubes tuned at 38 hertz. Drivers are 2 sae-1500d sundown amps strapped, and no not with a dam ratchet strap or rope, strapped as in power and two amps bridged to one. Ohm load on all 4 total is 1.23. with seals on and no wind or movements. Power and grounds are way bigger than spec, I'm running 3/0 aka 000 cables that can handle 4…

Yup Over zealous use of the mod power. **** is 30% classified site and the rest is open for discussion. The mods have gone mad, editing posts, deleting posts and threads. Time to move onto other sites where members can openly discuss there views on topics in proper sections of a forum all the while being respectful to other members. **** has gone the wrong direction. I was out of car stereo for a while but got the itch again, so I am trying stuff in my car. I just want a reasonable SQ system that shakes a little, nothing wild and certainly not expensive. I used to install the stuff a real long time ago and after a while I got to swapping cars so much I got lazy and stopped putting systems in....then had a job with a vehicle I could only put a cheap tube sub in. Now I need room so I am limited, I am going old school and putting 4 12" subs in the back seat IB and taking out the current sealed single 12 box. I have some comps in front that I scarfed off ebay along with the subs and a couple amps I had around. When I get the subs installe…

  16. Hello all, I'm new to this forum and want to give everyone a breif introduction to myself. I've been in car audio since the early 90's, but took a LONG break from it (almost 13 years), and just recently decided to open my wallet back up and get involved again. I like to hunt, fish, now have a serious passion for car audio, and take care of my wife. I'm an outside salesman for a tooling company that mfg's drills, taps, end mills, and other specialty tools. Enough about me... I drive a 2013 Toyota Camry and I am now working on my 4th system in it since the beginning of the year! Yeah, I know, lots of wasted dollars. I thought I was going to start off and be happy w…

Hello everyone. My name is steve and i may be a newbi here on ssa but definitely not a newbi to the car audio scene. I have worked at many sound shops since 1993 and have owned my own shop for the past 3 years. car audio is my passion. I compete once in a while when i have time to. I just wanted to thank ssa for the new xcons i received today! They are by far the best 10" subs i have used thus far. Great sound, and loud! I have had many setups in my cars in the past and in my current lexus is 250 i have used orion 10" hcca, orion 12" xt rpro (which smoked) and alpine 12" type r's. I sold the orion hcca's and ever since that i missed them. My trunk is small, so 12's rea…

What do you guys think of an 18 inch Xcon for home audio/ movies? I know this is a car audio forum but i was just wondering if anyone has done this and their results. Home audio subs are expensive for what you get and there's not too many choices really compared to car audio. I'am planning on using a 2000 watt crown drive core amp for it
