Im trying to learn more about subwoofer building. Specifically how different parts affect the sound of a woofer. Soft spiders vs Hard spiders, Aluminum coils vs Copper Coils, High roll surround vs Normal. Is there a thread that goes into detail about this sort of thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated

I am looking into purchasing a 15" DC level 4 XL or AA Mayhem. If I choose the DC, I have two wiring options. I have a 2400 watt amp at 1 ohm and 1700 at 2 ohms. How much difference does wiring a sub at 2 ohms make vs wiring it at 1 ohm? Would 1700 watts at 2 ohms be enough to get the DC going or should I just stick to 1 ohm?

Name off some high power subs (anywhere above 1000 watts RMS) with a low Fs (below 30 hz) and preferable a 15"

I have 2 sundown SA-12s that will be in a ported 3.5cuft tuned to 32hz with 56sqin of port area on a saz-1500d v.3 wired at 1ohm so about 1500watts with all 1/0 gauge XS flex wire with the big three about to be put in my car. also going with audio technix sound deadener. My buddy has 1 Alpine type R in a prefab sealed box and 1 Alpine type S in a ported prefab box( i would think the type R would be in the prorted and the type s would be sealed but what ever thats his choice) with 4 gauge wire on a 2000watt max amp (both running on same amp) that me or him have no idea what the rms is but he says…

I have the MOJOs right now ran by a Hifonics Brutus 2100.d. Now i know thats not enough for them but in general with a custom box and either same amp or a saz-1500, could i get a little louder with the sundown SA-12s since ill actually be putting enough power to them? Also this would be in a 2000 ford explorer, so if anyone has witnessed a similar setup with 2 sa-12s in a explorer it would be great if you give feedback. thanks

Our friend Don Sambrook (goes by Rudy on the forums), who for a number of years has been dedicating his time and effort to a 3rd party resource for sound deadener, has taken all the results from his tests and started his own product line. Sound Deadner Showdown. There is the CLD Tiles, Butyl Rope, Vinyl CCF, and Vinyl barrier. So far the site looks great and has a very simple and straight forward layout. He is currently working on the site right now I believe, so keep your eye out for more updates. Check it out, the prices are very reasonable too.

So come January ill have all the bits n pieces for my build. What are some things I could do build wise that would make it sound that much better? I read somewhere about firing the sub forward and sealing off the trunk. what is this and what are the advantages? just looking for some ideas of how to squeeze every bit I can from this build. thanks in advance.

JUst curious man, Rockford use to be the Goto company for me, now it seems as if they have been conversing with best buys pres. or something to sale crap.... The last RF sub i bought was last years model, it said it could handle 900 rms right, so i got my jbl 1200.1, had the gains down, but had it so it could play a lil bit, after about 3 days i was back at BB asking for another sub, gotta love there warranty policy...HAHAHAHA, That could be a thing to do buy a whole lot of BB subs, get the warrant, goto comps burp the subs at whateva ya wanted, then take them all back hahaha... 1. Where is a hole in the firewall? Doesn't have to be that large, just need one for one run of 10 gauge. 2. Disconnect battery ... airbag deployment, loss of security, etc ... any of that BS? 3. Install head unit - is it as easy as those couple screws in the bottom panel and then take the top one off? 4. Running wire - where? Under door sills? I have a 98 dodge neon that I was looking to upgrade the sound system on. It is all stock parts except the receiver which was upgraded to a Sony X-plod CDX - GT11W 50W x 4 by the previous owner. I am not all to certain on the size of the speaker, but I think that the doors are 6 1/2 shallow, the rear speakers are 6" x 9", and the middle speaker is a 3 1/2. I don't really know a whole lot about the sound systems of a car, but from what I have read adding an amplifier, upgrading the existing speakers, and utilizing bass blockers would be the main focus. I don't know why I was just thinking about this, but since so many people seem to be so impressed by trunks shaking, wipers bouncing, door panels flapping, and all the resonance and noise that some sound systems produce in the vehicles we drive, I just felt like throwing this out there... Is it just me, or do some vehicles seem to be more willing to do these kind of things than others? i got an ext cab s10 got rid of the blazer and i got an atomic 5000.1 and im thinking eith 2 btl 18's 2 auqioque 18's or 4 q 15's sealed.want something thats gonna move some air and slam pretty good with 5000 watts what would you do?

Is this a terrible idea? Iv set my gain using the way JL audio reccomends, and i seriously get little output with this way to do it. I basically need to turn my bass boost on my HU from 3 (where i orignally set the gain) up to 7 before i even feel likes my 18" BTL is up to the output my old 10's have. Tips for setting my gains by ear?

Hey guys I just plugged in my Fi Q 12d2 to my sundown SAX-1200(refurbished by db-r) to test and make sure everything is working properly. I have a Audiocontrol LC2i to signal the sundowns RCA to the speaker level wiring of my factory sub to the factory amp. I'm 90% sure I have all the wiring done correctly. The sundown amp remote on is ran from the LC2i output. The sundown amp light turns on when I turn on the car so I'm pretty sure the GTO on the LC2i is working properly. I wired it parallel testing out low volume with the sub just sitting on its magnet and get no sound/vibration. I just recently bought 2 Sundown Audio sa-15 dual 4 ohm coils. I absolutely love them. I put them in a 7^3 foot box tuned at 35 hz and they get stupid loud. I was wondering what type of amp to get for them? I'm currently running an mtx 81001d @ 1 ohm but i feel like they want more power. I was looking at getting an SAZ-1500D V.2 but i'm always open to better amps. Any input would be great. Help??
