Can anyone give me a fairly straight forward design for a bandpass box for two 5 1/4" woofers? I like the one i have, but it is uber ghetto (Current Box) I would like to have it peak around 28-30hz for chopped and screwed music, but maintain some punchiness on higher notes. Box size isnt really an issue, the one i have currently is around 9in tall, 4ft long, and 3ft wide. I like the style of mine, the way it is laid out, chamber, port etc so anything similar would be perfect (i might use a plexi top; If i do go with the plexi, i'm spraying the insides flat black). I will build it myself, out of 3/4" mdf and some bracing. Only requirements are is that it must be at most 12…

I have 4 Sundown Sa-8 V2s that I am thinking about putting in a 4th order box and I have a few questions about how to design it. 1. Do I use the manufacturer's specs for the sealed part? 2. What is the best ported to sealed ratio for a box that I would like to have an output of 20s+ hz? 3. Would tuning the ported area to 45 hz give me the best range in frequency response? (Maybe 20s-60s or so)

never heard or owned a 4th order, but id like to spend weekend building one for my sundown x10. Can anyone help me out with this? maybe help me with some designs or advice. i have it in a 1.6 cube slot ported box tuned at 34hz. sealed off from trunk firing into cabin. for my tastes it is not tuned low enough, i was going to snatch everything out and go with a 2 cube box at 30hz. but ive been reading about 4th orders and im really interested in them now. would a 4th be ok for a daily with this sub? goes in dodge charger so i have plenty of trunk space, and can provide max deminisons if needed. i also have the sub specs if it helps. ive read to go with the 2:1 ratio with …

OK, So I recently aquired a 1996 jeep grand cherokee and am in the planning phase of the project. I am looking at running a 3:1 ratio 4th order with either 4 15" or 18" drivers. The issue I am running into is that I am concerned that the box height will end up too low to mount the drivers on a flat baffle. With this being said I was wondering if anyone has toyed around with angled baffles. With this setup I was going to do a driver's side port and tune around 45-50hz. Would this be too much of a hassle and prove to be a nightmare, or should I try to use a more upward firing baffle to fit the 4 drivers (similar to watt's truck but larger and drivers stacked in a 2x2 …

I have 24 cft avaliable for a new enclosure for the new season and would like to try a bandpass box. This is a daily driver so i cant make any major mods to the truck. The truck have 2 layers of dynamat on the doors, roof floors and bed of the truck.I currently have a dual alternator setup with 6 kinetik hc1800 batteries for a electrical system.Believe it or not i also use this vehicle for sq also.I am …

i bought a 4th order box from someone and i want to make the port bigger but not sure how much port area i should have. i was told by a couple people that for a 4th order i should have around 20 square inches per cubic foot of the ported section. the ported section of the box is 13 cubes so i figured 9" x 29" would give me 261" of port which would be 20" per cube. right now i only have 198" of port which puts it at just over 15" per cube. im not sure if this is the correct way to do it so i was hoping someone on here could help me out with this thanks.

in a 4th order bandpass, is it generally better to have the magnet in the ported section or the sealed section of the box? it seems like you would get added cooling from having it in the ported side, but would the motor obstruct airflow to the port?

  9. I have a 2004 Cadillac SLS and am looking to fab a 4th order enclosure for 2 SA-8 V.2's on a SAZ 1500 V.3. The reason for the smaller sub is to help save room in the trunk and to still have high output. The reason for the 4th order is the infamous Cadillac trunk bass trap, so I would like to port the enclosure through the stock sub location in my rear deck. I am not too familiar with hertz levels or anything, but I can tell you that I listen to every thing from Hip Hop, R&B, Jazz, and Alternative. New to the forum here and just looking for some experienced suggestions. If you would like more detail please let me know. Would like a little seasoned input before I spend …

I am in the process of building my car and I am wanting to do something different. I started out with 3 solox 12's but traded them for 2 solox 18's. I have 4 crunch Gp3000d's to use but I only have 18 cubes total to use. So i thought of using only one solox 18 with 2 GP's in a 4th or 6th order bandpass enclosure. This is for daily and maybe a once in a while bass race/street beat run. Would it be better to run 2 18's ported or one in a bandpass? If a bandpass how big sealed and ported.

Build details : 99 Tahoe 6 zv4 15s D1 mega roll cones 2 taramps md 12k’s @ .67 ohms dual 270 alts / 135ah cmax full fiber glass cab, box sealed to cab with fiber glass, stripper pole ect ect I’m torn between a 6th and a 4th order wall with this one. I’m told the zv4 do well in a 4th but really wanted to do a 6th tuned to 25/50hz with 4 6” aero ports in the rear and square port up front The plan is loud and windy however my concern is that I’m estimating to clamp 20k or more out of the amps is my general guess (which could be wrong) and throwing that much power at the subs in a 6th will have them slappin like hell. I plan to under size the…

ok, i'm gonna risk one hell of a flamming here and ask you guys. i was nomeened R-tard of the month on CA.com for saying this so chances are it's gonna happen here too, but what the hell K my question is can you guys hear the difference between a 4 ohm and 1 ohm load? now im not talking about sitting in someone else's car and knowing it, but if you have a 2x2 sub and wiring it to 1 and 4 ohm load. i have tried it with a two different amps(a 2 channel in 2 ohm bridge) and my current RF bd 1000.1. although on a 1 ohm load and lower it ponds like a bastard it just sounds too off, sort of muddy... this all applies if the amp is stable on those loads of course just curious...

The guys at kicker said to tune to 39hz for 4x12" CVR's in a 9sq foot box. I don't see many people tuning much higher than 35hz though. So should I take their word for it and tune for 39hz or drop down to 35? This is my first ported box so, I'm somewhat at a loss.

  16. Okay so I went to Home Depot to get some MDF, Glue, & Screws. So I see the 3/4" MDF and grab a sheet. Then I get home, take it off the truck and find out it's 5/8" instead. Would it be okay to use 5/8" instead of 3/4"? Its going to be for a Single Cab, Downfiring Enclosure, With a Double Baffle. Sub will be AQ HDC3 12"

  18. I got bored with my Skullcandy's, they sounded like asshole (and still do when not on the amp) but I was wondering, if doubling up on drivers might help the bass response; I split up a few cables and ran them to my HT amp, and they sounded much better, but that is not the kind of thing you can lug around for casual listening; I was thinking of getting two pairs of 50mm drivers and mounting them in place of the existing drivers, to see if a little more area helps; the bass only got good around xmech of the drivers currently in there, tried to get funky and had to back it off to prevent the coils from shredding. Anyone know of a reliable brand of 50mm speakers? I was g…

Ok, so I called Pioneer to check and see what they recommended for a square port and they told me 1.65 ft^3 per sub 7in^2 of port per sub 6" deep. Which seems SUPER tiny, but when my boy (BngBlzr) had 4 TS-W306DVC's in his blazer with the same specs, shit was loud. So I got the box all built, and I am NOT IMPRESSED. So what do you guys think for port, I don't want to rebuild the whole box, preferably just the front where the port is. The link is to my facebook photo album where pics of the box are. I am trying to locate my piece of paper with the dimensions written on it to throw that in here for you guys to play with too. LMK what you guys think cause from hearing his 4 …
