I want to build a box for my 2 12's. I want it to be ported but I'm having a really hard time finding a diagram or blue print. The recommended enclosure according to the website is .5 to 1 cu ft. Kinda confused as to what that means.

I found measurements for an enclosure for my 2 12 inch pioneer champ pros tsw3002d4. The box is tuned to 33 hz. I was just curious as to whether that would be good for my subs or too low? The amp I am using is a hifionics zeus 3000 watt zrx3000.1d. This will be my first box build so I want to be as clear as possible. I used RE audio calculator if that is any good.

Ok, well My box is done, and the entire system is up and running. I have a few issues but the one and most major concern, is that my sub box smells like its burning..lol I know, weird, but it smells as if it is charing or something and I don't know why. Anyone have any ideas? Is it just the "new box" smell or what? I smelled the port area and its deff coming from the box. Also, it seems to be pretty warm. Its a 15 inch IA LI. The sub seems kinda warm too, the dust cap, not really hott but warmish. Please help. My box is about 3.9cubes and 3.5 inches of port which is about 54 square inches total, its around there.. Any help would be nice.

I was bored so I went & picked up 2 12s from a flea market this past weekend to experiment with. Made my first box throughout this week & tuned it to 32hz. If I wanted to tune it to 30hz would I add or cut off some wood to the end of the ports behind the subs? I can do the math but need a starting point. Also another separate question, would more port area equal a lower tuning or does it depend on the box?

Just starting my build but I need to know about the box. Ive seen sub up port back sub forward port forward, sub up port up. I assume any combo will work but I want to verify. I want to do sub forward port up. IT would be the same as port forward but the port opening would be up instead of forward. So I guess it would sort of be like an L. Thats the best way I can explain. I need the port firing where the rear deck would be and the sub facing forward. The back of the back seat is being removed and replaced with the box. The sub will face forward in the middle, and on both sides the MDF will be foamed and clothed so two (though small) people can fit in the back seat! I don…

Hello all, I have discovered I am going to have to build a new enclosure for my subwoofer to fit in the current vehicle I drive to work. The car is an early 80's sedan with a large but shallow(height) trunk and I do not really care if I have much space left over. I am pretty good at building things and have no problems making a pretty elaborate box, so my question is: In the trunk of a car like this what is the best enclosure to build without walling off the backseat? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, Mr_Jones

Okay, Elderado told me that in my car, i have a gas tank between the trunk and the back seat. I actually think that the tank wall is my trunk wall. Anyways, Odds are good that I cant get wire back through any cracks there.. So, where do I put it? <pics tomorrow when its daylight> So, I was thinking maybe right behind the drivers seat in a nice sealed box with some plexy glass over the top so it doesnt get stepped on. Either that *not behind the passenger seat becaues its always moved* or I can stick it in the rear deck. Like, I could be able to drop it inbetween the two rear speakers? But I would need to check the space between the deck and the gas tank. Als find ou…

I am not sure what is the right way here? the sub is inverted and firing up. the slot port uses the bottom of the enlosure and fires toward the driver side. not sure where the sub would do best at. thanks chop.

I'm going to be building an enclosure for a friend here in the next couple of weeks for 4 10's. I drew out the layout of the box on a big piece of paper. The original plan was to have the 4 subs upfiring with the port facing back. However, 2 of the subs are really close to the port opening in the box. I'm just wondering if the subs being as close as they are, if it will affect the way the subs perform. I have an alternate plan to face 2 of the subs upfiring toward the middle of the top baffle, and have 2 rear firing on the same baffle as the port. I have drawn a simple sketchup of what it would look like in both situations so you kind of get an idea of what I'm talking ab…

  12. I've been reading the Loudspeaker Design Cookbook and found the effects of lobing due to driver placement on the baffle, but am still left wondering two things. Use the picture below as a reference to how the placement would differ. Assume same port length and volume for each. #1: The port ends in a different location inside the box, does this have different loading effects on the sub? From appearance, it would seem that the air flow in each would be somewhat different and affect the subwoofer? #2: What happens to the subwoofer and response as you move it closer or farther away from the port? Is it best to have it centered or off to a particular side?

  13. Designing a new enclosure for a Fi Q18. I want to be sure that sub placement would not cause any issues with unloading thru the port or odd loading issues off the port wall. It is only a single sub, so I dont believe the loading off the port wall would be an issue. Here is a quick sketch up of the enclosure. The guide mark is the mounting depth, and is approx 4" from the back plate to the port wall. I would prefer center placement just for aesthetics but functionally I believe the position closest to the exterior port vent and above the port wall may be the best bet. Thanks for any insight

I have noticed that my subs (2 12 inch pioneer champs) are peaking high. I think my tune may be messed up but I just cant get it right. It will get real low and then attempt to hit a few high notes. The amp itself should be tuned with lpf at around 35 and ssf at around 20. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know of any way to install subs into a chevy avalanche and still have the midgate useable? I use the thing like a truck but still want to get at least a 12 into it. I also have 3 kids so losing a seat is not an option. Help.

  21. Hey guys I’m building a sub box for a friend. He has a 98’ Camry and wants to fit a 15” T1 in there. My question is what’s the best sub orientation for a trunk setup. I have Sounds in my Altima but I got port and sub firing into the cabin. My friend doesn’t wanna leave his seats down so he asked to have it both firing backwards. Is subs and port back best for a trunk set up? Or is sub up port back works better? I even seen people saying sub up port to the side is really good. But I’m building the box the total usable width so I don’t wanna fire the port right against a wall. Thanks for the input as always guys.

Hey guys, I am in the talks with Steve, the owner of subthump.com. They make some of the best sealed prefabbed boxes I have ever dealt with. They are simply amazing, the prices are budget friendly. Their main focus are on sealed boxes, because they aim at the people who are on a budget and they can mass produce. So I have been throwing emails back and forth and emphazised how much pupularity there is out there for the Sundown Audio SA8's. Now we all know these things shine better in ported boxes. My box building days are over and subthump is nortorious for squeezing out as much air space and the deepest depth for subwoofers. Here is my first subthump box. Ran this box in…
