So I have been browsing several different subs the last few weeks to go with my Sae-1200d. This sub seems like it might be right up my alley, But I am wondering when it will be available, and the price point?

Sundown SD-3 Line : In the Works ----- Thanks to the success of the SD-2 8" model I started developing the SD-3 line; this will replace all SD-2 models in 8/10/12" sizes (there is no 15 in this series). The SD-3 motor and coil design will become under-hung like the 8" model on the bigger 10 and 12" models -- I am also further optimizing the parameters of all models for sealed enclosures... even the 8" model will be tweaked a bit more. They have the same topology as the 8" -- a 1" top plate and 1/2" long coil -- but the 10/12 design uses a 2.5" diameter coil compared to the 2" on the eight. As far as release date... by the time prototype is done and production is done …

Just to start things off, I haven't really done much research and I'm completely new to this forum, so I'm sure I'm repeating a previously stated question. Anyway, I'm new to the car audio game and I want to hit lower notes. I have a Sundown X12 on an Orion CB3200.1D. It's in a box that I can give you just about zero information on because I have no information on it. I had a local company just build me a decent box that would get the job done. I somewhat understand that bigger box = lower frequency, or something like that, but how can I hit lower notes without changing the box? Is there anything I can do with positioning of the box (I have a 2002 Ford Explorer, btw), …

Hey guys, This is a project I've been working on for a while... it's origins date back to 2009 with my unfinished 4" coil Neo design (some may remember it) : http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/sundown-audio/19945-proto-neo-4-motor.html I put the whole thing on hold to concentrate more on things that would really grow the company & our dealer base. That being said... fast forward 5 years now and I have the opportunity and ability to work on this again. As far back as 2009 I knew I wanted to go after my Neo SPL design with a 4" coil -- so I did that again. This time I went for a good bit more Neo and a different / unique design : So this is my first prototy…

I came in yesterday and built this bad boy... a customer had ONE unit on order for a bit and I got a pair of the Aluminum sleeves as samples so I am building this one and one other one this week (both with fat 8-layer coils and are single sub orders). These also don't call for any Gap ID sleeves as they use the fat coil -- so I have enough parts to make them  ----- * Collecting the parts up. * You can see the black coated aluminum pole sleeve in place on the pole but not Gap ID sleeve -- so the overall gap is still pretty massive. The "fat" coil fills it up nicely, though. * Starting the rear glue joint * Rear glue joint completed * Prototype "XL…

Got my first prototypes in for the v.3 revision of the SA-8 -- it took quite a bit of consideration to figure out how to make some improvements to the design but I think we are on the right track : * Newly tooled surround with an improved shape / slightly bigger overall size... this is a new shape I have been testing with for a while that is a bit more linear than the old shape. It allows a small but noticeable amount of extra throw. * We removed the vent ring to reduce the total depth by 10mm -- since this reduces the cooling capability a bit we added gap vents (next photo). I did use appropriately sized drilled vent holes to maintain a degree of pressure in the un…

  16. http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/sundown-audio/166968-sundown-new-platform-spl-parts-production-started.html Originally posted back in March on CACO when I started testing. A better name for the new surround is "Standard Roll" as it certainly isn't just for SPL -- we'll likely start calling it that instead to avoid confusion Either way -- they are now fully in stock and can be ordered on new X, Z v.4, NS v.3, and TEAM drivers and also on re-cones for any of these drivers (TEAM already uses it's own spider; so those aren't compatible with the TEAM). -------------------- Hey guys, Some of you may remember -- or you may not remember -- that I have been plannin…

The tool is done and the very first unit rolled out of the mold yesterday. I will have a sample to play with next week !!! This one is currently patent pending (our 8, 10, 12, and 15 are already patented) -- ETA for full stock will be Jan-Feb of 2015. This frame is ~8.3" tall, supports 6" p-p excursion, and up to a 12" spider (also have 10" and 9.25" landings)... it weighs in at 10-11 lbs (I'll weigh it myself when it gets here). I will finally be comfortable making TEAM 18s at that point. The main bolt pattern is a new, bigger pattern for coils larger than 4" in diameter. For all current designs we have a cast aluminum adapter piece that attaches to the base for a sta…

Ok, so ive been doing some subwoofer research, and i want 2-3 subwoofers that will give good sound quality and also output. I figured 2 or 3 of the SD models. Anyways ive stumbled on this wicked site offering 75% off: http://swspakistan.org/subwoofersa.php?id=new-sd2-10d4-sundown-audio-slim-mount-10-dual-4ohm-subwoofer-shallow-sub-p-11839.html?zenid=2a5e2cbc3a9ee40920f158e6edea1914 Does that seem legit at all? They asked for payment in itunes giftcards after checkout lol. I have no clue what to think about this website. I suspect it may be counterfeit or they might take the money and run. Anyways Im pretty sure its not a legit Sundown audio dealer so i wouldnt be …

They are here early -- original ETA was October. * Current MAP is $299 * RMS is still rated at 600-watts * The coil is the same as the 10/12/15" models * The motor is 10mm wider, 10mm taller, and the top plate is 20% thicker than the 10/12/15" models -- in order to drive the heavier moving mass * The spider is an 8 3/8" with standard XL leads (10/12/15 are 7" spider and recently also got XL leads) * It features a newly custom tooled high roll foam surround * DUAL-2 SPECS * DUAL-4 SPECS

  25. Currently I have plans for a box with these specs: Net Volume: 2.5 Tuning Freq: 32 Port L: 34.5 Port H: 16.5 Port W: 2.5 Port area 41 inches Port area/cubic foot 15.88 It's a sundown X12 dual 2 ohm paired with my SAZ-2000D. It's going a 2000 F150 with the sub and port firing upwards. I plan for a double baffle. Will I have enough port area and does that seem like a decent box? Here's the plans and pictures: http://imgur.com/a/9zqJN I'm planning a H/O alternator most likely mechman 240A or 270A. Does this look okay?
