  1. ok heres my question (sorry if i seem like an idiot lol), I own a saz-1500d, and im planning on going with a single AQ HDC3 15" but what has had me stumped is if to buy a dual 1 ohm and wire the sub in series and then bridge it to the amp, or would it be a dual 2 ohm wired in parallel and connected to one of the inputs and not bridged, because what im trying to achieve is to have the amp play at 1 ohm at 1500 rms. the reason why i ask is because on the forum here i saw a a post that says the amp is not bridgeable, because it is a 1 ohm mono, but then on the manual the diagram appears as if it is bridgeable if going with a single sub setup, im obviously reading one of th…

  2. Got some refurb SA-8s coming next week from Mike for some builds, and here's the first. Its going in a 99 Silvy, made to fit over the center hump under the rear seat. And we did not have to raise the seat at all! The box nets 1.1 cubes, tuned ~ 38hz. https://picasaweb.google.com/ASB2106/NathanS2xSa8# Some of the better pics..

Hey jacob. I recently built a box for my 2 sa8s. I was told it might be too big for the power im throwing at it.I built it with birtch, 2.25 cubes @ 30.2 hz. Im using 2 3inch 14 inches long. Im going to use my saz-3000d @ 2 ohm. I know i have to watch my gain. what would be the best box size for 30 hz for that power? Here is a pic of my work.

Ok, I am on my way to selling things I have to get another SA12 and then change my amp to a SAZ1500D. I am working on a design for the 2 12s now, however I have never done this kind of design so I need someone to check it, and if I am wrong just let me know. Anyway the box is net of 4cuft after displacement, with a 18.5"x2"x24" port tuned at 29Hz. As I said I have never done this kind of design so I do need input, what I figured was the port needed to be with the sharing of 2 walls 24" long, so I designed a T shaped port, now the way I thought it through was because the port had two sections extending out that they should each be half the remaining length of port after th…

Well I have 4 sa-8's and have messed around with 5 different boxes with different configurations. I posted my best score today using MECA AS2 specs. I scored a 137.5 on a single 8" sub. This smoked several larger systems built by people who didn't know any better.

We unloaded these last week -- they are fully in stock in D2 and D4 coils at the same price as always. Rating is now 500-watts RMS due to the longer coil and modifications to the soft parts. They feature a longer coil, bigger surround, deeper motor structure, and a few other minor modifications. The E-15 v.2 will be coming at some point in October to November.

Been here all weekend with customers and whatnot anyway... so decided to drop one in the Jeep real quick. The Jeep hasn't had much love lately and I was using it to haul scrap metal for a while (hence the wooden truck bed) but I decided to break it back out. One 4500D @ 1 ohm with one extra SPV-70 for battery. My box has a pretty high rise so probably seeing 3-4 ohms or so actual on the amp so not a ridiculous amount of juice yet. Sub still has a good bit of usable throw remaining. So I guess the next phase is to actually put in a more usable battery setup for multiple amps and use two amps at 0.5 ohm to get the sub to full stroke. Not sure yet if that will get done …

So... stuff was piling up again. I found more b-stocks, more used 1500Ds are coming back from Team members, and some refurbished amps are popping up here and there as well: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZsundownzQQhtZ-1 B-Stock, Used, and Refurbished amps do come with a warranty but it is reduced compared to a brand new unit from a dealer: Used / B-Stock = 1-year warranty Refurbished = 90-day warranty All amps listed for sale on e-bay are tested thoroughly on my bench here before leaving.

Sorry guys - backed up again. I am going to let everyone in on why that is : 1) My e-mail volume in 2009 *so far* is two times higher than what I got in 2008 all year long. 2) I have been in the process of buying a new home for several weeks now, this takes up alot of time. 3) As many of you know I have a son - he is now 8 months old - so I can't do much e-mail at home these days. 4) Flu season came through... I got sick after MECA finals, that took me out of work completely for a day and slowed me down for a few more. 5) We are busier than ever - and I do alot of other things besides e-mails. Lots of new things in development... uses up alot of my attention and time. All…

We've had some e-mail system glitches at the shop. I've been discussing it on our Facebook page the last few days -- the long of the short is that if you sent a message before February 1st and didn't get a response there is a HIGH likelihood that your message was lost; it is not being ignored but it simply isn't here. Our e-mail volume was too much for consumer e-mail programs and they freaked out a bit... various database problems. In any event our new Zendesk support ticket system for our e-mails is working very smoothly; we fired it up yesterday. If you have an e-mail in that is older than February 1st please re-send it to one of these @sundownaudio.com addresses; bran…

Before I recommend this build to someone, I want to be sure it would sound ok. I have an associate that has a late 70s Vette. Baddass little car. The previous owner installed a flip screen Pioneer deck, and updated the speakers. He says it sounds ok, and gets loud but lacks the lower end like most installs that don't include subwoofers. What he wants is just to include the low end that the upgraded speakers lack, while retaining as much room as possible due to the tiny cabin this car has. My initial recommendation would be to go with the Sundown E10D4 in a sealed enclosure being powered by the Alpine MRP-M500. My enclosure would be a simple cube with internal volume measu…

Hello, can i get opinion if this set up will work. I'll be running pair of the E-12D4 at 1ohm on BRZ 1700.1D. I know the BRZ will not output 1700 @ 1ohm probably close to 1300@1ohm. I am also trying to find how big of a magnet these E series 12" subs are. Thank you for posting
