I have two sundown audio sa-10s that i'm not to happy with. They're not getting very loud at all off a saz2500d and i think my box is to blame. I designed and built the enclosure myself, its suppose to be 2.5cubes after displacements tuned to 32hz but not sure how well that worked out. Im at the point where i'm considering selling the 10's and upgrading to 12's or a single 15 cause i'm frustrated with how they sound. I can try a new box but would hate to put the time and money into it if thats not the problem. Current box dimensions are 30x20x14 exterior and the port is 3x12.5x31. I would greatly appreciate some help on my situation, thanks in advance. My old system was a…

I started talking about doing this line back in November on Facebook then on CACO. I decided to take it all the way to the prototype phase -- this is what I came up with so far. We are talking $60-70 MAP on these from a dealer ----- Here are some initial photos of the FIRST rough prototypes. I am essentially testing for ruggedness and for the soft parts and coil being what I want first. The motor will likely increase in OD a bit if I can't get Qts down with other methods but I started small to ensure we aren't wasting any costs on making it too large off the bat. Had to get a feel for what % I would be off compared to FEA to go from there. If we go to production the f…

What's up guys, I have a 00 jeep grand cherokee. I have two crescendo 5500s and three zv4 18s which I'll be selling for two nsv3 18s. This is my first wall I'm building and I want to make sure I'm using the right ratio and box size. I was thinking of using a 3:1 ratio and anywhere from 2.5-3 cubes sealed per woofer and 15-18 ported for the pair with a 25-47hz range. Any help or suggestions is much appreciated.

I am contemplating purchasing a single Sundown Zv4 15 for my two door 2000 Honda Civic EX. I recently cut out nearly the entire back-dash area behind the back seats and below the back window turning the car into a pseudo-hatchback as it is more or less a project car at this point. My first question is what sort of enclosure would be recommended for this particular install. I have heard that sub up port back towards the trunk works well and considering I should have little to no "trunk" left to rattle I figure this would work good for me. I have also heard of sealing off the trunk with sub and port facing forward into the cabin but I do not wish to compete or achieve high …

Hey guys, I will be entering Db Drag trunk class this up coming season. Im running into a problem and was looking for advice. In trunk class I will be limited to only two batteries total, 15 volts total and 4k of power total that will be clamped at time of burp. Which sundown amp will be the best fit for me? also I plan on using either 2 nsv3 18's or 4 nsv3 12's at .5 ohms.

So I am looking to pick up my first monster amp and I'm between these two, cause I'm afraid they are going to stop making them. I am aware of the fact that the ns1 has had some problems in the past (mechanically, and shipping related) and that the ns1 is more oriented towards competition use. The SAZ-5000 I haven't heard a whole lot positive or negative or any feedback really at all. Besides the input voltage differences that the ns1 has and it's power difference, what are some differences between the two.

*Topic moved to Subwoofers/speakers* Soon I will be getting an SUV, and I need some ideas. I want some loud bass thats impressive but not like competition grade i guess. My idea for a setup is Enclosure: http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/products/ported-dual-12-subwoofer-enclosure.html Amp: my current amp, 1700 rms at 1ohm. Subs: maybe 2 SA-12s wired to 1ohm. I was wondering if maybe 2 Gcons would be better in that box, or maybe two sealed SA-15s in a different box. Im trying to save space and dont want a huge box. Just send me some ideas please. I just want the most bass for my space, and money. *Moved topic to Subwoofers/speakers*

Just curious what you would consider your SQ sub, they all look nice but seem to be more daily beater oriented and slightly less SQ oriented, maybe 60-40 that way. Also, do you have any plans for an SQ reference sub?

Hi guys, I recently bought a NS-1 for my installer. The amp made a world trip before coming to my country (thanks USPS) but we got it right. From the beginning there was a noise like something was loose in the amp. We thought it was due to the fact that the amp is very long and there were not enough screws to hold the panel. One day he smelled something burning, but could not define where it was coming from : from the amp, from the car next to him that was like a smoke machine in the traffic jam,...? Amp never shut off to these days. Today he installed his 2nd btl , re-installed the amp, and had to open it because he realized the fan in the amp was running as soon as…

Currently running a Exodus Shiva X2 SVC 4ohm in a 1.5cuft sealed box. Its an awesome subwoofer BUT, I was wanting to add another one but since they are no longer available thats not possible. So i'm looking to upgrade for more output and perhaps deeper extension. This brings me to the SD X series. Anyone have any opinions on whether the X 15 would be a worthwhile upgrade? My amp right now is a Soundstream PCX 1500D, specs claim 800watts 4ohm, 1100watts 2ohm and 1500watts 1ohm. I would get the X 15 D2 so I can wire it to 1ohm and would like to go sealed. No crazy about ported in the car. Fronts are Hertz HSK 165 XL so midbass and output are no problem. I kno…

Hi, I am debating on which of these two setups to use, im going for either 1 10 or 2 8 and its down to the x10 vs 2 sa8-v2. Both setups would be with 1000w rms. The two sa-8 v2 would be on 1.2 cf net enclosure tuned to 35hz and the x10 would be on the recomended enclosure. I am looking for an overall good and loud set up that works for all types of music, From Salsa to Hip Hop. Let me know what you all think. Thanks in advance

Looking for suggestions on which sub would be better suited for my situation. I have right at 6 cubes after all displacements, figuring on 82 square inches of port tuned to 33hz. Power will not be an issue with either sub, current plan is one or two PPI Black Ice 1800s. Electrical will consist of 270A alt and 2 D3100s. Going into a very well deadened 99 Ram Quad Cab. The reason for the limited space is I'm attempting to keep a small seat area on either side and run the enclosure centered on the back seat, seat bottom to ceiling. With that setup the only wat I can realistically pull it off is to have both sub and port forward. I figure I'll center the sub between the front…

This is a direct replacement for our old SAX-100.4 model as it is a Class-A/B model amplifier. It is much more compact than the old SAX-100.4 but not nearly as compact as the SAX-125.4 model. We have had a great deal of demand for this unit as it is significantly less expensive than the SAX-125.4 model and is perfect for those that don't need such a small foot-print or a 19v stable amp (these are stable up to ~16v). They are available NOW for $400 from any authorized dealer in the USA. -----

To order a re-cone e-mail [email [email protected]][email protected] -- do not e-mail my "sundownz" address if you need a quick response. To reduce back-and-forth e-mails ALWAYS include the following : 1) What you are ordering -- Model, Coil Configuration, Etc. 2) If you already have a basket or not; please check below for any special notes. 3) If you need ANY custom options please specify up front. 4) !!! YOUR ADDRESS AND NAME !!! 5) A picture of what you have goes a long way to be SURE we are talking about the same thing. IT WILL TAKE, ON AVERAGE, 10-14 days for a built item like a drop-in to be completed. It may take longer depending on how busy ou…

Probably won't have any time to put them in for another couple weeks, but just wanted some info. What crossover point should I use for the woofers to protect them from too much power? Right now my SAX 50.4 needs repair, so I'm gonna be using an old ADS PQ 10 bridged to run them, so probably around 60-80 watts per channel, so shouldn't be too large an issue with that. But when I get my Sundown amp back, I thought I would run that bridged, which would give them what, about 160 watts/channel? I've seen Jacob mention he's been running his off two channels of a 200.4, so I assume that's 200/channel? So what crossover point is recommended, and higher with a shallow slope,…

From the other night -- left number is dash and right number is kick panel. It's our new SPL project... so far we haven't officially stated what is in it so if you know (shhhhhhhhh) -- but we'll have it at a show soon then, of course, have all the info out there! It's mainly a burp vehicle and the absolute peak is 60 Hz but we have done pretty good numbers in the 40s range as well -- haven't really played lower than that as of yet. We did have it up to a 165.4 as well with a few tweaks.

The new NS v.3 woofers will have a HUGE number of options. 1) The motor supports two sleeves to configure it's gap size / overall performance. • POLE SLEEVES (these are permanent; only selected when built) : * Copper sleeve – for low inductance / low distortion * Steel sleeve – for higher BL / higher SPL – STOCK SETUP • OUTER GAP SLEEVE (these can be swapped when re-coning the driver) : * 83mm OD – Z v.2 style coils; lowers mass / lowest inductance – for high frequency burps. My next round of Z v.2 coils will have a longer former for use on the new platforms. * 85.2mm OD – Standard coil; VERY long 4-layer flat coil – maximum linear travel / good mix of SPL and day-…
