Going for a new mid highs setup!! Taking out the ken woods. I have two SSA Icon 15s for my lows. Looking for 2 6.5s and 4 6x9s... And I'll maybe keep my crescendo super tweeters. Any suggestions?? What would yall put in y'alls ride if you had a price limit of 250 for each. (I want to hear about y'alls goals) saying you had two 15 icons!!

Currently have a 15" Xcon sealed at about 3.2 cubes which I've had on various power from a BC3500d, Kenwood KAC-x810d, JL 500/1, rf T5001bd and I loved it(still love it).... This was all in a '03 Camry with an upgraded mechman 320a ... My situation is now I have a new 2016 Mazda3 hatch.... I dont really want to do much audio wise yet besides at bass.. clearly much smaller space... My options I've considered: add in LOC so I can get audio to a low power sub amp or use my ZED mikro4 and bridge to a dual 4ohm sub 10" sub wise: downgrade to any 10" SSA sub and port.. aka Dcon, GCON, ICON, Xcon OR purchase basket and recone for Xcon 10" and put in some work o…

  6. So, I installed my new dcon 10 in a box that was built by a local audio shop 1.25 cu ft with a slot port that is supposedly tuned to 32.5 hz. I have this enclosure rear firing in my 2010 fusion with 300 watts crossed over at 80 hz. The main thing I have noticed is that the bass is very loud around 40-45 hz with not much in the 60-80 hz range. I'm wondering if this is just due to in car cabin gain and something I am going to have to eq out or if its possible that the box is tuned wrong? Would going with a lower tune, like 29 or 30 hz help with smoothing the upper frequencies? Just trying to get the best bass I can out of the system.

Getting my new ICON here soon and was just wondering which route I should go for hooking it up. I have an Audioque 1200d amp, so its 1200w @ 1ohm and 870w @ 2ohm. I was planning on giving the sub the 1200w, but I'm wondering if I should go the 870w route. More or less, I'll be unpacking the sub, installing it, and then hitting the road for a long road trip... so its going to see a lot of use right out of the box. Would it still be ok to go with the 1200w, or is the 870w a safer route? Thanks!

  19. I'm building a set of passive crossovers to do justice for the SSA Evil midwoofers and silk dome tweeters. This is a no compromise design that uses 48 (!) parts per set. They will be potted in epoxy resin inside ABS enclosures and hard wired with direct connection to the drivers. I have been working with these drivers for a while now and really like them. Install will be in a 1978 F-150 a good friend and I built. The rest of the system will be a SSA 150.4 and a 10" custom built PSI sub.

Thank you to ANT for purchasing and donating the driver for test! This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 1022x680. My first impression upon receiving this sub was that finally, someone came out with a reasonably sized design. Unremarkable in appearance compared to the latest drivers, nonetheless all the hallmarks of a high end driver are present. Large progressive roll spider, large 4 layer voice coil, aluminum former, cast aluminum basket, venting under the spider, and a massive pole vent in the rear. A nice added touch is the tinsel leads appear to be covered in a non-conductive braiding. May I also add, thi…

  23. this thread is just to gauge the interest you guys would have in this. I got permission from, in fact, welcomed open arms from MTX on a SSA tour. I would really love to see this as it is a very fun place to visit. IT is the Phoenix campus where they make and distribute alot of their high end amps and much much more. If you are in the AZ or surrounding area's, and would like to be a part of this, please post up a general date range when this would be possible and lets see if we can all come to an agreement on a date. Would be a fun time for sure! Me: I'm set for when ever is good for the masses!

I scored this classic ICON the other day. It's brand new and has never seen power. it was in the original box from SSA with the stickers and brochure and the blue foam pads were still intact. I was told it was a D2 so I planned on wiring it in series and powering it with a US Acoustics 2300 at 4 ohms bridged. I hooked up the US Acoustics and it was screaming and then the fan kicked on immediately. I hooked up my DMM and found out the ICON is actually 1.5/1.6 ohms. So wiring in series results in 3.1 ohms and not 4 ohms. I just sold my US Amps USA-1000 so the only amp I have left that would be able to handle the new ohm load is an older US Amps USA-200. It's rated at 520W x…

Great sub...I do have a question though. I bought the sub from my son.....he bought it here. We built a 1.35 cube box tuned to 32 hz according to the reccommended box designs. I have been running it off a Usacoustics USA 2150 bridged rated for 500 watts. Probobly a little more than that......It has sounded incredible. I had the pleasure of recently aquiring an ESX Q275.2. Bridged rating is 800 watts. Am I getting close to the power handling of this sub? I have tried to find specs on the original run of Icons but have had no success.
