Name will be finalized shortly, as will specs, price and availability, so if you ask any of those questions I don't have an answer just yet. This is long over due, as we have needed an 8" sub for a decade now. Those of you who have been along for the ride, might remember we had a Dcon8 built 9 years ago, but production never happened due to cost of making it here in the USA. Production has not been kicked off yet, but we are VERY close. Some minor changes inside (unable to be seen from photos below) are being made to the design before we kick off. I am very pleased from the performance of the prototype and the output is very strong for an 8. It is a lower Qts.…

  3. Some good time back a topic was started that had a few really good background images posted up but nothing else was ever really added. Is there a possibility of starting another one and getting some new up to date images posted up and perhaps some for mobile devices as well?? I do love the image of the ZCONs I've been using for awhile but it would be great to have some nice new ones to shuffle through, especially on my phone.

  4. A few years late, but we are finally getting a very nice tweeter going that is worthy of being a part of the SSA line. The pictures below show the prototypes, they are really attractive in person and will, in production form, bare the SSA logo. See the attached files for the 4 and 8 ohm versions. They are quite smooth to my ear (aka not super bright like some metal dome tweets can be) and blend well with the Evil6.5's (vital to the design). These are not a PA style, 'screamy' tweet, these are meant for sound quality first and foremost. Possible future home audio plans. Pricing is not set just yet. These will be sold as a pair. Some quick points of info:…

I scored this classic ICON the other day. It's brand new and has never seen power. it was in the original box from SSA with the stickers and brochure and the blue foam pads were still intact. I was told it was a D2 so I planned on wiring it in series and powering it with a US Acoustics 2300 at 4 ohms bridged. I hooked up the US Acoustics and it was screaming and then the fan kicked on immediately. I hooked up my DMM and found out the ICON is actually 1.5/1.6 ohms. So wiring in series results in 3.1 ohms and not 4 ohms. I just sold my US Amps USA-1000 so the only amp I have left that would be able to handle the new ohm load is an older US Amps USA-200. It's rated at 520W x…

I ordered 2 12" Xcon's on September 30th, hoping they ship soon, anybody know how long it takes? It's been 27 business days and they haven't answered my calls or called me back Also, will 12 gauge speaker wire work? I will power both 12's off a Rockford fosgate T2500-1bdCP. And do they need to be broken in when I hook them up originally? Or can I play them full tilt right away as long as there's no clipping?

Hi everyone, I have a 15" Zcon in a CX-5 Mazda. The box is huge in the cargo area : no more room left for groceries ! 4 cu ft @ 33 Hz. I would like to try a new box with sub up AND port up. I feel like the port is too close to the tailgate, and it flex too much. How do you think a new box with port up will play ? Will I loose anything from that change ? Is it absolutely necessary to have a double baffle ? I like to flush mount the sub, and I don't want to use 3 baffles for the new box? Can it be good with good bracing only ? I will try 3.5 cu ft to have asmaller box. I need to take out the false stock floor to put a higher box an…

I just obtained an SSA DCON12 single 4ohm. It will be run off a JBL MS-A5001. So 500 watts. I am looking for SQ. My last setup was a CDT QES1220 in .62cu.ft sealed. It sounded phenomenal. But I made the mistake after selling my Explorer of telling the wife that the CDT is hers..lol So now I have a chance at the DCON. Couple questions: 1: How will the DCON respond in an Infinite Baffle? 2: If I run sealed, have you guys plotted the 12's to see where it gets the flattest response? .75, 1, 1.2 cu.ft???

Currently have a 15" Xcon sealed at about 3.2 cubes which I've had on various power from a BC3500d, Kenwood KAC-x810d, JL 500/1, rf T5001bd and I loved it(still love it).... This was all in a '03 Camry with an upgraded mechman 320a ... My situation is now I have a new 2016 Mazda3 hatch.... I dont really want to do much audio wise yet besides at bass.. clearly much smaller space... My options I've considered: add in LOC so I can get audio to a low power sub amp or use my ZED mikro4 and bridge to a dual 4ohm sub 10" sub wise: downgrade to any 10" SSA sub and port.. aka Dcon, GCON, ICON, Xcon OR purchase basket and recone for Xcon 10" and put in some work o…

Currently running JL 12w3's in a ported box @30hz with 900 watt rms. They get low and don't sound bad at all. But not real loud. Not looking to up my power, and am very curious to try a different brand. Thinking of the dcon 15's. But it will be easier to stick with 12's. So my question is will the dcon 12's give more output than my w3's on 900 watt rms in a 4 cu ft box at 30hz. Or should I just save for the 15's and a new box?? Hoping someone here had experience with the w3's and the dcon's and can chime in.

i want to make a ported box for my xcon 10 and i was thinking about modifying the predesigned enclosure to make it fit for my car. I'm just curious why the boxes are the same for the xcon and icon 10's. the recommended specs are different for the 2 woofers but i can't find a difference between the pre designed enclosures. should i be using the recommended specs as a guide or the predesigned enclosures as a guide. just a bit confusing.
