I just ordered a pair of GCON 12" D4 to be powered by a couple of 800W RMS amps. While waiting, I figured I'd build a box to fit in my trunk. After deciding I wanted to go with a sealed box to save room on space and measuring the insides of my trunk, I sat down with google sketchup and this is what I came up with. It will be cut from a sheet of 48"x96"x3/4" MDF, wood glued, and then wrapped in trunk-matching carpet. Let me know what you think!

Newb here. Looking for some input from the more knowledgeable. So i can conclude on amplifier choice. Desiring to put a Gcon 15 sealed in the trunk of my Jetta. I have approximately 2.88cuft to work with. So now my question is; what rms power would be better for daily use 820 or 930? I listen to mainly hip hop and electronic types of music. Occasional rock and jazz. Please let me know if any other info needed and thanks for your help. Mark

My last setup I had was 4 vvx 15s on a single sk1500 subs foward port up tuned to 35hz in my 2011 Chevy silverado extended cab. The box was 16 cubes gross and was above the window line. (new box needs to be under window line if you wondering why I am shrinking the box) Now that you have a little back ground info I now have a single cresendo bc3500 and I'm planing to rebuild I have 20h x 20d x 55l which is around 10.5cubes gross and want a daily ground pounder that can move some air. I'm currently looking at the xcon 15s d1 my questions and concerns are will I lose a lot of output going from 4 15s to 2? I am over doubling power which should help. Also I will only have abo…

I hate internet shopping but I have approximately 750 watts RMS @ 1 ohm and would like to run a ported 10 in my 2012 WRX. I was just wondering how the GCON stacks up to the Fi Q in terms of Sound Quality? Keep in mind, I only have some listening time with the Fi Q, and IMHO, it is a bargain for the price. If the GCON is close enough, it may be a bargain to the bargain.

Do you build the subwoofer when the customers buys one or do you have then in stock most of the time?

While we are waiting on a few parts to come into the build house, there was enough to build up a small batch of Dcon 15's. Actual inventory of this posting: 15D4: 8 units 15S4: 10 units http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/products/dcon-15-sound-solutions-audio-15-300w-dcon-series-subwoofer.html

I finally took the time out to measure my trunk for a box for my brand new still in the box 2 x 12" Dcon d4 subwoofers. This is going in a 1983 Cutlass Supreme. Height: 14.75" Width: 38" Depth: 21 &1/2". I have no idea how those measurements would convert into cubic feet for the subs. Will a box built to these specs work with these subs? Amp is a Rockford Fosgate 1051s rated at 1100 watts bridged. I jumped the gun and ordered subs before measuring. I realize the trunk is wide but not tall, so box height would be limited, which makes for a somewhat smaller box. Probably should have gone with 10"s. But I'll try to work with what I got. I know in terms of sou…

I'm doing a budget system and I'm trying to decide on which sub will work best with my space limit and amp. My space constraint is because I've got to leave enough room to get the stroller in the trunk of my 2001 E class. I'm going to build the box to make best use of the space I've got. Based on my calculations I can get up to about 2.25 CF slot ported tuned to 30hz. It's going to have to be long and rather shallow but should work. That will give me enough space to meet the optimal enclosure spec for either a 12" DCON or a 10" GCON. The 10" GCON needs 1.75-2.0 CF tuned to 28-33hz The 12" DCON needs 2.25 CF tuned to 28-33hz I'm going to be using a powerbass ASA 400.2x …

All, I'm looking to run a pair of 12's in a sealed enclosure (1.00-1.25 ft^3 per) @ 600W RMS to each sub. Would I be losing any significant performance by under powering these subwoofers? I understand that they are rated for 750W RMS but I am limited to a total of 1200W RMS and would like to run 2-12s in a sealed enclosure due to my trunk-space limitations. Also, should these perform well in a relatively small sealed enclosure or is 1.0-1.25 FT^3 too little? What is the current lead time on the GCONS? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, SnapperKing

it was a pleasure of mine to order my first but not last opening order today. i spoke to mark from ssa and he placed my order. i already sold four of the 12" zcons to a customer. mark was very helpful and even said i might get a banner if he had one, and some literature too. i am so far very well pleased with product and customer care! keep up the good work SSA! sincerely: steve from S&A in chicago

bought this sub back in january and finally installed it in my truck about a month ago was in a sealed box about .7cubes and heard some air leaks first thought it was coming from a gap when i mounted the sub to the box. turns out a small spot on the dust cap was glued so i had to buy some goop and fix that works great after. recently started building a ported box and was going to mount the sub in the new box and was just doing a look over on all the parts before i mounted it and noticed a bit of glue missing where the cone meets the spider, it isnt seperated just missing glue it looks like. cant say if it was user error or just a mfg defect, sub hasnt been pushed hard i…

I managed to crack the dustcap on beloved OG blue cone Icon 10. I won't get into how I did it but it really has me pissed. I went and got a carbon fiber cap from Fix My speaker. My question....What harm would there be in just glueing the cf cap right over the original? I haven't weighed the cf cap but it feels like it weighs next to nothing. Would it throw off my parameters a lot?

I thought this was pretty cool. Of all the different pictures and manufacturers they had to choose from they picked SSA XCON's for the picture in their ad.

2 10" SSA Icon's I want ported, firing back in a trunk setup. Newer model Chevrolet Impala, so I have a lot of room to play with (in terms of the 18 3/8's width given, I can go more). Should I stick with the pre-designed enclosure numbers or do something different, because I have the space? 1k to each subwoofer. Hip-Hop & R&B - All the lows I'm getting someone to build the box so I only have 1 shot at this, so to say. Thanks guys.

Has anyone tried a xcon in a 4th order? I have 1 10 right now on a saz1500@ .5 in a 1.75^3ft tuned to 31hz with 31" port area. It's in a 18 wheeler and am having trouble getting it as loud as I'm sure it's capable of. I previously tried a 1.25 sealed and enclosures didn't make much of a difference. This vehicle previously had a difficult time due to cancellation. The space I have to work with is 13.5h, 37w, 23d. I was gonna try using a smaller enclosure and less port, maybe down to 13" per cube. I'm about to order a second 10 and another 1500 to get the cone area and power up. But I wanted to eliminate the canceling of the cone/port and try a 4th order with the port firin…

Ok, this is just a test feeler for SERIOUS interest. We have not finalized the added cost or pricing yet, so don't ask. Weight wise, they are nearly identical to the current caps being used on the SSA Icon and SSA Xcon (possible convex cap for the Zcon). Below is what the 10" Xcon looks like with the Carbon Fiber cap installed (thank you to Duran for the work and Sean DeYoung for the picture). If we were to offer it, it would be a limited edition, upgrade option. Tell us your thoughts. We really like the looks of it.

Im in the process of picking out my sub and box combination, I was thinking of either waiting on a 10" Dcon or going with a Gcon. The amp that I have is a Soundstream 405s, these are the dimensions that I'm working with 30x12x15 any suggestions would be great.
