I started the thread 2.1 Setup a while back but hit a brick wall beings I really had no clue what I wanted/needed. So I have scratched the idea completely and am starting again from the ground up. Here is a couple options I want to consider 1. A single Full range driver BIB setup like ANeonRider's. I figure my advantages are that things are much more cost effective, less channels of amplification, no crossovers. Its really all in the box and I can build a box. 2.Topgun mentioned a 10" with a horn setup. I really don't know all that involved with it wanted to explore that option more. (Maybe get use of a SD-1 as a midbass driver?) 3. Somewhere in between the two, or …

my center channel I used 4 of the monster cubes in series/parallel, so it's the same impedance, same power going to them as the other 6 channels. It sits right in between the L and R. All three are at the edge of the entertainment stand, should be minimal loading if any at all. Why did Audyessey set the center only -1.5dB from the L and R rather then -3dB?

Alright, so I want to set a goal for myself, something to aim towards for my first project. Between saving for school and fixing my room (dog ate my carpet), i'd like to set aside a chunk of money for my 5.1 setup. If i had thought for two more seconds, i would have incorporated this into my previous thread, for the amp, but ehh. I am looking to build either four bookshelf type speakers, and a center channel, or two towers, and two rear bookshelfs, plus a center channel. I don't know anything at all about home audio. (M5 don't even post that i know nothing of car audio either, i see that coming) But, i do know my goals. This system is purely for music. I use the speakers …

I am looking to build a box for 2 EHQS 12's to put in my room. The measurements of the box are 48" h x 20" w x 16" d, they are not for sure if you have any suggestions let me know I just want a tower design to go in the corner. And I was planning on using dual flared aeroports either 2 4" or 2 6". My question is how is my design will they sound good for HT use, if not please help me with my design to where they will perform the best and get the loudest. And what size ports should I use the 4" or the 6" ports, what tuning am I looking for with HT. I know alot about car audio and can build one hell of a box for a car setup but I am not too familiar with HT setups and what i…

I am going to put this here since it somewhat relates. What is everyone using? I will be purchasing one soon ... missing some TV shows/sports games on nights that I stay at work late is not going to cut it anymore, and I do not want a VCR. I have not read into them much. I just want something fairly basic with a small-medium sized HD that is capable of 10+ hours at the very minimum.

Just wanted to say that I recived my pair yesterday after school, and I am VERY happy with them. The bass response is phenomenal, highs play crisp and clear, mids are smooth and not over powering. I am very happy with them. Price direct from DD isn't to bad either, worth the money I think. Go DD :bigclap:

I'm diggin the finish on this enclosure... It appears to be some sort of tile or kitchen counter material. How hard do you guys think it would be to do something similar? I'm seriously considering it.

I've got two eD EQHS 8" subs I'm going to build a box for, power will come from a 250w eD plate amp. I'll be building a ported box, this will mostly be used for video games and such, so anybody want to come up with a design? Or even give me some good airspace and port tuning recommendations?

I've been doing research on home subs and the prices are outrageous so i figured i'd try out a custom setup and incorporate a 10" or 12" fi q. anyone ever set one up at home? i want BIG car like bass( if possible) it'll be used for 60% music, 30% movies, and 10% gaming. what size box should be used? ported? sealed? also would an amp like this work? http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...tnumber=245-435

Finally started building these after having the part for a couple of months! (2) 12" Fi X Series, Dayton 500 watt plate amp, 3.0 cuft each, 4" aero port tuned to 24 Hz. Should be a nice replacement for this guy's 10" MTX sub.

I'm stoked, finally getting an Adcom GFA-555 II for my Maggies. I've heard them with 100 watts per side and they sounded good, but 300 watts per side is going to be badass. I can't wait! Thanks to Jim for the recommendation a while back on my Magnepan thread. I ditched the idea of using a receiver to power the Maggies and decided to ante up for some real power. The seller had a pair of them so that's why there are two in the picture.

Well I just finished my Heathkit AA-151. My first tube project. I had a thread going over at ForceAudio with all the progress and pictures but the site is currently down. I'll get some pictures up in a bit. I finished mounting the RCA Jacks today, which was all that was left of this project. Prior to today I have replaced the PS caps, coupling caps, and any electrolytic capacitor. I also changed any out of tolerance resistors, and I eliminated the Xtal Phono input and replaced to according input resistors to make an additional auxiliary input. All the input Rs were also replaced. I was planning to go through and replace all the components in the RIAA Eq with 1-5% …

Hey guys, I'm trying to make my first h/t setup. I really need two seperate setups, one to please the wife, and a second for me. I've been into car audio for years, but until recently I was only home for a few hours to sleep, so the car was more important than the house. I'll give you a run down of my expectations and limitations, as well as what I already have/will have/have planned. Expectations: I really want something that's going to sound good, get the full range very well, and not break the bank. I'll probably have to take my time to get everything I want right, but I need to know what to look for. Limitations: My wife. She wants a decent sounding system that'll be…

Ok so so I just got my own house, move in tomarrow, but I need a killer HT. I have a Kenwood reciever, 2 mtx cabinets, maybe some other cabinets, and my 10" ssd that I just bought back yesterday. What I need to know is how can I porew the sub? What amp or power supply should I buy for it? I was thinking about building a Tline box for the sub. Will be for movies and PS3, but also lots and lots of music. I want a Nice clear sq setup, not so "bassy", but enough bass to hear and tell that it is there. I don't need a lot of power maybe 200-300 watts. This is first "real" HT project so I'm just lookin for some help. Thanks, Mikey

Looking to get my first home theater system. I think I'd like to run a 5.1, I really have no experience in this field. All my previous focus has been on cast audio. I'd like some serious bass and clarity on the mids and highs. My house is well insulated and a good distance from my neighbors, town of 3000.... I'm in no rush to get the equipment, so I can stack up some coin to get it. I'd like to run two 15s or 18s for bass but I'm looking for reasons why I would or wouldn't like such. Are low power car sib audio equiptment more econimalical? I enjoy primarily rap but do listen to a lot of alt rock, nothing metal or anything in that direction. As for overall budget I'd say…

At my house, I have these Kenwood floor standing speakers. It has 3 different looking tweaters, and 12"woofer. Then I look in my KEF rear speakers, and it has 1 speaker which has a tweater in the middle of a little 6" woofer. Obviously, the Kenwoods sound a lot better. BUt I am confused. I want to build my own, but why are there 3 different looking tweaters? I know that the frequencies are seperated by a crossover to the different tweaters, but when I search around for tweaters, I dont see tweaters being seperated by the frequency it plays. Help?

These aren't mine, but a friend got them in and needed some help moving them, and I had never heard Altecs this big before, so this is what I spent Monday doing... Note to self, don't drink beer and install horn throats... They're mid 1950's Voice of the Theaters, they're actually a set of three of them, we just ran out of room to aim them Gets painfully loud with under 3 watts of power...most comfortable listening was done with power levels in the fractions of a watt range.

Due to the purchase of my first real TV, I am venturing into digital to digital signal. The TV has no RCA outs, so my Dayton 2.1 plate amp couldn't directly mate up with my TV. With some help of Neal and SDY, there was an option for a converter or amp replacement. Due to potential latency issues with the signal conversion and possible effect on the quality of the sound, I opted for a new little amp. So I just ordered the SMSL Q5 PRO as it has optical in, a remote, and RCA out. https://www.parts-express.com/smsl-q5-pro-stereo-amplifier-usb-optical-coaxial-dac-with-subwoofer-output-2x40w--230-210 This gives me the ability to still use the plate amp for just subwo…
