Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. I searched the web looking for a "how to" on fixing Tinsel leads and couldn't find one. So I made one myself and would like to share it with the car audio community. (I will be cross posting this "how to" other web sites.) Don't throw that sub away just because the leads broke! Here's how to fix them. Finding new leads can be a pain, and this is just a "how to" video. So I will just be using De soldering braid instead of replacement tinsel leads. De soldering braid will work in place of real leads, but not for long. This can be a bit time consuming and will take some patience. I'll use this old sub I had laying around for this. Start by going around the dust cap with a…

Here is a cool one for everyone who is amazed at the size of an MTX RFL. Here it is compared with a Shocker Sig. One of my favorite pics. And yes, the Shocker is a 12".

Best 10" that'll work in .8 with 7.5 mounting depth? $600 is for both amp & sub. This is gonna be for an sq system in a g35 coupe so gobs of output isn't a requirement.

Just as the Topic title states. I have been getting MIXED Responses on whether "Breaking In" your Subs is necessary. What do you think about that or do you not do it at all. I have always "Broke In" my subs, but I have a Comp coming up in the next week or Couple of weeks from now. My subs are pretty much stiff, as I have just installed them today. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance for your Input on this matter.

I have two Stereo Integrity Magnum D2's and want to port them very badly. I am looking for LSQ about 60/40 SPL to SQ. Ill be giving each sub 800 true watts. This will all be going in the trunk of a 2000 cavalier. The biggest box I can fit in their is 30w x 15h x 16d. I want to tune the box to anywhere from 30 - 35hz if possible. What is the biggest box I will be able to make to those dimentions and what will it be tuned to? Will I have to use round ports or is it possible to use a single slot port. If round will there be any port noise and if so how noticible will it be? I am making box by tommorow so I would appreciate responses as soon as possible. Thanx.

DD post their excursions in "suspension". Does this mean the total distance the sub can travel as opposed to xmax which means the greatest travel in one direction? For example, their 9500 series has suspension of 80mm... it doesn't seem like this can be xmax.. so would the xmax be 40mm ??(half of the total distance traveled)

  15. Now days the new Fi Q's are rated for 1500 RMS stock, 1700-1900 RMS with cooling while the AA Havoc is rated for 1250. In searching older reviews and comparisons I have read that for the most part the Havoc plays better down low but I don't know if it will handle the 1800-1900 watts RMS daily the Crescendo BC3500D will be giving it. I would like for the enclosure to be 5.0 net cubes tuned to a medium of 31 Hz either way and I prefer lower end deep and ground-pounding bass in the 28-36hz range more than anything. I want to flex my car to bitts and pieces and "feel" the music more than merely hear it. I want to violently shake everything and make it feel as though my car is…

  16. hey whats up guys I made up my mind and decided to go with audioque, and now i just dont know if to go with the 1 hdc3 12" or go with 2 sdc2.5 12's, i would be using a sundown saz-1500d for the amp, now i know they say the more cone area the louder it will be, but dam i am very interested in that 1 hdc3 12" lol, oh and also if i were to go with the one 1 hdc3, what do u guys recommend aluminum or copper coils? i would be using it for daily music, mostly listen to hip hop, and i want some decent lows, but remember i want the loudest heard, which many say is different then actual spl setup, but im not a pro so i maybe very wrong, the point is im going with very loud mids a…

I am making my first attempts at subwoofer building. I never reconed or built a subwoofer so I am learning as I go. Top priority for these subs is to have a low qts since I plan on using these with passive radiators. Suspension compliance is really a stab in the dark at best. The motors I am using are built by TC Sounds for Lightning Audio. They have a cool neodymium slug and a huge top and bottom plate. The baskets and cones are made by TC Sounds as well. The baskets accommodate six hole mounting points. I needed to drill mounting locations for the four hole motors. I sent the baskets out to be powder coated. I should have them back in the next co…

alright, i am currently putting together a system in my 99' Mits galant. I am planning on hooking up 2 15" rl-ps hookeed up to a hifonics bx2200d (1800-1900rms). They will be in a sealed enclosure recieving around 1.7 cubes each. They are reccomended up to 2.5 i belive and was wondering what kind of difference i should expect by giving them less air. Of course polyfil will be used to compensate this. I have plenty room in my trunk its just that the opening is so damn awkward i cant fit anymore then this. I was originally oging to get a 15"XXX in a snailshell but could not fit the box, then i was going to get a 12"xxx in a snailshell but said screw ported 2 15" sealed woul…

I'm trying to decide If I should go with one SAZ-4500D or two 3500D's to power (2) 18" FI BTL's fully loaded. I had my mind pretty set on the saz-4500D, but Ive read that plenty of guys are running the fully loaded btl's way over 3k each so I dont think that the saz-4500D could get the most out of the two btl's running at normal volts of 12.8-14.5 So what amp do you guys think i should go with or whats the better idea? Thanks, Mike P.

hey guys, Just put in my request at work for my rockford fosgate accomodation. Im picking up 2 t40001bds. I have a 2003 chevy s10 ext cab, bagged and bodydropped. I already have 4 kinetik 2400s, over 130ft of 1/0 with 6 runs from the front to the back, and a new alt coming soon (currently have a 160a, which is obviously not enough) I cant decide what subs i wanna run! i have roughly 8 cubes to play with, so i was thinking a pair of 15s. maybe btls, or level 5 dcs, or maybe t3 tsns. i dont know! its gonna be for a daily, and i want this thing loud as hell. I used to have 2 btl 18s in it in a huge box that went to the top of the window, and i hated driving it like that. …

About to put three 10" L3 D2 in a truck. The amplifier is a RF T1500-1bdcp with a birth sheet of 1150x1 @ 4ohm 1734x1 @ 2ohm 1885x1 @ 1ohm The L3's show 400w RMS. My options are wiring them parallel or series parallel. Can these woofers handle the power if I run the amp at 1.3ohm? Or should I go with the 3 ohm load Thanks !

  25. I've built a couple of hundred boxes all the way from 2 6w0s in a Ranger to 3 Shockers in a 200SX wall(12 10"s earlier in the same wall) and 8 12"s in my Eclipse I used to have, as well as the run of the run of the mill multiple 13W7s, JUGGS, 2 12"s and everyday beaters middle of the road subs, as well as helping db drag and MECA guys at any opportunity cause that's how I get down to always give a helping hand. Now that I finally got a job my next future woofers will be beasts and I know simple screws will shear and break. My problem is (and I have TRIED T nuts before with dissapointing results mounting them) I need you guys' help. If anyone can take a few pictures an…
