4 pointsTry going to school first. Learn Some basic business practices. This fool STRAIGHT UP LIES. He revoked Donnies sale on ebay then said they were broken, then sold them to someone else. THAT IS COMPLETE AND TOTAL HORSHIT unacceptable by any kind of business stand point. simple slime ball move. period. that shit is black and white and can be read in ONE thread. Just about to say fuck this forum. Its a shame too, there are some actual smart people here i can learn a lot from. Just shady shit and i dont like supporting anything like that. SSA CANNOT THINK KEVIN HAS ACCEPTABLE BUSINESS PRACTICES, YET THEY STILL ADVERTISE HIS COMPANY. DOLLAR DOLLAR BILLS YALL! Alright, you need to relax. I had been talking to Mark for a few weeks about removing Kevin/SKAR as we were taking some heat for his business practices. Now, we discussed it somewhat, and Kevin is now working to make right what went wrong. I have no problem dropping a company, we have done it a few times in the past. Kevin expressed to Mark that he understood he handled this very badly and now he is working on making it right. I am not defending Kevin, if you want to think of it this way, Kevin and his businesses here are on probation. If Mark and I were all about "DOLLAR DOLLAR BILLS YALL!" this site would be VERY VERY different and neither of us would be working full time day jobs.4 points

1 pointActually no. We are not sweeping anything under the rug. Kevin has really begun to repair his reputation and improve his customer service. We did not decide on anything until he made his decision to refund the customers and make it right. Now that it appears he is working to turn things around, it is ok that SKAR remains for now. If we were sweeping this under the rug (like happens on other sites all the time), you would see topics deleted and posts deleted, but that is not the type of business we run or forum we lead, you can find that other places. Kevin now understands a little better in terms of the online world and I hope he realizes how important each and every transaction is. There still may be some changes, we take this stuff very seriously.1 point

1 pointWith a little luck, this could be the next "Ben Milne Love Parade" for anyone who remembers CSO in all it's glory. I think that this should not be tolerated here on SSA. I am pretty understanding but I read this and it is ridiculous. Example: I stopped in at the shop I used to work at and heard the boss talking. Someone brought in a vehicle and had a Remote start system installed into their vehicle. Their instrument cluster went out days later. They came back since we had worked on the vehicle before this happened. Wiring was double, triple, quadruple checked etc. knowing that what we installed does not interact with anything gauge related. It was the conclusion of the car audio manager as well as all of the other installers that it was an issue clearly not caused by any of their work, but the boss bites the bullet anyways to keep good customer relations. I don't know but I have a feeling the dash instrument cluster for a 09-10 vehicle is easily over a measly $400. Hell, I replaced a the instrument on a 92 Cadillac and a used cluster was almost $400. Another time a customer accused me of breaking a side view mirror and I clearly didn't. It was wintertime and you could see salt build up inside the mirror and he still insisted that it was the fault of one of our installers. With us definitely not being in the wrong, the boss paid up. Basically what I am trying to get at is this: Pay Up. You are clearly in the wrong this time and the op has been out of this money for well over a month while you dick him around. I'm not the most frequent visitor here anymore but I am ashamed that something this bad has been tolerated so long. Op sorry for your troubles, I hope all is taken care of. Kevin, never planned on buying Skar and barely knew about it; same with your website. What i do know is this: I hope you and both your businesses fail in a big burning pile of shit! Sincerely Todd1 point

1 pointlet me ask you this, who on this forum DOESN'T know all the stories about Kevin? There's been SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many posts about his questionable character that you'd have to really not even use the forum to not know the controversies that surround Kevin/Skar/1800 woofers. God I really hate this behavior of "ban so-and-so!". That crap is happening here and on my other favorite forum. If an Admin decides that a member is ban worthy, they will ban them. Plain and simple. It's not like Denim & Mark aren't aware of the situation. In fact, they probably know more about it than anyone here posting because they've (or one of them at least) have physically talked to Kevin about the issue in person. Accusing SSA for keeping him here as a vendor because they get income from it is just an ignorant assumption in my opinion.1 point

1 pointi think i have to agree with donnie. letting him be on this forum as a supporting partner is a representation of said company. A company should not have to be baby sat, thats just a silly thing to say. "everyone needs a little guidance once in a while to get there life on track" Yeah if your a child or irresponsible. PERIOD. Not running two LARGE companies. I havent even been burned by Kevin. But the guy is probably dealing with lots of money coming in and out and has a lot to deal with, if he cant keep customers happy on a regular basis and then is allowed to continue advertising just makes me thinks there is something more behind it. Does Kevin pay to have his dealer spot or whatever? Money does make the world go 'round.1 point

T/S parameters for small vented enclosure design
I say it like that because 99.99999999999999999999999% of people cannot get around the fact that T/S parameters are for picking and designing transducers that you will actually listen to music with. There is no phisical way you can "listen" to music with 3000 watts in a car. 1. Your sub stage is in a trunk. It is going to mask and color every bit of sound going into the cabin. If you were to take a DCON and play it below xmax meaning below destortion. The remove it, slap in a XCON and adjust the gain down so that it puts out the same level of sound (db) as the DCON you will not be able to phisically hear the difference. The key word is keeping the DCON below distortion. 2. Being your set up is in the trunk and you have an ungodly amount of power going to your sub at listening level there are a few things you need to look at. A. Does the sub have adequate cooling and thermal rating at your power rating. B. Can your sub really take xxx amount of power and stay below xmax in your given enclosure . Because anything over xmax is just distortion and that would defeat the purpose of the highend "SQ" sub. C. Does the sub have enough motor force to overcome it's own suspension and power compression to fully control the cone to prevent odd cone movements. If your sub stage was going in a open location where you had direct line of sight of the sub and played at a level where the listening area didn't vibrate as much as your ear drums, lots of other things come in to play. Like colorness from cone material, rub and buzz, physical placement of the set up itself. All in all damn near every speaker can sound good. However T/S parameters are modefied depending on the environment and enclosure they are going in. I would recomend getting a copy of the loud speaker cook book. Also download a free box calcualator and insert polar opposite drivers in the same enclosure and see what the results are.1 point

T/S parameters for small vented enclosure design
For the sub stick with an xcon. There is nothing anywhere near the same price point that compresses as much air while sounding damn good. As far as having one "custom built" that aint gonna happen. And before anyone says "well I can send in my motor to so and so and...........". Nope all they gonna do is take an off the shelf cone, off the shelf edge, off the shelf coil, and off the shelf spider to match something up close to what should sound good. Take advantage of Scott's humpteen years of FEA'ing, designing, and building subs and get what is proving to work. And for the box, two 12's in a small properly built enclosure will be the same size if not a little larger than the one you have now. Surely you can alter the deminsions but it will still take up as much volume. And since you already stated you don't know much who ever builds the enclosure DO NOT say I want it tuned to 30-32 hertz if what you are looking for is a low F3. It is very well possible to build an enclosure with a higher F3 than the tuning frequency. But we're not gonna get into that. So I say two xcon 12's And without doing any modeling. 1.75-1.85 net 14 inches of port per sub tuned around 27 to 28 should end up with F3 around 27ish. But that's off the top of my head1 point

T/S parameters for small vented enclosure design
You can always sacrifice frequency response for output, where you choose in the compromise is up to you. That being said, is there something about your current Xcon (besides output) you want to improve? Btw, there is no one or few T/S parameters you can look at and know it is right which is why no one answered at first.1 point

T/S parameters for small vented enclosure design
Curious what you don't like about the drivers offered here for that application? Screams Xcon generically speaking. I don't like to be generic, but considering you are just wondering about drivers for that box it would work and they will all be similar in make up. .....glad you added the net....1 point

1 pointOne of the only real things I learn from this site is how big of an arseho M5 is. It doesnt matter what the topic, brand, newb, veteran or anything else. He never fails to be a complete arseho with some smart ass comment. I think he or (you if your reading) truely bring down this entire site. This almost has nothing to do with this thread in general. Its almost every single thread the arseho posts in.1 point

Welcome to the IHoP
1 pointIs it personal? I may be a young gun in the car audio world and i obviously look up to him. He has turned into what started as a hobby into something much bigger. That is like a dream for most of us enthusiast isnt it? i mean why not make money off from something you absolutely love. Why do you care what I think? You are old enough to make your own opinions and don't like mine anyways. No daddy, I didn't mean it like that!1 point

What kind of problems? Some are trying to disrespect me, by telling anything bad they can about me, and about the ssa woofers ! Saying they heared too much about them, they only plays low notes,...But I don't mind ! I let them speak with their Audiopipe and Audiotop woofers in tiny ported boxes with hazardous tuning !!! Very few people have great sounding bass in their car, so they are jealous when they heared something amazing ! You are even happier now pounding on your BTL1 point

1 pointBit of an update, Took collection of my door speakers off Am on Friday, so I went about fitting them. One of the mid range speakers was faulty so sent it back over and should have my replacement one in the coming days Put 4 cans of expanding foam on the roof and some on the rear quarters, have marked out the second skin of the roof now in 18mm MDF, this will be cut and applied tomorrow all going well. Also cut a piece for the floor section which will be the size of the box for the Mayhems, will build it up over the next few days, should have a back wall and side walls up by the next time I update this. But here's pics of how it stands now in all its Ghetto Glory I have set the cross over's using the Imprint processor so the front end is fully active, the """SQL""" out of these speakers is amazing, can get very loud and still stay crystal clear Plus the carbon fibre cones look the dogs danglys More to come soon1 point

1 pointWell I have finally started on the woodwork side of things today, Got the roof lining down and out, measured up and cut a piece of MDF to suit. Used small metal brackets to tie the Piece to the roof, another run of MDF will go over this (18mm) Also removed the Handle for the sunroof, painted the glass black, and bonded it to the roof, will seal it tomorrow to make it water tight. Also made a start on my doorcards, looking very plain now but open to ideas on what to do to fill the gap on the outside of the card Some pics: More updates soon1 point

0 pointsAnd this is simply not true. A company that doesnt communicate with a customer is a joke by any standards. Im beginning to see why some people think its okay for someone to do things such as him. You just dont know any better yourself... lol and what did the guy do "at his own risk" ???? Meaning he paid for the amp 'at his own risk' meaning SSA is not liable for what happens here. If someone gets fucked over, too bad their pucking loss. I had a minor issue at SMD. I got a bent 18 in a 'drawing' dude had it insured for 500 which would of covered the recone as the basket was bent (not alot mind you). Well he got the money from the 'drawing' and the insurance and I got a slightly bent woofer. Guy lied to me, went to a mod and lied to them before I took it there. But its whatever. Its why I dont visit there any more. J where the hell are you getting that i said SSA is liable? i never once said NOR implied that, i just dont think they should pucking advertise for a fraud, simple as that. you bought a sub from a person in a drawing, not a company, this guy owns TWO companies, he is not just some classifieds lurker anymore, this guy deals with a lot of peoples money and should be more responsible about it. period. you getting fucked on SMD has literally NOTHING to do with my point, at all. ill say it ONE more time. I DONT KNOW WHY SSA WILL WILLINGLY REPRESENT A SUB PAR COMPANY. Thats all im getting at with this rant, 2 plus 2 isnt equaling 4. EDIT: and you just said yourself that the admins shouldnt do anything about Kevin on this form? which is fine... but then you go on to say you wont visit SMD because there admins didnt get involved??? You know thats a hypocritical statement through and through0 points- Kevin S
0 pointsLooks like SSA will still be supporting Skar audio huh??? This is seriously pathetic, he tries to rip a customer off and SSA is gonna sweep this under the rug because Kevin/Skar "promised to make CS a major priority and work to improve his reputation." Says a lot about SSA as company.0 points- Zcon No Longer A ProtoType!!!!!!!!!
-1 pointsSimilar idea, but different limitations. The AA is pretty much the top of the heap in terms of a driver for music that takes big power. This is exactly how I would describe it.-1 points- Kevin S
