The problem with most of these units is the user has really no idea what to do. You need to understand what you are trying to accomplish and how to go about it properly before doing it. If you are asking on the forum, you shouldn't be. You should be reading information, then working towards the goal, then asking for help if lost. It also helps to not be broke. If you want to do something, do it right. If you can't afford to do it properly, wait until you can. If you are unemployed, quit looking at buying audio equipment.
  2. I hope that is all that got damaged, despite my passion for audio, safety comes first.
  3. Welcome to SSA! The Dcon and 9500 series from MTX are very different drivers as pointed out previously by everyone else who has posted in this thread. If output is the main concern, the 9512 has the potential to get very loud and handle much more power than the Dcon. If you got it out of a dumpster and was returned for warranty purposes there is probably something defective about it. Have you checked the coils with a DMM or just looked at them and decided they were good? Without any information at all about the amp you are using, we can't say with confidence that you should upgrade your amplifier. Once again, the 9500 series from MTX is quite capable of producing impressive output. You figure you can get $250 or more for a used subwoofer that you pulled out of a dumpster? Without more information, we can only guess at the level of performance provided by your previous setup. In an optimal enclosure with >1kw, an 18" Fi Q should have more output at a lower frequency than a 9512 or Dcon15.
  4. Play improvision by ron tutt. I play it with the exodus', and have the sub basically off. Perfect example of that article.

You need to know the facts first -1 is what you would get for running your mouth. Umm, what? He stated EXACTLY what you need to do, if you choose not to listen it's your own damn fault. Read the paragraph in bold please. I know what I want and am getting one. I f you guys dont like it to bad. If you were buying it no matter what we said. Why ask?

God forbid somebody want to learn/experiment....if things weren't for us if we had to ask about them, nothing would be for anyone.OP: You can look into the Memphis 16-X03, it's a 3way electronic xover that will allow you to bandpass your mids and you'll be active like you want.
  7. Best to post a picture of it. If it's a simple fix we will let you know. Glad to see you are alright coming out of an auto accident.
  8. Two WHOLE different woofers. The 9512" is a very high power high performance 12". The DCON 15" is a 300w SQ based driver. The 9512 will have much more output no if, ands, or buts about it. Welcome man!!!

It really doesn't even do that... the real responses aren't like the graphs at all when we measured them. These days I don't use a box program for anything more than calculating port tuning as they are so often separated by a big margin from what really happens. How are you measuring them? SPL meter in the vehicle under power (~600 watts) at 5 Hz intervals. The giant peak on the ISD graph shown for the Skar woofer simply doesn't happen for instance... the shape of the response is very much like the Obsidian despite a VERY different model. ---- We use box programs to calculate port size and anechoic F3 -- then use knowledge of how things typically react in a car to suggest box spec to customers. Over-studying the graphs in box model programs is something I was VERY guilt of early in my audio years... but I've learned better Well of course the graphs don't match the program, you're measuring in-vehicle I think Duran's point was even though the box programs don't show in-vehicle response, you can compare the relative differences between two different subs. When placed in the same installation, while the response will change, that change will be common to both subs. So you can get an idea of relative differences even though actual response won't be exactly that of the program generated graph. With a little guesstimation you can get a general idea of how the in-vehicle response will look.

If you have to ask, running active probably isn't for you.
  11. It's a great material for it. MDF WILL get wet in your doors. In particular if you drive a GM. I was planning on spraying the outside of my door with a hose for a minute or something to get a rough idea of how much moisture gets in. I'd hate to have a driver get ruined. Take the panel off and go through a car wash. My truck was LOVELY.

I'll take the simplicity, stability, and quality of the RCA over bluetooth or any other wireless technology any day.

This is about as shady as it can get. + they sell skar and sundown? and pretty much every other thing from 1800woofers and then on SMD it seems like if he has acess to MalibuOn22's account over there. I doesnt matter to me how many businesses Kevin is dealing with or owns. As long as my business dealings with him are honest then I will continue to buy from him. I also know that nobody is perfect, including myself , a couple hiccups here and there will happen. As far as I know Skar is a subsidiary of Sundown. Obsidian is too. From a business perspective, his deallings with forum members on SMD are meaningless to me. Skar has no ownership attachments to sundown and is owned by Kevin, and has nothing to do with Jacob as far as company goes. Jacob plays more of a consultant role in the SKAR business. Just to clear things up for you guys.... Ah, thanks for clearing that up.

possible solutions. http://www.woofersetc.com/p-3810-bx35-boss-3-way-electronic-crossover.aspx http://www.woofersetc.com/p-1313-x6-lanzar-3-way-6-ch-electronic-crossover.aspx http://www.woofersetc.com/p-8126-qxr-7-cadence-3-way-electronic-crossover.aspx Personally I like something I can adjust from the drivers seat as thats where I like things to sound the best. I would suggest a HU with built in processor if you can afford it. Good luck.

I ask a question to get help and there are nothing but negative remarks, your moderators arent know it alls. Perhaps if there was a question asked we would have answered. Read the first post! You've changed your mind many times since then, we'd love to help, but you insist on not listening. I do all I want is a good 3way active cross over.Is that simple enough for you? Here is a good 3-way active crossover for you ...
